I've gotten around the problem by making a downsampled copy at 48 KHz, to which the encoder will add ReplayGain, then I copy the ReplayGain tags to the original 96 KHz file. As a bonus, I have a properly downsampled 48 KHz file for devices (which is most of them) which can't handle 96 KHz. -- Timothy Stockman Timothy Stockman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=8867 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41261 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

My bank account gets a spontaneous nose bleed every week when it senses the "sale" email coming in from ArkivMusic. But in this case, I was mostly interested in trying out 24bit 96kHz content on my Transporter. Anyone know why metaflac can't add replay-gain info to 96kHz tracks? Your points about the label retaining earnings when distributing "direct" rather than through a retail distribution chain are interesting. I wonder how much Gimell gives up per order to have cctechnology.com host these downloads? That said, I think appearance of Gimell records and other small labels like it is a very positive development: classical artists asserting control over their own catalog of recordings. It's got to be better for the artists than just giving their stuff away to Naxos. What I'd really like to see, I suppose, would be a distribution clearing-house (online, retail, download) for all the hundreds of classical artists and ensembles who self-produce CDs these days. -- gharris999 gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41261 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles

Show some backbone, man! My comment on price: you can buy these on Amazon for less than a tenner - why would I get the download at £9.99? I think that the studio master downloads should be under a tenner. (Indeed I am unconvinced that there should be a significant difference in price for studio masters too - the costs are the same, virtually. Why not just a quid extra?) How much does the studio see from the £10 CD sale? Three quid? Whereas they get all of the amount when using their own distribution system. They should be pushing this strongly, and pricing it aggressively - this can massively increase their revenues. Steve: I currently have 5 cds by the Tallis Scholars and I'm a fan. I especially love the Iberian Requiems cd set. I am curious about your pricing of your downloads. All 62 of Gimell's cds are currently available from ArkivMusic for $16.99 each. That's only $1 more than your price of $15.99 for the 16bit 44.1hHz FLAC download. For me, as a collector, $1 off isn't enough to convert me into a download buyer. For the extra $1, I like having the actual CD and the time spent ripping to FLAC gives me a chance to read the liner notes. A beta firmware update for proper 88.2 KHz support, along with other fixes, is coming very soon. Yes, right now 88.2 plays like crap. I've also made some significant optimizations that prevent us from becoming CPU-bound when playing 24/96 FLAC with the spectrum analyzer enabled. -- seanadams seanadams's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=41261 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
