Re: [slim] Cannot Access my Apps via Ipeng
Yes. I believe what happens is that your Classic is registered to your wife's account on MySqueezebox.com and now you are trying to run it on a different one. Since MySqueezebox.com is what manages your apps this will not work. You have two things you can do: 1. Use your wife's account. To do this you have to configure this in your server's web interface (Settings->MySqueezebox.com) 2. Change the account. To do this you need to go to the MySqueezebox.com web site, log in with your wife's account and delete the Squeezebox under "Players" and then re-register it for your own account. The server might do that last step for you, not sure. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote, at penguinlovesmusic.com pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82316 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
[slim] trouble getting radio stations to play
Hey Here's my set up. I'm running Squeezebox server 7.5.1 r30836 on a mac. In my living room I have a Squeezebox Duet. In my bedroom I have a Squeezebox Radio. For the longest time I've been enjoying listing to Radio Paradise on the Duet. And then about 6 months ago it simply stopped working. Lots has changed, I've a new computer, a new network, all sorts of stuff. But whenever I pressed play it looked like it was going to stream and then after a while it gave up. No errors, it just goes back to not doing anything. For some reason a few days ago I decided to synchronize the duet with the radio. Now I can listen to Paradise. However, as soon as I break the sync, the Duet once again refuses to stream the radio. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks Andy P.S. on a completely different note, whomever re-wrote the itunes plugin, big hugs. THANK YOU! Finally no more TV shows in my playlist. -- mozzer503 mozzer503's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20682 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82318 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

[slim] Cannot Access my Apps via Ipeng
After much trial and error I have been able to get the Ipeng app to control my Classic via my 1st gen. Itouch. I can access all the music on my server and I can access radio stations and favorites. The only wrinkle I haven't been able to figure out is this. When I try to access My Apps (ie. Pandora and Slacker) I get a message that says--"this player is already registered to another user. If it was purchased from someone, ask them to delete the player from their acount and try again." Secondly, when I try to access Pandora, I will get a message that says, "Pandora is already installed." The funny thing is, if I uninstall it, then reinstall it (takes about 5 seconds) I can now access Pandora or Slacker via this method. Obviously I am doing something wrong. Initially, my wife set up my account and then I recently set up my own account with my sqeezebox.com Is there a conflict here. [slim] Squeezebox Classic, Slowing down office network
Our office has been using a squeezebox classic for a couple of years with zero problems. We recently upgraded all machines from XP to windows 7 (our server is running Win Server 2008). Now that I have squeezebox server installed, everytime I connect the squeezebox itself to the network, ALL of our computers will navigate the internet extremely slow (loading google takes 10-15 seconds). I tried contacting logitech with no help on their part. The computer running squeezebox server has 6GB RAM and an intel core 2 quad processor. When we unplug the power cable from the squeezeboox, the internet runs faster than ever so its obviously the unit itself. any suggestions would be much appreciated, Nick -- PSI PSI's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40736 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82306 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Transporter using Wimp
My understanding is: 1. Linux based players (Radio and Touch) do native decoding of the 256kbit/s stream. 2a. Older ip3k based players don't do native decoding of any AAC format at any bitrate. 2b. Transcoding for ip3k players is done by the local server using faad. 2c. faad is not capable of transcoding the 256kbit/s stream (although the native AAC decoder in the Linux players decode the 256kbit/s stream) 2d. For server transcoding using faad, a 96kbit/s stream is used. The problem is rather technical, but basically the 256k format is not a streaming format (MPEG-4 AAC), while the 96k one is (ADTS AAC). faad cannot transcode a streaming MP4 because it needs access to the entire file. -- andyg andyg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3292 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82260 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Maybe I'll improve it in the future to also configure SqueezePlay devices, but that will probably only cover settings that are not available through the normal config pages. (e.g. switch to static ip, change the host name... something like that). Unfortunately, SqueezePlay devices do not even have a network interface for configuration (like UDAP on the old generation SB3, Receiver, Boom...). That means that all configuration needs to be done through SSH and the user also needs to enable SSH access first. E.g. SqueezeConfig already uses SSH to fetch info about HW/firmware status. -- flattermann Christian Home of 'SqueezeCommander' (http://www.squeezecommander.com) - The SqueezeBox Remote Control App for Android flattermann's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33169 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76584 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Re: [slim] Help please - can't connect to server
A 45% WiFi signal could be a factor. Full computers like your laptop can handle poor WiFi signals much better than a simple network music device. Can you temporarily move the SB3 much closer to the router to see if that corrects the issue? This will help determine if WiFi is the problem. You may be able to boost the routers WiFi signal strength through a few basic WiFi settings and tweaks in your routers Admin functions. - set router to only use G mode (I'm assuming you do not have an N router) - see what ch's (1 thru 11) are in use around you, choose ch 1 or 6 or 11 that is NOT in use - reorient router and/or it's antennas for better coverage to the problem area - move router closer to problem area Just throwing out some basics to get started. :) -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=82292 ___ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss

Thats not suposed to be necessary if port 3483 udp/tcp is open the server should auto discover the player. But who knows if you specifically specify a server that might no longer work ? Static IP is a good idea anyway on the server and the player, no DCHP issues ever anymore. I have a persistent problem: my SB3 regularly stops (several times per day), goes blank and then displays the message 'can't connect to server'. The reconnect (right arrow) command only produces the same message, so I have to go through the whole (left arrow)'set up networking' 'obtain IP'etc process every time, which is tiresome and spoils my enjoyment of the music. The SB3 is in a bedroom where it gets a 45% signal from the router/Vortexbox downstairs - and where my laptop works fautlessly, so I guess it is probsbly not queation of signal strength.
