[Bug 134486] [NEW] Gnome screen unlock should also show already opened sessions
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: xorg There is one mayor inconsistency with the fast-user-switching UI. The unlock screen dialog now already shows a "switch user" button. What it does not yet show, but needs to show to avoid confusion is a list of already running user sessions, which are available to switch to. Without that, a user might try to login twice. This might happen if user A locks his screen and then leaves the machine. User B logs in and leaves as well. User A returns and thinks he has been logged out/killed via Ctrl+Alt+Backspace and tries to login again. Moreover the way it is now, he would have to wild guess which VT his session is on and he would have to know about the appropriate keyboard shortcut, which is very unlikely with newbies. By the way, I very much like the fact, that in Ubuntu it is actually taken serious if you say you can't expect a newbie to know - unlike in Debian. I know, and most people that would report a bug or wish here, but our mothers don't. ** Affects: gnome-screensaver (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Gnome screen unlock should also show already opened sessions https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/134486 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 150471] Re: [Gutsy] high processor activity after logging out and then logging in again
I had this problem for 2-3 days, everytime I started Nautilus (within same session, login-logout, etc). Based on my logs (different error messages), I found other bugs related to nautilus and tried many different things. It was fixed when I changed in a Nautilus window (after waiting 5-10 minutes for the hang to stop): Edit>Preferences>Views>List View Default>Default zoom level>75% (or gconf-editor apps>nautilus>list_view>default_zoom_level>small if Nautilus cannot never starts) and removed 8000+ thumbnails created in .thumbnails subfolders (but I didn't removed the folders) to get back to my prefered list view at 25% (smallest). I understand that killing Nautilus is a quick fix and it worked for me too (at least when I didn't need Nautilus), but I wanted to go further to find why this bug. I found that a faulty thumbnail can lead to a non working Nautilus. I couln't check each of 8000 created thumbnails and since Nautilus re-builds thumbnails when it needs it ... In addition if you kill Nautilus at gdm session's end, you shouldn't be able to save your session state for it. Hi guys, Since Nautilus is linked with MANY things, there are many reasons for Nautilus to crash. I spent hours to track this one and removed a lot of stuff before pushing the right triger for me. Let me ask a question to everyone: Do you use to have the 'list view' with 'smallest icon size possible' by default?? If yes, try to increase it to 'small' and give it a try. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately we can't fix it, because your description didn't include enough information. [Bug 182082] Re: Nautilus cannot preview MP3 files unless mpg123 is installed
I'd expand on this slightly and allow the user to pick from a list of formats which should be used for audio preview. If the user selects a codec that is not found on the system (via Gstreamer), it should ask the user if they would like to install it (again, making note of legality). Nonetheless, the current implementation is very broken. There is no coherence to it and several codecs just do not seem to work with audio previews, FLAC for instance. Those that do work (in theory) such as MP3 and OGG give no indication to novice users about how to get them working (in practice). -- Nautilus cannot preview MP3 files unless mpg123 is installed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/182082 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for nautilus in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 182082] Nautilus cannot preview MP3 files unless mpg123 is installed

However, this function doesn't work for MP3 which makes the function appear broken. There is no mention anywhere that for this to work, mpg123 needs to be installed. For example, the audio preview could be disabled by default, and when the user specfically enables it, then ogg tools and mpg123 at least get installed automatically (with proper message about the legality obviously). [Bug 182048] double clicking on a paused track doesn't do anything
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem Start Totem. Add any number of tracks to the playlist. Double click on the first one to start playing it. Double click on it again. It will start playing again. Double click on the next one. It will start playing. But pause a track, now you will find that double clicking doesn't do anything at all. Many users would expect double clicking a track to always have the same behaviour, so in this case, the track should start playing again. Others may expect the track to unpause and continue playing. I suppose this is a feature request. Sorry this is the third log using Apport I have made, the other two Apport didn't make Launchpad come up in a tab in Opera until I made a new tab and tried again. [Bug 181900] Re: Evolution-Exchange does not really sync with exchange server
I have a similar situation but when viewing mail messages through webmail. I'm able to fix the mismatch messages by deleting the .evolution directory This are the steps that specifically causes this scenario with me: 1. Open evolution to download list of messages 2. Close evolution 3. Login to Exchange webmail 4. Move/delete messages from a directory 5. Log out 6. Start evolution The email list still appears as it was before executing step 2. If there are new messages, they do not show up. However, the alert icon appears and the directory is in bold and it's showing the number of new mail messages. I go back to webmail after closing evolution to confirm that there is indeed a new message. -- Evolution-Exchange does not really sync with exchange server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/181900 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 182046] Option menu not available when right clicking on the desktop selector
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-panel It's just a minor problem: if I lock the gnome panel in gnome config editor (by checking the box lock_down in /apps/panel/global) and then right click on the desktop selector, the menu do not offer me the possibility to change preferences anymore. [Bug 182028] Re: evince and eog freeze on all printing related actions
This is for sure not a bug in Gutenprint. Gutenprint is a printer driver, it has no interaction with desktop applications. As printing works for you in other applications, your printer driver (which is not necessarily Gutenprint) is OK.
