I can confirm, thay ucomesdag proposal fixed crash when adding new location 
(city) in Weather indicator versions 11.11.28 and 12.07.30 :)
I'm attaching a patch, which can be applied against Ubuntu 12.04 and newer 
indicator-weather packages.

As i get the same issue daily since a long long time, i think its coming from
either synaptic or more probably from metacity (or one of their dependencies).
But that report is so old, and gdm (no more used by default), unity-2d (that
package(s) cant be blamed, i dont use it) and metacity is on the way to be
dropped on the next releases.

@Rolf : what you can do is to clean your system as much as you can
(deborphan/bleachbit) and delete some borked config folders (they are
cleanly recreated on the next boot) like: .gconf, .local, .config,
.gnome2 ; and tweak logrotate if you get too huge log files.
