Its for a secondary system etc. etc, so you're right in that it is already more than I want to spend. Basically the active architecture has many advantages and I'm out to satisfy my curiousity as cheeply as possible. Given the Boom's price I was kind of hoping someone did something similar, without the streaming part, but with slightly larger amps and drivers. -- bhaagensen bhaagensen's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7418 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68229 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles

The AVIs have an active XO, not a digi XO, AFAIK. No idea why - digi is surely the plan in that kind of thing. Used Meridian D5000s often go for £600ish - that would be an old pair, probably 18-bit. Much better than AVIs, and fully digital, although it sounds like even that's more than you want to spend. -- adamslim You can't have too much music, but I do have too much hifi SB+, Audion Pre, 6B4G death traps, Lowther Big Fun Horns, REL Stentor SB+, Audio Innovations L1, Chi-Fi OTL monoblocks, Heybrook Sextets Boom x 2 adamslim's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7355 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68229 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
[SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Cheapest active speakers w. digi. x-over
Hi, I know about the AVI ADM9.1. But I was wondering whether there are any lower priced alternatives with the same architecture. Realistically I'm looking at *significantly* cheaper than the AVI's. Seeing how the Boom is priced, one should think it would be doable?
