I'm not sure if only backporting this single fix is worth it, as it looks like other things have regressed too (the opengl renderer) so maybe an update to current svn is in order? Attached is an (admittedly hacky) patch that nukes the rarlabs and gna
rar support for unar.
unar is not a direct drop in replacement as it uses different commands
to list and extract files.
I'm not sure if it would be a better idea to write a wrapper for unar
and lsar instead. In the long run Evince should probably use libarchive
for all compressed files.

Hi, I was bitten by the same problem, and I'm using the same keyboard. While looking into this I also discovered that there is finally a way to get sane settings by setting /sys/module/hid_apple/parameters/iso_layout to 0. Hi,
Debian gets lots of bug reports, so it's not uncommon to not get a
timely reply.
Anyway, firmware is probably not the problem. If you're running stretch,
try grabbing a newer kernel (maybe from experimental).
You could also try the work-in-progress driver from
https://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new
See if there's anything in the log files when it fails, if so, attach
that information to the bug report.
If you want to get the ball rolling it's probably better to file a bug
directly upstream. See https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78691
for an example.

try debian-user if you need further help)

Hi,
Attached is a patch that adds support to open cbr archives with unar. I
simply replaced the unrar support with unar, as this gets rid of an
unfree suggests.
It would probably be better to rewrite comix to use libarchive, but
that's quite a bit more work.

Funnily it doesn't even seem to be triggered by a problem with the shell, but caused by gnome-settings-daemon crashing, the shell and all apps are happily running in the background. (Or at least on my system this is the case). Everything I care about is running under gnome-session so forcing a logout without a chance to save stuff is pretty bad, for me it's almost as bad as just restarting X or forcing a reboot. Until this is fixed upstream I wouldn't mind having the fail whale function ripped out. I had a similar problem and only solved it when I noticed that this package was missing. The fix is 75f64dd54a185150ebfc45e99351c890d4a2252f "fallback to SW
encryption for TKIP+AES" a small patch which is easily applied to
2.6.32.
I'm not sure if TKIP+AES is an unusual combination, but if it is it
would explain why it went unnoticed for a while (and would make the
severity of this bug a little bit less).
I guess it might be a bit late to get this into Squeeze for the release,
but it would be great if it made it for one of the point releases.

rt2500usb: fallback to SW encryption for TKIP+AES
HW crypto in rt2500usb does not seem to support keys with different ciphers,
which breaks TKIP+AES mode. Fall back to software encryption to fix it.
This should fix long-standing problems with rt2500usb and WPA, such as:

Adding the Xulrunner path to LD_LIBRARY_PATH seems to the right way for other browsers to get Icedtea working, at least that's how Chromium does it, see bug #574679. funguloids suitable for main.

Ubuntu includes a range of patches which hides the grub menu (and the
five second timeout) from being displayed unless the shift key is held
down while booting (or other operating systems are also installed).
It would be great if the Debian package could also adapt these
changes, for a cleaner look and reduced boot time.
Having it hidden by default is most likely a controversial move at
this point, but at least having the option of configuring grub for
"silent mode" would be much appreciated!

Hi, Something else is still wrong, even with 2.28.2-3, gnome-user-share is built without Bluetooth functionality. Bug#563614: gnome-user-share: Bluetooth functionality gone?
Package: gnome-user-share Version: 2.28.2-2 Severity: normal Hi, gnome-user-share no longer receives files over a Bluetooth connection. The settings for Bluetooth options are also gone from the capplet. This happended starting with version 2.28.2-1 (but also applies to 2.28.2-2). Version 2.28.1-3 is working fine. An uneducate guess is that this has something to do with the switch to obexd-server and bug 558377?
