So at least for vanilla 2.6.17.4 I can report that the patch works, eventually I will upgrade to 2.6.17.7 before 2.6.18 is out, but here in Germany we currently experience a hot spell so running a Personal Computer in ones overheated home is difficult enough, let alone putting it to work at the moment ;).
