Sounds like a misconfigured startup page. Try setting your Iceweasel to  
start with an empty page, or any web page of your preference.

ok, iceweasel- Edit-Preferences-Advanced. Network tab-Settings button.
Make sure NO PROXY is checked.

Do you have a proxy configured in one but not the other?  It sounds
like a proxy's login to me.
