It's not as flexible as the foobar ABX app, but ages ago Malcolm Wotton posted a nice little Perl plugin for comparing WAV vs. FLAC, and I think the later version also compared MP3. I've thought about this before. You could use it to ABX test various encodings/formats for lossy music.
