Quick suggestion for Calc re: switching sheets

2015-08-11 Thread Josh Brunner
I have a quick usability suggestion for Calc. Recently, I wanted to copy
multiple non-sequential lines from one sheet, paste these into a new sheet,
then go back and delete those lines from the original sheet. I noticed that
when I navigate to the second sheet, paste those lines, then navigate back to
the first sheet, my selections are deselected. So if I had selected 20 random
lines, upon going back I would have no idea which ones I selected. The easiest
way to resolve this would be to allow cutting of selected non-sequential lines,
right now I get an error message when attempting that. The other way would be
to simply retain the selected lines for the user when switching between sheets.
It makes sense to use this as the default as all the user needs to do to
deselect is click into any cell as usual, but save them the frustration of
trying to sort out which lines were selected.

Thank you,

Re: REPORTING Windows 10 Upgrade Issues: BASIC SITUATION - Correction

[top posting]

Thanks for taking the lead on tracking down the issues with Windows 10.
It is rather critical that the actual "variety" of Windows 10 is noted
in these reports. If you think it's important to have this kind of
granularity documented in BZ as well, I'm sure we can make these changes
there too.

OK, good.

This is good to know. I did a commit from /main, not from the top of the
branch really, but the svn diffs were the same either way, so I was
hoping this would produce the same results.

It worked, see
https://svn.apache.org/viewvc/openoffice/branches/AOO410/main/dbaccess/?pathrev=1695343
and you will see that in the mergeinfo list you have the revision you
actually merged.

If it doesn't work (i.e., you commit only the files but not the
directory), svn status will reported that the directory is changed ("U"
status) and you can commit it separately, even though it is only a
metadata commit.

Thanks Keith. This is certainly helpful information. We would
certainly be grateful for more current information on the FAQs. And if
we are now maintaining them on the wiki, this would be easier for
volunteers as well.

Marcus and Kay;

Many of those FAQ's were merged into the FAQ pages on the mwiki. I had
thought I had notified the dev list and requested those pages be
redirected to the mwiki, but it is possible I checked it off as done on
my todo list but never sent the e-mail. I will double check on which
pages I did and where I added them ion the wiki.

OK, I'm not sure this worked correctly or not in terms of
supplying/preserving the meta information. If not, how to fix?

Honestly, I did not look closely at the FAQs. If they are out of date,
of course they should be revised before linking them to anything.

in general I think it can be a good place or linking.

However, the FAQs are mostly outdated. Does it make sense to do the
linking without a greater review and rework?

If we decide for a rework I would comment out any linking to the FAQs
and replace at least the inital webpage temporarily with an "under
construction" message.

Well I'm glad I asked. When I did a diff from either main or the from
the directory in which the file resided, it was the same output so this
is why I asked. OK, I will take care of this shortly.

Thank you, and yes as I saw it the merge-tracking changes are considered
by SVN to be changes in the directory (so in main, not in the files you
committed), so committing only the file will still leave your copy not
