This is how I has connected my Transporter. My Router and NAS is in my "home office" and the Transporter is in the Living room. My main reason for this was not networkproblems, but my Netgear Readynas server is the old duo, and it is too slow for daily use with many plugins. So I have SB-server running on both my stationary PC AND on my Readynas. After 7.6 and sql-lite the performace on the ReadyNas has improved quite a bit. But I hope that everything runs smoothly, when I get myself a ReadyNas Ultra. -- callesoroe Callesoroe SB-duet, Transporter, Tact RCS 2.2X digital preamp, Martin Logan Vista speakers, AMPS(Icepower): Acoustic Reality Ear Enigma PLUS(PANELS), Acoustic Reality Ear TWO MKII(Bas) callesoroe's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=22693 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91217 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles

Ok so the router is in the same room as you are listening , fan noise and limited space hmm. My server resides in my bedroom so I turn it off over the night, but better that than have it in my living room (where the hifi is). Both the TP and the NAS need to be talking to the same network. Why not move the NAS next to the router, then connect the Transporter to the router via WIFI. You'd only have one wifi hop with this, and if the wifi is OK, this will work just fine, and certainly until you can arrange cable, powerplugs, etc. -- garym Location 1: Vortexbox Appliance 6TB (1.10) > SbS 7.6.2 > Transporter, Touch, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio) Location 2: Win7(64) laptop > SbS 7.6.2 > Touch>Benchmark DAC I, Boom, Radio w/Battery (all ethernet except Radio and laptop) Retired: SB3, Duet Receiver Controlled at both locations with: iPhone (iPeng), iPad (iPengHD & SqueezePad), CONTROLLER, or SqueezePlay 7.6 on Win7(64) laptop Ripping (FLAC) - dbpoweramp, Additional Tagging - mp3tag garym's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17325 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91217 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
Re: [SlimDevices: Audiophiles] Using TP wireless and wired ethernet
Unfortunately that is not possible - Logitech devices connect via Wireless *or* Cable, not both simultaneously. Why not connect the NAS to the router (via cable) and the transporter to your wireless network? Allows you to have the transporter wherever you want, but your NAS needs to be close to the router -- snottmonster snottmonster's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=45063 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91217 ___ audiophiles mailing list audiophiles@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles

Hi there, normally my Transporter and NAS are plugged into my router but this is not possible at the moment - what I'm trying to do is , connect my Transporter via cable directly to the NAS and connect the Transporter to the router via Wi-fi ( I can't connect them both to the router yet because of cabling issues ) Cheers -- pkfox When the going gets weird - the weird turn pro. Do you have two routers ? And possibly two different dhcp's ( avoid that ) . some network admin can probably configure NAT and portforwarding between networks. Things like server discovery does not work between different networks and not wol either. so if you manage to portforward somehow you have to manually spec the server ip in the player it will not automatically just find the server. To conect two routers one usually use one as switch or ap not going thru the wan port and only use the dchp on one of the routers providing one network, this is the simple way for home users, that have only rudimentary network skills ( like myself ) if you don't have hundreds of clients. You better describe in detail what you are trying to conect to each other :) then some of the admin type fellows here migth now more, or google on such things building networks is more common than squeezeboxes so there may be knowledge elsewhere. -- Mnyb Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
