as I'm not an IT professional and only a low level autodidact my only
contribution (as far as I see) seems to be to urge the need for a
Really Good(TM) Base tutorial.

For me (maybe I'm the only one - but I don't believe) the main goal of
Base documentation should be to simplify data base usage (and not e.g.
to try to show all the capabilities of OOo Base).

So reducing complexity (by learning by doing) seems to me the best
approach to help many people to use data base functionality.

A really good ;-) example for me is this (german) document:
http://de.openoffice.org/doc/oooauthors/base_entwurf_einer_datenbank.pdf
which I already had started to translate in the wiki but could not
continue out of different reasons. For my experimenting see
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/User:Nnino/Drafts/Tutorial:_Working_with_OOo_Base

I don't know if somebody else has translated it in the meantime.

It just makes the learner use Base and understand what she/he does.
Doing practical work and learning the concepts behind.

But I think this is a "tutorial" and not a "Users Guide" (what ever the
difference might be).

So if I could, I would try to convince you to concentrate to create a
"tutorial like" Users Guide or at least to start with a tutorial (maybe
even with translating this one).

Nino

On Linux opensuse 10.3 i586, no such problem with m47 version can

Find two separate issues:
1. in table wizard, the personal and bussiness categories content
changed with each other, you can find for example CD-Collection in
bussiness category. (in both win/linux)
2. form wizard when you finished creation, with option work with the
form, window closes and not opens back, and not saves into Form area -
Form lost. (On linux version caused OOo crash) If you select edit
mode, the form opens in edit mode and saves into Form area. (On

Submit a bug, or it is on my computers only?
Do you guess what my answer looks like ;-) Yes, it works in my OOO310
m47 build. Do you send the crash reports? May be we get a clue what's
going on.

[dba-dev] Table wizard quirks OOo dev 3.2 m47 (partof SRB for ...)

2009-05-05 Thread Reizinger Zoltán

Hi all,
From my earlier mail:
>1. in table wizard, the personal and bussiness categories content
changed with each other, you can find for >example CD-Collection in
bussiness category. (in both win/linux)

I logged out stated new session on linux, same error.

>2. form wizard when you finished creation, with option work with the
form, window closes and not opens >back, and not saves into Form area -
Form lost. (On linux version caused OOo crash) If you select edit >mode,
the form opens in edit mode and saves into Form area. (On linux/rpm
version caused OOo crash)

In this part I made some more observation, it is only happens when
creates new table with wizard as in first step. If you create table in
design mode forms works as needed.

If you creates tables with wizard, and after form with wizard, form
cause crash on linux, on win not crate form.
It is independent from file creation, it is happens with newly created
file or with old file.

Crash reports: rvpfwvc and r5pfwvc.

Hi Ocke,
I deleted user profile, and installed SRB 1.1 beta4 again, old reports
not opens, can not create new report in design mode, but some thing
blinks up (I think the "Add field" window) when click on create report
in desing view.
If I start report wizard, the "Add field" selection window came up, and
stays open, but report edit window not cames up. I can select fields,
sort the fields, unselect sorting.

I can click on insert, no open edit window, nothing happens.
