Re: [slim] Comparisons between current (2022) streaming service integrations?

2022-02-09 Thread trans_lux

I really like Qobuz specifically the quality, lack of any DRM and the
ability to purchase hi-res music at a very reasonable cost, when you
subscribe to the annual Studio Sublime.
I’ve found as others have mentioned that searching for content can
sometimes be tricky. If you don’t get the search string right it doesn’t
show up.
I use LMS & Roon and the Qobuz IOS app when outside of the home.
IMHO it just sounds so much better it’s worth the effort.

Ha! Well yes speakers, stands and cables not included in the cost.

[slim] HiFiBerry Amp2 + piCorePlayer pCP4.0.0 sounds amazing!

2018-10-07 Thread trans_lux

I know a little late to the party but wanted to share my experience with
the hifiberry AMP 2.
In short it sounds amazing!

I'm using Squeezelite via the always fantastic piCorePlayer pCP4.0.0
Experimental RealTime Kernel running on a pi3.
External 18V DC 3A power supply from Amazon http://a.co/d/23xxwkb
atm driving a pr of Dynaudio Excite X18's 86dB (2,83V / 1m) 4 Ohms
https://www.dynaudio.com/home-audio/excite/x18
Room is modest 14'x20'x10', leans toward being lively-hardwood floors,
fair amount of windows.
I sit about 15' away.

Overall the sound is very good.
Listened to a wide range of music, classical, classic rock, edm...
Neutral tonality with excellent transparency.
I can easily hear the difference between Spotify, Tidal and high-bit
rate files.
Plenty of power for me, I don't listen that loud, max 90dB at my main
listing position.

Does it sound as good as my big rig? No
But for the room and the speakers its an excellent match.
If you add in the fact that the total cost is less than $150 it's a
ridiculous bargain.

Any questions, comments etc. please let me know.

TL

Re: [slim] noob ? Best way to save/preset streaming radio stations

2008-01-30 Thread trans_lux

Thanks for the prompt reply!
I know this is very basic but I can't seem to be able to start/stop
slimserver. When I use /etc/init.d/slimserver restart I get :

Shutting down SlimServer: pidof: invalid options on command line!

pidof: invalid options on command line!

[FAILED]
Starting SlimServer: [ OK ]
I recall reading somewhere you can add it to the Clarkconnet web util
but can't find the daemon.list

[slim] noob ? Best way to save/preset streaming radio stations

2008-01-29 Thread trans_lux

Hello
Having trouble figuring out how to create a preset for my beloved
somafm stations. Currently I paste the url into the Radio URL box.
I have tried Mypicks and Wikiradio but just can't get this to work.
Wikiradio only shows helpmechill.com and Mypicks crashes and needs the
server to restarted to access again.
Running SlimServer Version: 6.5.5 - 14805 - On Clark Connect
Any help is greatly appreciated.
