Re: [Coworking] Re: About the Unconference: Who's for virtual attendance?
Thank you folks for making the virtual conference possible! I will climb out of bed in the early morning of 13 March to watch the livestream. Will treat about this to the rest of the coworking folks in China. Have a successful one! Hi All, Livestreaming the Coworking Unconference is a go! A huge thanks to Chris Dykstra & Leif Utne who have generously offered to take it on. They're in the midst of lining up the access details, so we'll be back in touch shortly with the link and any other information of note. Friends - I would like to offer the services of The UpTake (http:// theuptake.org) to livestream the unconference. We'll carry the conference from our site, take care of equipment, bandwidth, people. As we get closer to the event, we'll send along the channel info, embed codes, maybe a moderated live chat etc. See you there, Chris ps. This is my first post to the list. RE: [Coworking] Re: About the Unconference: Who's for virtual attendance?
I think Skype's multipoint has limits on how many can view it. I would suggest something like ustream.tv, which is designed for doing streaming of things like this. I also think they can store the stream for asynchronous viewing. I would love to participate virtually. I like the Skype idea, but I also have a Microsoft Live Meeting account that we may be able to use. Everyone dials into a a conference bridge, so the audio from the conference could be handled by a cell phone with/without a headset. Just an idea. [Coworking] Re: About the Unconference: Who's for virtual attendance?
Hi everyone We should see with our friend Anna Thomas if something can be set up on that regard. A livestream would be the obvious solution, though, as Tony raised up, there is a range of practical issues : we need proper mics for the captation, good connections, etc. Moreover, the unconference will last 7-8 hours and there is a 7 hours timezone difference between Austin and Europe (CET)... What about that ? Anyway, we already shared some emails with Carsten from Deskmag who will cover the unconference. Deskmag is doing a great job, we can be sure they will filter out the best content possible from the unconference. Plus, we can imagine a kind of a scheduled web duplex just before or the day after the unconference (if feasable) between those who are interested in Europe and the players in the US coworking community being present in Austin. Then again, some questions : Technically, what would be the best tool for that ? Where could we do this in Austin ? Are people intersted ? If yes, how many ? All the best Jean-Yves On Feb 22, 7:48 pm, Jeannine wrote: > That's what I feared, maybe a schedule, or indeed a livestream. That's what I feared, maybe a schedule, or indeed a livestream. Or I looked at tokbox/opentok (http://www.tokbox.com/opentok/showcase) when we were talking about a wormhole and thought it had real possibilities. I guess first an inventory of what we have, then on to what we need? Re: [Coworking] Re: About the Unconference: Who's for virtual attendance?
Doing it well might be logistically very difficult: the space is a lounge / bar, so it's not a traditional event venue. That means things like cameras / mics / lighting / bandwidth may be hard to come by. Is there anyone here who's attending the event who would like to try and tackle getting a decent livestream up?
