I'm mostly a lurker on these pages but I just have to comment on this
one:

That is one of the funniest websites I have seen in a long time. I
love the "white paper" on the Brilliant Pebbles. It hits the nail on
the head with the audiophile jargon! If someone takes this seriously -
what was the saying about a fool and his money?

I have to admit I started this thread for a bit of a laugh, knowing
that a great many people in these forums share my scepticsm (and even
contempt) for anything approaching snake oil. But Guy's observations
about the future are really quite worrying, and there is a danger that
"people like us" (who like good quality sound systems, at whatever
price level we can afford) will get tarred with the loony brush by
those not in the know who assume that all "audiophiles" share the same
wacky beliefs.

I've noticed the following:

My own system doesn't sound *exactly* the same if i listen to the same
piece of music -say- 15 minutes later. The sound that i perceive
depends on my own ability of paying attention to some selected details.
It definetely doesn't sound the same depending on my mood.

I don't need clocks or other fancy accessories to alter my attention
and/or my mood. But some people do. :)

Sadly, all of this talks about Us and the more and more sick and
abusive industry we support. If this direct attack on the stupidity of

expect about the future of this hobby? more 15,000 Euro interconnects?

This is just more crap just like their $30 wall plates that sell for 59
cents are Home Depot. It is a placebo for any audio maniac that would
pay $30K for a turntable or $100K for a pair of speakers. What is
another 199 dollars when you are paranoid that your 200K system is
lacking something and somebody is willing to sell you a skyhook or some
frequency grease to make you feel more secure about the excessive amount
of money you spent for a system that is still lacking something!

So if a tweak is a usually small adjustment, this would indeed seem to
qualify as one of the world's greatest -meaning smallest- adjustments.
What is not defensible is their use of the classic sci-fi movie quote,
