[Dx-packages] [Bug 984916] Re: Java Swing applications do not work with appmenu
Hi Bruno, sounds great, I'm working on version 2, with support all Java Version including Open JDK 6 and it doesn't need endorsed libraries, only require a _JAVA_OPTIONS environment variable to work, also it only need a shell file in /etc/profile.d because it's based on Java Agent (like a debug process). But I don't have any idea how create a ppa repository, can you help me to publish a new version of JAyatana? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to libdbusmenu in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/984916 Title: Java Swing applications do not work with appmenu Status in Application menu module for GTK+: Confirmed Status in DBus Menu: Confirmed Status in “libdbusmenu” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Bug #618587 tracks integration of appmenu with SWT, but there appears to be nothing filed about integration with javax.swing.JMenuBar (mentioned at the bottom of bug #659931). Expected (at least ideal) behavior: when running Unity and giving focus to a JFrame with a JMenuBar, the menu bar is not displayed inside the frame, but corresponding menus are displayed in the global Unity menu. Actual behavior on 11.10: the menu bar is displayed inside the frame, and appmenu is empty. For comparison, the Mac OS X JRE automatically displays Swing menus in the native location. libjava-gnome-java is perhaps the place to put in such a fix; assuming the JRE itself is not modified, an application wishing to take advantage of the fix would probably need to try to load /usr/share/java/gtk.jar and (if present) call a simple "register" method. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1167018] Re: blurred dash distorted in ubuntu 13.04 with ATI Radeon Xpress X1250 RS690
Marco--I'm told making the biggest patch a distro patch doesn't eliminate the need for a CLA and further isn't acceptable in that form. Also I think my uploaded array hack is too messy and hard to read and should be done as a vector of structures in order to be clear. I describe that method in the linked article but haven't uploaded that code. I think you can see what loops to increase by one iteration from the two smallest patches. They aren't needed to fix this problem and are extremely simple. Maybe you can double check me that they are off by one and can change the for loops by one if you agree with me. The other, more important problem IMHO is that shaders are stored by the num_pass and that's confused with sigma in NuxGraphics/GraphicsEngine.h I wasn't able to really fix this but it may be more important to fix as it seems to me to create an out of bounds condition on the saved shader program arrays. The variable num_pass currently should be (sigma*3)+1 if memory serves. I worry that out of bounds conditions can show up in very difficult problems that can arise anytime and can be hard to find. Therefore I'm eager to fix them. I don't know of any filed bug arising from this, however. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to nux in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 838731] Re: Launcher - The Nautilus and USB drive icons in the Launcher should be valid drop targets for all types of files and folders
Fix committed into lp:unity at revision None, scheduled for release in unity, milestone 7.1.1 ** Changed in: unity Status: In Progress => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838731 Title: Launcher - The Nautilus and USB drive icons in the Launcher should be valid drop targets for all types of files and folders Status in Ayatana Design: Fix Committed Status in Unity: Fix Committed Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: The Nautilus and USB drive icons in the Launcher should be valid drop targets for all types of files and folders When a user starts dragging a file or folder, Launcher icons that are valid drop targets are highlighted by means of all the other Launcher icons dimming. However HOME and USB drive launcher icons do not currently remain illuminated even though they should be valid drop targets for all files and folders. Desired solution: - HOME and USB drive icons (and any other icons that represent storage devices) in the Launcher should remain illuminated when a user starts performing a file or folder drag action. - The exception to the above statement is when the drag originates from a Nautilus window. In this case the originating Launcher icon should not be highlighted, e.g. when dragging a file from a USB drive, the USB drive the file is being dragged from should not illuminate. - Dropping a file or folder on to a HOME and USB drive icon should copy that file or folder to the directory that is currently in focus. For example, if no HOME window is currently open, dropping a file on to the HOME icon should copy that file into the /home/[User]/ directory. However if Nautilus has been opened by clicking on the HOME Launcher icon and is currently displaying the /Pictures/ directory, dropping the file on to the HOME launcher icon should copy the file to the /Pictures/ directory. - If multiple Nautilus windows have been opened by clicking on a single Launcher entry (e.g. by middle clicking several times on the HOME icon), droping a file on to the Launcher entry (e.g. HOME icon) copies the file to the most recently focused of these windows. - In line with the standard Launcher drag and drop behavour, if there multiple windows have been opened from a single storage icon (e.g. HOME), holding the file over the Launcher icon should trigger a spread. This enables the user to then choose which window they would like to copy the file into. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1236467] Re: A single misbehaving application using too much memory can hang the whole system into unrecoverable unresponsiveness, forcing you to turn power off
X seems likely. If you wouldn't mind, please run "apport-collect --package xorg", which should grab all relevant information. Quinn Balazs ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1236467 Title: A single misbehaving application using too much memory can hang the whole system into unrecoverable unresponsiveness, forcing you to turn power off Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: It is too easy to put the whole system into an unusable state. Just try the following: - figure aout a webpage which is a little heavy to render in Google Chrome (just a page with a few hundred images will do) - open that same page in several tabs in Google Chrome, e.g. by ctrl+clicking the same link a few times. (I guess any other browser will do) Even though there is an issue in Chrome not detecting and preventing such a sudden explosion of memory usage (warning the user and letting him cancel or continue), the window manager MUST always maintain the responsiveness to mouse and keyboard. No matter how disastrous a sudden increase in cpu or memory consumption an application may have, it must never compromise the whole system stability. You should always be able to: - click on the offending application's window's close icon, so as to close the application (and if it doesn't respond, be prompted whether to kill it) - open a terminal to kill the offending process Not only I couldn't do any of those as the system would not respond to keyboard nor mouse (while it was probably swapping huge amounts of memory, which I infer from high disk activity and relatively low cpu activity) but I couldn't even hit ctrl+alt+f1 to open a virtual terminal and kill some process, because most keystrokes wouldn't be caught. It can't be accepted that a single misbehaving application can put the whole system in such a state that the only thing you can do is a hardware power off. I don't know whether this is an issue in the kernel, X.org, the window manager, or all of them. [Dx-packages] [Bug 838731] Re: Launcher - The Nautilus and USB drive icons in the Launcher should be valid drop targets for all types of files and folders
** Branch linked: lp:~3v1n0/unity/volume-icon-dnd -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/838731 Title: Launcher - The Nautilus and USB drive icons in the Launcher should be valid drop targets for all types of files and folders Status in Ayatana Design: Fix Committed Status in Unity: In Progress Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: The Nautilus and USB drive icons in the Launcher should be valid drop targets for all types of files and folders When a user starts dragging a file or folder, Launcher icons that are valid drop targets are highlighted by means of all the other Launcher icons dimming. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1236467] [NEW] A single misbehaving application using too much memory can hang the whole system into unrecoverable unresponsiveness, forcing you to turn power off
Public bug reported: It is too easy to put the whole system into an unusable state. [Dx-packages] [Bug 362261] Re: Option to print the name of the application that send the notification
Ketil, thanks for the suggestion, but I agree with Mirco. Many if not most notification bubbles should be from things that are not apps: connecting to wi-fi, print progress, low battery, and so on. It wouldn't be appropriate to show the app name in any of those cases. So for the cases where it is appropriate, it is up to the app to include the app name. ** Changed in: notify-osd (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to notify-osd in Ubuntu. Currently I use Gwibber and Gnome Do, and they both show status updates. So, the file cannot be dropped to the launcher itself (or to other applications). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/991993 Title: cannot drag & drop to autohide launcher from Nautilus Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Steps to reproduce: 1) set launcher to autohide (system prefs > appearance > behavior) 2) drag something to the launcher, e.g. a manually created, valid desktop entry expected: launcher shows and item can be dropped actual behavior: scared launcher does not show :-) I guess this is intended to not disturb drag&drop operations in some applications by popping up the launcher. There are various workarounds, of course, in particular the intended way to add applications is "opening + keep in launcher", which - however - may not work with some manually created desktop entries. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1236292] Re: Using volume buttons on phone triggers spurious popup
This happens because unity8 doesn't support synchronous notifications in the way that notify-osd does on the desktop. It's not clear yet whether it will ever gain that. Maybe it'll grow a different API that is private to system components. Until then, it's probably best to just disable the notification in indicator-sound. ** Also affects: indicator-sound Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: indicator-sound Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: indicator-sound Assignee: (unassigned) => Lars Uebernickel (larsu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-sound in Ubuntu. It seems to be working (at least in Raring). [Dx-packages] [Bug 1222602] Re: [regression] [gen3] Mesa 9.2 makes Unity unusable on Atom class hardware and 943/945 graphics controllers
i915 Gallium driver on an Atom N270. -Opening the dash, shut down window, etc. is much faster. -The overall performance of this driver is much slower. Even fade effects on context menus cause stuttering. This is not improved by setting MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=1.4. -Some visual effects don't seem to work correctly. For example the background on the dash is not blurred or transparent. It is a solid color with a gradient. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to nux in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 390508] Re: notifyOSD ignores the expire timeout parameter
Some notes: * the documentation issue has been addressed in 0.7.6 by upstream with that commit: https://git.gnome.org/browse/libnotify/commit/?id=91280420269c98e408adc0db1e1d1e74cf24c71c (which adds a "Note that the timeout may be ignored by the server." note) * the version with that fix is in saucy * the new version of GNOME/gnome-shell ignore that parameter the same way that notify-osd is doing: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=701645 That's probably not likely to make the users who want to be able to configure that setting, but it seems to be where desktop are heading... ** Bug watch added: GNOME Bug Tracker #701645 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=701645 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to notify-osd in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1222602] Re: [regression] [gen3] Mesa 9.2 makes Unity unusable on Atom class hardware and 943/945 graphics controllers
Olibaf: the new driver is a great improvement, but it is still not good enough I am afraid. For example, with the new driver the Dash still takes about 4 seconds to show, coming up in several steps. With the workaround setting MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=1.4 it comes up in about than 0.5 seconds. Before the new driver and without the workaround the Dash took tens of seconds to come up. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to nux in Ubuntu. Looks to me like the mouse is initially not properly detected, therefore declared as an unkown device and since icons for unknown devices seem to not exist the missing icon is returned. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1222602] Re: [regression] [gen3] Mesa 9.2 makes Unity unusable on Atom class hardware and 943/945 graphics controllers
I attach a 32 bit version of i915 gallium driver. If someone want to test if this is better than the default non-gallium driver, copy the file in /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri , overwriting the existing one (save the original before, to be safe). Then restart X and make sure to verify you are running the new gallium driver (type in a shell glxinfo | grep OpenGL ). Note that this was build under raring, hopefully it should work on saucy also. ** Attachment added: "gallium i915 32 bit - overwrite the same file in /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/1222602/+attachment/3863794/+files/i915_dri.so -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to nux in Ubuntu.
