Hi, As mentioned in README.Debian,, modern Intel GPUs require non-free shaders. You need to to use the i965-va-driver-shaders package from non-free instead. It would be nice if using the wrong package lead to warnings instead of GPU hangs, but I don't know how easy that would be to implement. -- Cheers, Sven Arvidsson http://www.whiz.se signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part
Bug#799586: dosbox: DOSBox quits after starting some games e.g. Screamer Rally
retitle 799586 Screamer Rally, HOMM2: segfault in __ieee754_pow_sse2 tags 799586 patch thanks Hi, Both Screamer Rally and Heroes Of Might And Magic II segfault at the same point: #0 0x75f4e9d8 in __ieee754_pow_sse2 (x=2, y=0.33215) at ../sysdeps/ieee754/dbl-64/e_pow.c:114 #1 0x75f5dec4 in __pow (x=2, y=0.33215) at w_pow.c:27 In HOMM2 it happens at the end of a turn. Presumably other titles are affected too. This seems to be a regression, and current svn of Dosbox does indeed work fine. I did a reverse svn-bisect to find the commit that fixed this and found https://sourceforge.net/p/dosbox/code-0/3674 That commit mentions OSX, but applying it to the Debian package does fix the problem, so I guess 64-bit Linux uses the same code path? I'm not sure if only backporting this single fix is worth it, as it looks like other things have regressed too (the opengl renderer) so maybe an update to current svn is in order? Hi, Attached is an (admittedly hacky) patch that nukes the rarlabs and gna rar support for unar. unar is not a direct drop in replacement as it uses different commands to list and extract files. I'm not sure if it would be a better idea to write a wrapper for unar and lsar instead. Hi, Debian gets lots of bug reports, so it's not uncommon to not get a timely reply. Anyway, firmware is probably not the problem. If you're running stretch, try grabbing a newer kernel (maybe from experimental). You could also try the work-in-progress driver from https://github.com/lwfinger/rtlwifi_new See if there's anything in the log files when it fails, if so, attach that information to the bug report. If you want to get the ball rolling it's probably better to file a bug directly upstream. See https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=78691 for an example. (Dropping debian-devel from reply as it isn't really on-topic, you could try debian-user if you need further help) Hope this helps, -- Cheers, Sven Arvidsson http://www.whiz.se PGP Key ID 6FAB5CD5 signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

I had the same problem, thought it was a glitch just on my system. Disabling it does indeed not work if it's set to it's default value. But it does work if you first reassign it to something else. The gconf key for this one is /apps/metacity/global_keybindings/switch_group and the default binding is Above_Tab Unless this is an obvious problem I guess this will be resolved when Mutter does the move to GSettings/dconf. -- Cheers, Sven Arvidsson http://www.whiz.se PGP Key ID 760BDD22 signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

Funnily it doesn't even seem to be triggered by a problem with the shell, but caused by gnome-settings-daemon crashing, the shell and all apps are happily running in the background. (Or at least on my system this is the case). Everything I care about is running under gnome-session so forcing a logout without a chance to save stuff is pretty bad, for me it's almost as bad as just restarting X or forcing a reboot. Until this is fixed upstream I wouldn't mind having the fail whale function ripped out. If g-s-d crashes I can restart it manually, or live with badly themed apps until I decide to log out and in again. -- Cheers, Sven Arvidsson http://www.whiz.se PGP Key ID 760BDD22 signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

However, it neglects to specify an address family, so that attempt fails with EINVAL, and the -1 returned gets passed to spawn_httpd() as the port that Apache should be listening on, which causes to Apache promptly and silently bail. Bug#635225: gnome-themes-standard: Missing index.theme / integration with alternatives
Package: gnome-themes-standard Version: 3.0.2-1 Severity: normal Hi, After upgrading to GNOME 3 I noticed that the cursor theme wasn't consistent any longer. Bug#611390: Acknowledgement (linux-image-2.6.32-5-686: Asus WL-167g / rt2500usb regression: DHCP no longer possible)
tags 611390 patch thanks Got it! The fix is 75f64dd54a185150ebfc45e99351c890d4a2252f "fallback to SW encryption for TKIP+AES" a small patch which is easily applied to 2.6.32. I'm not sure if TKIP+AES is an unusual combination, but if it is it would explain why it went unnoticed for a while (and would make the severity of this bug a little bit less). I guess it might be a bit late to get this into Squeeze for the release, but it would be great if it made it for one of the point releases. -- Cheers, Sven Arvidsson http://www.whiz.se PGP Key ID 760BDD22 commit 75f64dd54a185150ebfc45e99351c890d4a2252f Author: Ondrej Zary Date: Wed Jun 23 12:57:15 2010 +0200 rt2500usb: fallback to SW encryption for TKIP+AES HW crypto in rt2500usb does not seem to support keys with different ciphers, which breaks TKIP+AES mode. Bug#611390: linux-image-2.6.32-5-686: Asus WL-167g / rt2500usb regression: DHCP no longer possible
Package: linux-2.6 Version: 2.6.32-30 Severity: normal *** Please type your report below this line *** Hi, The Asus WL-167g USB wifi dongle doesn't work with 2.6.32, it never gets an address when DHCP is used. A static configuration does however work. Others[0] have apparently had the same problem but, I didn't find a bug report. According to this Ubuntu bug[1], this is a problem that has been resolved in 2.6.36 (I have confirmed this both on .36 and .37) but no word of a specific fix. There's also a very similar bug for Fedora[2], but concerning rt2500pci. When I have a little more time, I will try a bisect between .35 and .36 and see if I can track down what fixed this. Any pointers in the right direction is welcome. 0. http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2010/02/msg01959.html 1. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/468072 2. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=457441 -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 2.6.32-5-686 (Debian 2.6.32-30) (b...@decadent.org.uk) (gcc version 4.3.5 (Debian 4.3.5-4) ) #1 SMP Wed Jan 12 04:01:41 UTC 2011 ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-5-686 root=UUID=1e2f54c2-b7b9-48bb-8af6-743dc5179c9e ro quiet ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [5.877933] [drm] register mmio size: 65536 [5.878963] [drm] GPU reset succeed (RBBM_STATUS=0x0140) [5.878996] agpgart-via :00:00.0: AGP 3.5 bridge [5.879016] agpgart-via :00:00.0: bridge is in legacy mode, falling back to 2.x [5.879024] agpgart-via :00:00.0: putting AGP V2 device into 4x mode [5.879083] radeon :01:00.0: putting AGP V2 device into 4x mode [5.879088] [drm] radeon: VRAM 128M [5.879091] [drm] radeon: VRAM from 0x to 0x07FF [5.879094] [drm] radeon: GTT 128M [5.879096] [drm] radeon: GTT from 0xE000 to 0xE7FF [5.879158] [drm] radeon: irq initialized.
