[Dx-packages] [Bug 1240595] Re: [regression] Unity Launcher & Panel is gone after leaving full screen unredirected windows

2014-02-02 Thread Saiph Kappa
This Ubuntu version 13.10 has been really annoying for me... Apart from
this bug, I also got a few others:

-> mouse wheel does not work with gedit
-> keyboard leds do not turn on anymore (capslock and num lock)
->After listening to music with headphones, when I boot the pc next time
without headphones plugged, no sound comes from the speakers (and I have to go
to the sound settings to fix this every time)
-> with 2 monitors, with one of them in full hd, everything starts flickering,
and I have to lower the resolution

What is more striking is that none of these bugs happened in the
previous version 13.04. ubuntu devs are just making harder for me to
keep with this distro.

linuxmint over ubuntu to friends.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1163041] Re: Inconsistent behaviour with minimized Trash windows

2014-02-02 Thread Alfred Neumayer
I hate to be annoying but since feature freeze is aproaching quickly,
this should be looked at very soon. It would be a bummer if such an
obvious UX inconsistency lands in an LTS release.

Inconsistent behaviour with minimized Trash windows

Bug description:
Now with a fix for LP: #753938 being merged into raring, this presents
a new usability challenge to users.

  The issue:
When you open a trash window from the launcher and minimize it, it gets
minimized into the Nautilus icon.
However, a user would then expect to get the window back by clicking the icon
where the window minimized into in the first place,
in this case, the Nautilus icon in the launcher.
Instead, it opens a new Nautilus window.
The issue here is that trash windows and every other Nautilus window are only
seperated logically from each other, but not visually.

  The fix:
When minimizing the trash window, instead of minimizing into the Nautilus
icon, it should minimize the window into the trash icon in the launcher.
I'm purely talking about the minimize animation and triangle next to the
trash icon here.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1244285] Re: Date/time sometimes doesn’t appear in menu bar, settings greyed out (Ubuntu 13.10)

2014-02-02 Thread Eric Ongerth
This bug has returned today on my machine (fully updated Saucy / 13.10
64-bit) after seeming fixed for months. I had to "killall unity-panel-
service" as an immediate/temporary solution but I hope it will be fixed
in distribution.

Is it the same as this one?

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1228360] Re: No clock in menu bar and can't edit Clock settings

2014-02-02 Thread Eric Ongerth
I had this bug back when Saucy was new, and the fix for it back then
worked.

It returned today for the first time on Saucy (fully updated). "killall
unity-panel-service" worked as an immediate fix, but I hope the bug does
not return. This was on a fresh boot. Apparently something
regressed?

The same workaround worked for me.
Thanks Massimo !

  SRU INFORMATION:
  FIX: https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/9e1ebe3ab (in trusty
already)

Regression potential: Low. Flushing the session bus was introduced in
version 4 and is obviously bogus as in a system D-BUS service there is
no session bus. This causes lots of confusing error messages and
unnecessary overhead like trying to start dbus-launch. Flushing the
system bus is low-risk, in most cases it's a no-op and it would
otherwise prevent losing signals after waking up. No known
  regressions.

TEST CASE: Run several suspend/resume cycles with the lid, session
indicator menu, and verify that the network comes back up. It is known
that this fix is necessary but not sufficient, so it is not expected
to fix all cases. But it should not make things worse, so if network
now does not come up any more on a machine where it previously worked
  this would count as failure/regression.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 951929] Re: Unity launcher and Alt-Tab switcher missing entry for gnome-terminal

2014-02-02 Thread Mike-coder
On 13.10 ... still present. Seems to mostly affect gnome-terminal; but
maybe that's what I have running most(?) Tends to happen when I have two
terminal sessions running. Close the newer one. The old one is still
running (shows with filled triangle on launcher) but can't switch to it
with alt-tab nor go to it by clicking icon in launcher. Right-click in
launcher does not list it either. Restarting Unity restores it to the
list.

  3) Gnome-Terminal to show in list of programs to alt+tab to.

  4) Alt+Tab consistently fails to show gnome-terminal for 'a while' (I
hate to be vague, I can't figure out what suddenly triggers it to
appear in the box). See attached photograph of it occurring.

I can make it happen at will:

  1) Cold boot into Ubuntu.
  2) Open gnome-terminal.
  3) Open Firefox.
  4) Press alt+tab. alt+tab window only shows Desktop and Firefox.

In attached screenshot, note that gnome-terminal has a highlighted
background and arrow, indicating an instance of it running, as is
  Firefox.

having its own menu bar.
