[Dx-packages] [Bug 1233205] Re: maximize then unmaximize of gnome-terminal shrinks window
maybe has some connection with https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1228470 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1233205 Title: maximize then unmaximize of gnome-terminal shrinks window Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This sounds a lot like bug 772972, but I'm seeing it in saucy. If you maximize a gnome-temrinal and then un-maximize it, it will shrink by a full column and row. * run 'gnome-terminal' * click the maximize button (or keybinding 'maximize') * click the unmaximize button (or keybinding 'unmaximize') * notice that window has shrunk (if you do it repeatedly you'll end up with a very small window). This seems to have regressed somewhat recently in saucy for me, but I"m not too sure to be honest. If "start onboard minimized" is enabled, the whole shell UI does not appear after typing user password and hitting Enter in the login screen. Cursor can be moved and wallpaper is visible (also SSHing works so the PC does not crash). steps to recreate: 1) Install Ubuntu 11.04 2) on first boot, in the login screen, open assistive tech and enable on-screen keyboard. 3) login using the on-screen keyboard. Unity comes up as intended. 4) go to application "Assistive Technologies", enable assistive technologies, enable "password dialogs as normal windows", select onboard as the keyboard application and enable "run at start". 4) open onboard, go to settings and enable "start onboard minimized". 5) reboot 6) login screen and on-screen keyboard appears. 7) use keyboard to login, pressing enter after typing password. 8) Unity does not come up, only cursor and wallpaper visible. steps to revert: 1) reboot 2) in login screen, select "Ubuntu Classic" as the session. 3) login, Gnome 2 comes up as expected. 4) open onboard and disable option "start onboard minimized". 5) logout/reboot 6) login with "Ubuntu" as the session (to use Unity). So with Gnome 2, onboard's start minimized works as expected, while in Unity the whole shell fails to appear when logging in. Mostly means that the top bar of unity is ok but the rest is black and if I move a window from the main screen to the additional screen then the windows is not drawn. I found out that removing $HOME/.gconfd/saved_state after having logout, will allow to "reset" the situation. But once started Eclipse is not recognized by the launcher any more which means it does not bring up the Eclipse window when clicking on it but tries to start another instance. I had this same behaviour with dockbarx, but there I can manually fix the window identifier for eclipse in a context menu of the launcher. This is not possible in Unity - and I believe it also should not be - but it should work out of the box. There is also a lot of strange behaviour with eclipse and the unity bar, e.g.: When I start eclipse with the launcher in the bar and the uncheck "Keep in launcher" the eclipse icons disappears completely even though the application is running. When I then close eclipse and start it again it still is not displayed. Only logout&loging (or supposedly restarting unity) resolves this. If you need more infos or test, please let me know. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/750728 Title: Unity dock does not obey compiz window rules plugin Status in Unity: Expired Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Binary package hint: unity I have a window which is set by window rules to skip taskbar and be unclosable. To be precise, I have an instance of the terminal emulator terminator as part of my desktop background (i.e. I made it unclosable, skip taskbar, unminimizable, unmaximizable, fixed size, fixed placement, unmovable, sticky, undecorated) I have other windows of the same class that should be picked up by the taskbar. If I open an ordinary terminator window, the dock says there are two terminators, and allows me to close my (supposedly uncloable) background terminator. If I close the normal window, it still says there is one terminator open, which is the background terminator it is not supposed to see, as you can confirm by trying to close it. You will also get the same issue if you try to make a launcher on the unity dock for terminator. This bug did not exist in gnome-panel - it also doesn't appear in cairo-dock. So I presume that unity's taskbar has something wrong with it. To reproduce: Install terminator from the repository. Set Skip Taskbar and nonclosable in Window Rules to role=testing. Run 'terminator --role=testing' (My Alt-F2 refuses to run this; you may need to use a terminal to run the command) Open another terminator instance without the --role=testing switch, and/or try to make terminator a launcher. You will observe the dock misbehaving. This is implemented by gnome- settings-daemon through its xrandr and media-keys plugins. The rationale for using this keybinding is that it is used by modern versions of Windows and that Microsoft has been encouraging manufacturers to remap their dedicated mode switch key sequences (e.g. Fn+F7 or similar) to the Windows+P key sequence. So not supporting the sequence can also cause the dedicated mode switch sequence to fail. Some information on this behaviour can be found here: http://mjg59.livejournal.com/121851.html When using Unity, the key sequence just brings up the side bar briefly. I think Unity should either perform the video mode switch (possibly by invoking the method on g-s-d's xrandr plugin), or pass the keypress though so that it can be handled by g-s-d. [Dx-packages] [Bug 779867] Re: Secondary X screen doesn't have app launcher
[Expired for unity (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60 days.] ** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Expired -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779867 Title: Secondary X screen doesn't have app launcher Status in Unity: Expired Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Expired Bug description: Binary package hint: unity With the nVidia driver and the "separate X screen" setting, the secondary X screen (screen1) is useless. I can see it, I see the wallpaper image, I can move the mouse cursor and right-click on the background. However, I see no way to place an application on it. In other words, the second app launcher and system tray/menu bar for this screen is missing for screen1. You can launch a program on screen1 with "$ xterm -display :0.1 &" but it has no window decorations, and it cannot get keyboard focus.
