Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.9 Problems/Bugs

2019-01-21 Thread Wirrunna

I have noticed some MP3 albums now appear as multiple albums on 7.9.2 -
1544453860 @ Mon Dec 10 and the latest 7.9.2 - 1547616941 @ Wed Jan 16.

The only thing I can see in the tags is if a track has unsynced lyrics
and is followed by a track without lyrics (the unsynced lyrics tag
missing) the next track with unsynced lyrics is treated as the first
track of a new album with the same name and artwork.

This appears in the Home / Albums display on the gui on a Vortexbox
running Fedora 25.

The same album in 7.9.2 - 1537430919 @ Thu Sep 20 is OK.

Internal drive.
Win 10 box is a workstation and "master" for music and video processing,
i3-8100 CPU @ 3.60GHz, 8GB, quad core.
For this exercise it was a dedicated system.
Music library is distributed via FreeFileSync to Vortexbox servers.

Yes, I use it in my Sydney house with a filter (called No Spoken to stop
Goon shows!).

I run SpiceFly Sugarcube down here. I'll try Don't Stop the Music in the
morning as it's dinner time down under and I have had a couple of
glasses of wine and it takes ages to restore settings after I fiddle
with them when shiggered.

Slartibartfast, try it with no filter.
Go to Settings, Player, MusicIP and set the Mix Filter to (none) and see
if it works.

Also, early in the thread there was some discussion about when a mix

It was only an observation. Not worth the time to fix.
A clear & rescan on my VortexBoxes takes about an hour for 150,000
tracks. I usually queue up a couple of albums or a playlist and let it
go, the change in volume of the track being played when a clear & rescan
starts is sometimes noticeable.

Charles Parker has such a flag in the SpiceFly SugarCube settings, it is
very convenient for setting up a new player on a server.

I use BulkFileChanger
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/bulk_file_changer.html to manipulate time
stamps so that New Music is a true record of the date an album was added
rather than the date the album was modified.
Frank could use this utility to update a playlist by 5 seconds which is
enough to trigger an update in a "New and Changed" scan.

Version: 7.9.0 - 0.91.20150903git1441262387 @ Thu Sep 3 23:49:59 BST
2015 running on Vortexbox.

Chasing an anomaly in my music library where 2 tracks of an album by
"Everything but the Girl" appeared as a separate album by "Everything
But the Girl", I changed the artist folder name from "Everything But the
Girl" to "Everything but the Girl" and also changed the track names of
several albums from "tracknum.title" to "tracknum - title" then did a
New and Changed scan.

Looking up Everything but the Girl in Album Artists lists the changed
albums with each track as a separate album, see screen grab.

A Clear & Rescan put things right and the offending 2 tracks were
eventually found to have a composer of "Everything But the Girl" which
overrode the artist name.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.9 Problems/Bugs

2015-08-23 Thread Wirrunna

Playlists are saved for a non-synced player at server shutdown and LMS
will resume playing at the start of the track that was being played when
shutdown was initiated.
However, this doesn't work for synced players. A synced group of players
will start somewhere on the playlist, usually quite a few tracks earlier
than the last track playing at shutdown. This has been happening for a
while, maybe since before 7.9 - I just lived with it until I saw this
post
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?103755-loss-of-playlist&p=820549&viewfull=1#post820549.

It becomes very evident if the master player of a sync group is using
SugarCube to queue up tracks. Resuming play after a shutdown can start
days earlier in a playlist.

I'm not sure what the original design aim was for playlists of synced
players, but I think that if a player is synced with another player then
their playlists are common. Then when a server shuts down, for a
synchronised group of players the current playlist should be saved for
each player.

This is not an earth shattering show stopper of a bug, just a nuisance
when you become aware of it.

And if you do revisit synchronisation of players, maybe the message
"The player can be synchronized with other players, enabling them to
play the same music simultaneously. Choose the players you would like to
synchronize with from the list of available synchronization groups.
Choose No Synchronization to stop synchronization."
could be made more clear to indicate which player becomes master and
which players are slaves as I always get a surprise as usually the wrong
playlist starts playing when I sync players.

That's exactly what it was - all you have to do is swear softly under
your breath and click try again. I vaguely remember that Michael added a
small pause so that the message wouldn't appear.

I only use Licence Manager and Trackstat from Erland and they both work
fine.
When you load the new 7.9 it will kick off a clear and rescan due to
some db changes in December.
There is a new Settings/Advanced/Performance/Memory that speeds up
searches and scans (provided you have the RAM).
The Full Text Search (FTS) is a winner, on by default - it is a plugin -
that causes an extra step in the scan, takes a minute or so. However, a
search is lightning quick and really good. Try 3 letters of an artist
name and 3 letters of an album or song. After a few goes you will wonder
how we ever used this server without it. For instance a search for dar
si moo will bring up the album Dark Side of the Moon instantly, provided
it is in your library.

Michael has also fixed a bunch of old nagging bugs like the LMS web
browser changing players when you don't want it to and a clear and
rescan is hours faster on my system.

I also use Erlands plugins and SpiceFly SugarCube which rely on Erland's
License Manager plugin.

I queried Erland on how the License Manager plugin would survive in the

Michael, I suggest that the "mysqueezebox.com tab" be renamed "Email
Address" as a means to get the user's email address and add a heading
along the lines of "Your email address and password are required so that
Logitech and other service providers can identify this computer."

Then functionally, you still store the email address in the same
variable names so that third party plugins like Erland's will continue
to work.

Wow, I don't need rabbit's ears (quotes) anymore! Also seems faster, and
results are better sorted.

All that time spent breaking classical CDs into works really pays off
now, a search for - rac the pag - brings up "Rhapsody on a Theme of
Paganini (Feat. Piano: Vladimir Ashkenazy, Conductor: Bernard Haitink)
by Rachmaninov, S" at the top of the list.
The downside is that the results occasionally show up some slack tagging
(which as an acknowledged "obsessive" I have to fix immediately!).

Here are some search screen grabs of searches mentioned by Philip and JJ
- the first 2 are search from the main menu
17349 If the search is shortened to - "love" beat -
you get a few more results
17350

This is a search song for hur lov sup

Now that I better understand the use of quotes, I think this search is
excellent.

Quotes work. I had not tried them.

A search for - beet sym "no." - lists all the symphonies.
moz pi "21" - goes straight there!

A FTS for "beet sym 5" returns the 4 different versions at the top of
the Albums results, but a search for "beet sym 1" gets only one version
although there are 5 in the library.
Is there some kind of negative weighting for search results with "1" in
them ?

MusicIP import much quicker.

I loaded this version on my VB server here at my coast house, same
configuration except for an Asrock B85M-ITX mobo rather than the
Gigabyte B85 mobo in the Sydney box.

Plays music, New Music almost instant, but FTS is noticeably slower than
LMS running Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1), and
search results are not as good.
(I have yet another Mini-ITX box with a MSI B85I mobo, 8GB RAM and 2 4TB
Seagate Barracuda disks that has video files as well, so I can run both
versions side by side.)

FTS on SQLite 1.34 for "moz piano 21" is almost instant in returning all
the verions in my library, but on SQLite 1.44 there are still spinnys
after 5 minutes.

FTS seems broken in SQLite 1.44, a search for "beet sym 1" returns the
wrong results after about 10 secs, a subsequent search for "moz piano
21" also returns wrong results. This is after a clear and rescan that
completed without error.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] LMS 7.9 using newer versions of SQLite

2014-11-21 Thread Wirrunna

LMS with Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.40 (sqlite 3.7.17) has run rock
solid since I installed it, numerous "New & Changed" scans and a couple
of "Clear & Rescan" to pick up tag changes.
JackOfAll has now built a version with SQLite 3.8.6
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?102450-Scan-terminated-unexpectedly&p=797169&viewfull=1#post797169),
so I gave that a go.

Same procedure, only difference is that 1 album has been added and all
preceeding tests were done at my Sydney house when I was there, this one
is done on the same hardware but by logging in via VPN, so I couldn't
physically disconnect power but could power the box off and restart via
WOL.

[SlimDevices: Beta] LMS 7.9 using newer versions of SQLite

2014-11-13 Thread Wirrunna

In running down a bug
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?102450-Scan-terminated-unexpectedly&p=796046&viewfull=1#post796046)

to date version of SQLite for the more adventurous VortexBox users.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Scan doesn't find new artists if there is more than one artist

2014-10-30 Thread Wirrunna

Michael, I think frank1969 has hit on the missing element of your recent
excellent work on Browse Modes - we don't really know what each option
does.

For instance, the My Music / Browse Artists "i" just says Browse
Artists.

Could the "i" list what the two options do - for example
Use two separate lists for Album Artists and All Artists - Album Artists
is a list where Album Artist is the sole artist on an album or is the
artist specified in the "Albumartist" tag. All Artists is a list of
every artist that appears in the "Artist" tag.
Use single, configurable list of artists - This is configured in the
Additional Browse Mode plugin.

Then in Player / Additional Browse Modes there is the option to select
menu names.

Again for each row could there either be a "Contains" column or an "i"
field such as:
Album Artists - the sole artist on an album or the artist specified in
the "Albumartist" tag.
Artists - the sole artist on an album
All Artists - a list of every artist that appears in the "Artist" tag.
Albums - a list of the "Album" tag.
Random Albums - a random list of albums.
Compilations - a list of albums that are compilations (compilation tag =
1 or multiple artists in the artist tag)
etc.

This probably shows my lack of understanding on how these extra browse
modes are meant to work.

Sander, check your settings for the Music and Artist info plugin. You
should have a folder defined for Artist Pictures that LMS can write to
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?99537-Announce-Music-amp-Artist-Information-plugin&p=791352&viewfull=1#post791352
and
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?99537-Announce-Music-amp-Artist-Information-plugin&p=791439&viewfull=1#post791439)

The first scan that ran when LMS was able to write to the Artist Picture
folder took 75 minutes for the Artist picture lookup, subsequent scans
take 5 ~ 6 minutes.

Michael, thank you, and apologies for not putting these questions in the
Beginners forum.
Removing the ALBUMARTIST tags and leaving ARTIST and Compilation=1 gets
compilation albums appearing once only in the Compilations menu.

In which case there are some albums that are appearing more than once in
the Compilations.
A clue may be that several tracks have the same artist

2014-06-23 Thread Wirrunna

LMS 7.9.0 - 1403270469, Win 7

The new browse functions of Albums and Compilations are welcome
additions to the web GUI.

I suspect that some of my tagging is causing some compilation albums to
appear multiple times, in some cases an album for each track.

What is the selection criteria for a compilation ? (I thought it would
be files in a folder that all have the same data in the Album tag and
but different data in the Artist tag, and/or Compilation set to 1)

I suppose that I am asking what tags should be populated for an album
with multiple artists to appear as a single entry in the new
Compilations browse function?

OK, I accept that.
It's not how I use compilations - I define a compilation as an album
with different Artists and set Compilation=1 and Album Artist to
Artist.

However, I have found a few compilations (from my early days when I
first started with a white Slim Devices SB3) that do not have
Compilation=1 and Album Artist is blank but do have different Artists -
these albums list with album name and no artist. So, ignore my
suggestion, as when the Album Artist tag is blank, only the album name
will appear.

In fact I question why I set the compilation flag and the album artist
field

Thank you Michael, in the Server Power Control plugin settings, I added
a new command label "Clear & Rescan" and command "cli://wipecache",
clicked apply and there in Extras / Server Power Control is the "Choose
a Server Power Control action below:" which now includes Clear & Rescan,
which when clicked gives you 15 seconds to cancel the command before it
kicks off a clear & rescan.

So, if someone asks for cli command to be made available in the gui or
on a tablet, refer them to Gordon Harris's excellent Server Power
Control plugin.

Server Power Control (SPC) can launch commands through the CLI.
SPC asks for Label / Command , so I gave a command the label of Rescan
and a command of cli://rescan and it kicked off a New and Changed scan.

What would be the cli command for a Clear & Rescan ?

Could this be done via a Custom Command in the Server Power Control
plugin ?
Then it would be available in the player menu under Extras / Server
Power Control .

The second scan was from a New and Changed, so after seeing your post I
power cycled Daisy and started a Clear & Rescan -
Artist picture lookup (3136 of 3136) Complete 00:49:50
Still a hell of an improvement.

I save the artist pictures to a directory and do not ever fiddle with or
delete them.

I was hoping that " Speed up web requests for artwork, stylesheets etc.
by not passing it to the templating engine." which was committed on 10/5
might have had something to do with the speed up.

Take the credit Michael and hope that it sticks around !

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Plugin to test database tweaks

2014-05-12 Thread Wirrunna

Today I downloaded 7.9.0 - 1399649268 @ Sat May 10 and installed it onto
my Win 7 i3-4130 workstation and the recently replaced (by VortexBox)
Win 7 AMD E-350 1.6GHz HTPC. The music libraries were synced with the
VortexBox, giving me 3 systems of varying power with their own local
disks containing the same music library. The two Win boxes have 2 x
Samsung 2TB drives, the VortexBox has a 4TB Seagate drive for music. All
have SSD drives for the system disk. The Win boxes have had the RAMDisk
removed.

I ran clear and rescans on each system and then a bunch of lookups - New
Music, search artist for "the girl", album browse and artist browse.

The AMD E-350 system performs so well I need not have gone and replaced
it by the VortexBoxes. New Music is almost instant, browse by Artists
can take a second or two after selecting a letter and the artist picture
is a bit slow but not unacceptable. Browse by Albums takes 2 to 3
seconds per change of letter for the albums to appear, but again, not
unacceptable.
The i3 powered workstation is a bit quicker but not twice as fast.
The VortexBox running 7.8 with the Tweak DB plugin installed and set to
500 is the fastest.

Clear & rescan times show the great improvements that have been made
with LMS 7.9
The differences between systems were as expected with the exception of
MusicIP Import and Artist Picture lookup - the Artist Picture lookup
shows there is something seriously wrong with either my setup or the way
this function works in Windows.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.9 scanner problem - not removing redundantitems?

2014-05-11 Thread Wirrunna

Philip, I don't think a new and changed scan has ever removed redundant
entries.

Just recently while testing the Tweak DB plugin one of the searches I
ran was search artists for "the girl" which returned a bunch of artists
including both Everything *B*ut the Girl and Everything *b*ut the Girl.
After fixing these I ran a new and changed scan on both LMS 7.8 on my
new VortexBox and 7.9 on my workstation and the redundant entries are
still there in both systems.

I have just accepted that a clear and rescan is the only way to remove
redundant entries, but it would be good if Michael could nail this while
he is in scan fixing / database tweaking mode.

No scan, just starting up - but first time after copying the cache
directory from one drive to another.

Frustrating because I expected New Music to take as long as a wet week
like it used to, the same for some other look-ups, then, I expected to
see some dramatic improvement with Tweak Buffer set to 500. However, the
difference was barely noticeable and certainly hard to measure - nothing
like the speed up I got when I loaded cache into a RAMDisk
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?99414-LMS-with-a-RAM-disk).
Also frustrating because the RAMDisk had masked the speedups that had
been achieved.

Can you get the Scanner to observe the Tweak Buffer size ?

Memory use appears to expand and then remain static. I thought it might
shrink after some time but after very limited testing and observation it
appears to remain allocated. However, modern operating systems are very
good at paging out memory that is not accessed after a period of time,
depending on memory availability. But with 8GB ram, the system is not
going to run short. With Tweak Buffer set to 500 it has only grown by
300, and after re-booting and running a whole bunch of look-ups, New
Music browses etc it is currently sitting at
SQUEEZ~3.EXE0 508,512 526,964 22,324 504,640
with the look-ups etc being very quick.

I stand corrected.

OK, I have removed the RAMDisk and the system has returned the 2GB to
the memory pool. Also moved cache back to C:\.cache on the SSD.
Have run lots of searches, browses and lookups, nothing hangs like it
used to a year or so ago. Checked memory with the Win 7 Resource Monitor
-

SQUEEZ~3.EXE0 630,704 643,820 23,052 620,768

So compared to memory used when Tweak Buffer is 20, 500 will allow the
process to expand its memory use, but with 8GB there is still 5GB
available.

Total Tracks: 144,947, Total Albums: 11,302, Total Artists: 3,146, Total
Genres: 104

Tweak Buffer Size - 20
Starting LMS took more than 10 minutes after moving the CACHE from R:\
to E:\ , Windows Task Manager showed LMS was reading Persist.db and
Library.db .

Browse New Music - alsmost instant (used to stop server and music
playback for a minute or two - the reason I went to RAMDisk !)
Search Albums for "the girl" - first time took 54 seconds, player
stopped with re-buffering. Second search almost instant.
New Albums 2 seconds.

This is frustrating, most searches are returned in 1~2 seconds where a
year ago they would lock up the server and stop the players.

Memory :Hard Faults/sec - Commit (KB) - Working Set (KB) - Shareable
(KB) - Private (KB)
SQUEEZ~3.EXE0 - 314,692 - 332,528 - 23,044 - 309,484

Tweak Buffer Size - 500
Searches are returned in 1~2 seconds, New Music almost instant, New
Albums 2 seconds.
Memory Usage
SQUEEZ~3.EXE0 - 435,664 - 450,940 - 23,044 - 427,896

Restarted LMS with Tweak Buffer set to 500, took almost 3 minutes,
however search albums for "the girl" almost instant. Other searches, New
Music, New Albums and memory useage are as above.

Back to the farm for a few days then down the coast for more testing.

These results show the great work already done in optimising LMS 7.8 ,
and I think that a cut down version of this plugin with just the memory
slider should be included in LMS as a Settings / Performance function.
It also shows me that RAMDisk is no longer needed for Windows.

Michael, I'm out in the sticks for a few days, reading this via tethered

Using a plugin to alter SQLite memory usage is a clever idea. Look
forward to trying it.

SATA disks connected to the motherboard. Local, not NAS or anything
fancy.

The windows box is the MASTER library. All new music is added there,
tagged and processed by MIP.
Clear & rescans are (usually) run overnight when needed.
The performance of the Vortexbox has been an eye opener. I knew Windows
was bloated but had not realised the performance hit that Windows
suffers on long batch jobs.

Michael, I couldn't resist this.
I'm trying out VortexBox 2.3 on mini-ITX in a tiny Silverstone Milo ML05
case with a PicoPSU and are very impressed at the performance.
For comparison here is a cut'n'paste of a clear & rescan from a Win 7
workstation with 8 GB RAM and RAMDisk and the VortexBox using local
copies of the same music library.

Michael,
Again, thank you for the explanation.
As the benefit of going to a new version of SQLite is unknown and may in
fact break things, then the old adage "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
applies.

Michael,
Thank you for replying.

My reading of the SQLite blurb is that code written for earlier versions
will run on the latest version.

It has always been a Systems Manager's dilemma whether to upgrade the
database engine when a new release is made. In the old mainframe and
then the super mini computer days we based our decisions on the track
record of the database vendor, the hearsay from user groups and finally
whether our programmers had written code extracting every last bit of
performance (often exploiting undocumented features) or just vanilla
code. The vendors also held a stick over our heads with "end of support"
dates.

My thinking was that if you could update SQLite in 7.9 and tell us in
the 7.9 thread then the guinea pigs amongst us would try it out and
report back.

But maybe it is not that simple

As to the option to use extra ram, I and others
(http://forums.slimdevices.com/showth...hlight=ramdisk) have boosted the
speed of New Music and other browsing functions by installing RAMDisk on
Windows for libraries over 100,000 tracks. My thinking was that if more
of the database was in ram then it would perform better and avoid having
to fiddle about with RAMDisk.

As I have just discovered after converting an old Win XP box to
VortexBox 2.3, SQLite performance on Windows (XP and Win 7) for 100,000
track databases is abysmal compared that on Linux.

+1 for Inguz.

A current version of SQLite. There have been quite a few releases that
improve performance over the last few years -
https://sqlite.org/changes.html .

Another option in Settings / Performance to use more memory for
computers with > 3GB RAM - as an attempt to get some lookups e.g. new
music, to perform better on Windows based servers.

As an aside, I have recently converted an old XP box to the new
VortexBox 2.3 release and the performance of LMS on Fedora Linux is
greased lightning compared to how it was under Windows XP.

Sounds good. Would mean that if cover.jpg was originally 250x250 and was
replaced by a 500x500 it would be picked up on a "new and changed"
scan.
As long as it doesn't slow the scan time down too much.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Lms 7.8?

2013-09-07 Thread Wirrunna

After changing the Title of a few albums during a recent "pedantic tag
attack" I ran a New and Changed scan and to my surprise the artwork
moved with the new title in the now lightning fast New Music display.

Only reference I can find is -"Make sure /imageproxy is absolute in the
web UI." in https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/commits/public/7.8

In the past I am sure that changing the Album Title and running a New
and Changed scan would result in albums losing their artwork until a
Clear & Rescan was run.

Am I correct in thanking Michael for nailing yet another long standing
bug ?

I noticed that SQLite is now up to 3.7.17
(http://www.sqlite.org/releaselog/3_7_17.html) and has the option of
Memory Mapped I/O which according to their blurb
(http://www.sqlite.org/mmap.html) can make I/O intensive operations much
faster in some circumstances (whether LMS will benefit is beyond my
knowledge).

Would it be a big deal to incorporate SQLite 3.7.17 in 7.8 with the
Memory Mapped I/O being enabled by the
Settings/Advanced/Performance/Database Memory Config "High" option ?

That way the more adventurous of us could try it out.

7.8.0 shows Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1),
http://sqlite.org/news.html shows that they are up to 3.7.15.2 with a
couple of performance improvements since 3.7.7.1 (whether these would be

Is it simple to update the SQLite version in LMS or does that trigger

Good questions, Ikabob.
I check http://downloads.slimdevices.com/nightly/?ver=7.6 to see the
latest version number, then go to
http://svn.slimdevices.com/slim/7.6/?view=log to see what changes have
been applied since the version I am running. As far as I can tell, the
nightly version number is a snapshot at a particular time in the stream
of development submissions.
Then I make a judgement on whether there is any benefit in upgrading or
if there is a risk of calamity. Finally, I check the Beta forum (this
forum) to see if anyone is flagging a problem in a later version than I
am running.
Very occasionally, one of the developers will ask for testing of a new
function and if I can contribute I will.

One of the problems with the art work is that even with scanner logging
set to debug, the filename of the art work being processed is not
logged, so if the scanner crashes there is no indication of which file

I have been using 7.6 for a while now, and since the scanning issues

As 7.6 uses SQLite and 'one browser', some of the plugins have been

Of the plugins I use, only LazySearch still needs some updating.
Spicefly SugarCube has been greatly enhanced to take advantage of
SQLite, TrackStat was updated recently and Server Power Control has a
swag of enhancements (although I don't think Server Power Control was
affected by either SQLite or one browser).
I recall that some of the more knowledgeable have recommended clearing
cache before installing from a MySQL version. Also, there is an option
to use more memory in your server, (Settings/ Advanced/ Performance
...) which decreases the scanning time.

That's bloody expensive from Australia.

Added my comments in http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17173

r32752 OK
r32755 crashed
r32753 OK
r32754 OK
r32755 crashed on 3 runs with scanner logging set to debug.

A complete uninstall and delete of cache and prefs was performed before
each
install of a new version. The music library was all mp3 and is a subset
of my
normal library.

Jim, MP3Tag has been used to clean up these tags, the scanner logs from
the crashes mentioned earlier and the last mp3 files logged are here -
http://www.mediafire.com/?pyt924hawpx8d feel free to have a look at
them. As I have said in this thread and many times in other threads,
the scanner.exe from r32108 works fine.

Installed 7.6 r32713 on my Win XP test box, set (scan.scanner) - Music &
Playlist Folder Scanning to debug and fired up a clear & rscan. Tried 3
times, same crash but at different places according to the scanner log.
All crashs were while scanning MP3 files.
Funny thing is, 7.6 r32108 completes a clear & rescan without a hitch
every time.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the apparent apathy to scanner
problems ?

However, in defence of the developers, they work for Logitech and in
the absence of publicly available development roadmaps we do not know
what management has set as their priorities, though it is fairly
obvious that LMS is in and the older SB3 and Boom are out.

The way they do it is to have check boxes.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Scanner crashing randomly

2011-06-26 Thread Wirrunna

Just tried 7.6 r32552 clear & rescan. The usual Windows box -
scanner.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were
working on might be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem. etc.

Scanner.log last 3 lines :
[11-06-26 15:54:42.1878] Slim::Utils::Scanner::Local::__ANON__ (291)
Scanning new files (47570)
[11-06-26 17:32:50.8128] Audio::Scan::scan (64) Warning: Error: Unable
to read at least 10 bytes from file.
[11-06-26 17:32:51.1875] Audio::Scan::scan (64) Warning: Error: Unable
to read at least 10 bytes from file.
Might be handy to know which file !

I will overwrite the r32552 scanner.exe with the r32108 scanner.exe and
re-run the clear & rescan.

The file is too big to upload as an attachment and I don't have a web
server, pm your email and I will send it to you.
It is the Win 7.6 r32108 scanner.exe file that works on SQLite.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Scanner crashing randomly

2011-06-21 Thread Wirrunna

The scanner.exe broke shortly after 7.6 r32108 on Windows.
Every 7.6 version later than r32108 that I have tried has crashed
running a clear and rescan, the latest was 7.6 r32529. After replacing
the scanner.exe with the scanner.exe from 7.6 r32108 a clear and rescan
works perfectly.
