[Dx-packages] [Bug 876608] Re: unity shell doesn't fully load
Joe Areeda, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. First, execute at a terminal: cd /var/crash && sudo rm * ; sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y upgrade && sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. If you run the command against the crash report and a window pops up asking you to report this, but then never opens a new report, you would be affected by https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921 . In order to WORKAROUND this, one would need to open the following file via a command line: gksudo gedit /etc/apport/crashdb.conf and comment out the line: 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], by changing it to: # 'problem_types': ['Bug', 'Package'], Save, close, and try to file the crash report again via: ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash Please follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingCompiz when you file this crash report so the necessary information is provided. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thank you for your understanding. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1213829] Re: Unity panel crashes when switching tabs in Kile
A workaround that disables the global menubar and enables the menu bar in Kile is to do as follows: Open ~/.kde/share/config/kilerc and change the following line: MenuBar=Disabled to MenuBar=Enabled After this, launch Kile from Terminal by typing QT_X11_NO_NATIVE_MENUBAR=1 kile This should keep the unity-panel-service from crashing and restarting. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1263205] Re: unity-menu in gimp and libre office writer greys out active entries
I found that with Libreoffice if I changed something, opened the menu, save and undo were greyed out. If I moved away from the menu and then went back to it, save and undo were now available. Further, the shortcut underlines do not appear in the menu. This is a source of considerable grief to me, as in 'Good Grief!'. I have got round this by uninstalling 'indicator-appmenu'. Menus go back to the top of each window, and work properly. I have been trying to adjust to unity menus, but if the menus don't work properly I can't possibly do so. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity-gtk-module in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1263205 Title: unity-menu in gimp and libre office writer greys out active entries Status in “unity-gtk-module” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: There seem to be a problem with interaction between some programs (in my case Libre Office and Gimp in the versions that come with Ubtunt 13.10) and the menu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1270800] [NEW] Losing text fields focus when changing keyboard's layout
Public bug reported: Hello. There is a moment with changing keyboard's layout in 13.10 (and it was in 12.10, but the focus was returning immediately so I could type in new language in the moment). I change it using Alt+Shift. While I'm pressing on theese buttons, the focus is left from any textfield (single lines, many lines). It causes some problems. The first is that focus doesn't return immediately, so sometimes if I type very fast, the first letters I typed after the changing will not be shown. The second is that some programs select all text in the box when the focus returned (for example Flash), so I need to put the caret in the right position. The third is sending useless in this situation onfocus events. The first is that focus doesn't
[Dx-packages] [Bug 616447] Re: Launcher - Quit does not actually quit applications

Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/616447 Title: Launcher - Quit does not actually quit applications Status in Ayatana Design: Fix Committed Status in One Hundred Papercuts: Triaged Status in Unity: Triaged Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: This bug report is about the Quit option listed under the context menu for all running programs in the Unity shell. I will start with examples: * Choosing Quit with Rhythmbox will close the main window, but the process continues to run. (The indicator provides a duplicate Quit option that does the right thing, but even if that was merged with the existing Quit option it would not be a sustainable solution). * I have Dropbox running in the background, and Unity has cleverly added it to the launcher panel with its indicator menu available. Choosing Quit does nothing, because Dropbox is a daemon with no toplevel windows. From the looks of it, Unity is just closing every window attached to the application's process and wrongly assumes this will cause it to quit. In fact, that often does not happen, and it is a very strange, semantically unclear behaviour. Desired solution: - Do the right thing by sending the _process_ a QUIT signal. If a GUI app doesn't handle that signal properly, that is its problem and it should be fixed there. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1201679] Re: ibus' Super+Space shortcut (usually) doesn't work

Add the ubuntu-desktop PPA on Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy" sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-desktop/ppa sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo apt-get install indicator-keyboard 2. Log out and log back in. 2. Open System Settings>Region & Language 3. Switch to the Text Entry tab. 4. Click the + button to add at least two more keyboard layouts. 5. Log out and log back in. 6. Try to use the (new) default Super+Space keyboard shortcut to switch between keyboard layouts. What happens --- Usually, Super+Space is ignored. It worked for me once on login but every other time I tested it didn't work. It works fine in GNOME Shell but not in Unity. gsettings reset org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.media-keys switch-input-source seems to be enough to nudge Unity into respecting the Super+Space keyboard shortcut. My guess is that Unity is too aggressive in binding the Super key to itself. Workaround - Shift+Super+Space, the keyboard shortcut to switch backward between keyboard layouts works.
