Bug description:
  steps to get this behavior

  1. "Settings | Appearance | Behavior" set Show the menus for a window in the 
window's title bar
  2. Open qtcreator in Normal Window Size (not maximized) .
  3. Move Mouse to the Title Bar, Menu Bar is showing. Open Menu "Open Help | 
About QtCreator..."
  4. Close Window "About Qt Creator".
  5. Move Mouse to the Title Bar, no menu bar is showing.

  this behavior is also in different QT4 and QT5 Applicaion showing.

Still get that error logged inside a terminal:

Invalid interface to SNW_SERVICE 


It happen with a gnome-shell session when i run some terminal command (here 
vlc) or if the terminal stay opened when a gui app is used.

  I have a laptop which has screensaved "naturally" due to timeout (most
  likely) and it is sitting there showing the lock screen but keyboard
  is still connected to the session, I can alt-tab to applications and
  via IRC i was able to send myself messages (blind) so clearly the
  keyboard is really operational.

  This is using kvm/libvirt with cirrus graphics on a Trusty Tahr host.

Confirmed, I'm seeing this on phablet too.

The problem is that the icon being generated when charging at ~18% looks for:
1. battery-low-charging-symbolic
2. gpm-battery-020-charging
3. battery-020-charging

if battery-low-charging-symbolic were moved to the end of the list, the
more granular battery-XXX-charging icons would take precedence.

I agree with Sam, this ticket isn't fixed until this behavior gets
fixed.

  Battery icon does not reliably display correct values at low battery
  levels.

  The icon works fine until you get below 30%. At 10-30% a small red
  icon should be displayed, and another icon should be displayed at
  <10%. Currently, the icon doesn't seem to change to anything smaller
  than the 40% icon.

  I have sometimes seen the red 20% icon, but it's very unreliable, and
  typically switches back to the 40% icon moments after resuming the
  phone.

GNOME does allow defining a default calendar (System Settings -> Details
-> Default Applications), so that could be used by indicator-datetime as
well.  But as Charles pointed out, since indicator-datetime is
displaying calendar events, it should probably be keyed to a calendar
application that can display those same events as well.  If indicator-
datetime is opened up to "any" calendar app, like Lightning, then I
would think the user experience demands that indicator-datetime have an
internal interface into the application's known events, i.e.
liblightning, if such a thing existed.  I suppose a D-Bus interface
could be spec'd out, sort of like Messaging Menu, but I'd be happy with
just using the .desktop file as a first step.  (To be clear, I'm not
wedded to my proposed key names, I was just being verbose for clarity's
sake.)

  It appears that Unity's calendar indicator (in the global menu, right-
  side of the screen) is hardwired to launch Evolution if an event is
  selected.  In System Settings, the only checkbox relevant to this is
  to show "Coming events from Evolution Calendar".

  It'd be nice if instead the Unity calendar indicator would launch the
  user's chosen default calendar application.

  I'm not suggesting that the calendar indicator quit using Evolution
  Data Server for calendar information, just which application is
  launched in response to a user event.

  it takes several seconds for the screen to become locked (sometimes even

This happened to me too a couple of times. The first lockscreen accepted
my password, let me in for a second and then the lockscreen was
presented again and from that prompt my password leaked to application
with focus behind the locker. I removed light-locker package and didn't
see the problem anymore... Until after a day or two bug appeared again
and this time my password leaked to IRC.

It seems that Tahr wasn't so trusty. I changed to a different window
environment a month ago and "surprisingly" haven't seen the problem
since then. I'm wondering if this problem is still present, haven't been
brave enough to test Unity since then...

Bug description:
  Unity is in a state where I don't get any results from the
  applications lens. This sometimes happens for one search but either
  re-entering the search or toggling the lens has always fixed it in the
  past for me. This time neither of these steps work.

  searched for "spotify", which I've got installed, and got 0 results.

If you mean before the very first query, I don't know when the problem's
going to happen (have no reproduction recipe), so unless I just run it
at every session startup we're not going to catch this state.

Unfortunately the bustle log just shows that the home scope doesn't
query the applications scope, but it's not known why. It would be useful
if bustle was run earlier, so the initial query (and reason it
presumably? failed) to the applications scope would be visible.

  After booting into the new desktop, I'm not able to search and find
  any apps.

  In particular, I'm searching for "terminal", trying to launch a Gnome
  Terminal.  I'm offered The Terminator movie, for sale, but there's no
  terminal app returned.

  In a separate issue, I search for Gimp, and I receive some not-safe-
  for-work results.

Bug description:
  I'm assuming the issue is related to Compiz, but I'm not 100% sure.
  When I'm switching workspaces, it occasionally locks up (becoming more
  frequent). Most of the time, I'm going from the current one down
  (Ctrl+Alt+Down Arrow), and it freezes mid slide. Typically, I'm able
  to correct things by backing out to a terminal then returning
  (Ctrl+Alt+F1, pause, Alt+F7), but sometimes when I return the dual
  screen setup acts as one large screen (windows are stretched to the
  full width of both screens) and many of the windows collect on the
  first workspace.

I like this idea, and I had suggested this in the spec already, with
"Coming events from" being a menu of calendar apps rather than just an
Evolution checkbox. 

I suggest being much less specific with the key names. The event
function at least would be useful outside of indicator-datetime (for
example, an address book listing which events involve a particular
contact), and indicator-datetime itself both predated and might outlive
Unity.

We would also need some way of defining which is your default calendar
app, similar to how you have a default browser and a default mailer, so
that the correct app is launched when you click on a date.

And then we'd need to define what to do in the delightful edge case
where your default calendar app does not know how to navigate to a day
but a non-default app does.

  It appears that Unity's calendar indicator (in the global menu, right-
  side of the screen) is hardwired to launch Evolution if an event is
  selected.  In System Settings, the only checkbox relevant to this is
  to show "Coming events from Evolution Calendar".

  It'd be nice if instead the Unity calendar indicator would launch the
  user's chosen default calendar application.

  I'm not suggesting that the calendar indicator quit using Evolution
  Data Server for calendar information, just which application is
  launched in response to a user event.

Bug description:
  It may be that my user session is screwed up and that this bug is
  invalid, but anyway I'd appreciate some hints on how to restore the
  functionality.

  I'm using firefox 28.0, and when I visit a webapp-supported website
  and I'm asked for integration and I accept it, nothing happens. For
  instance, when I visit gmail.com, no icon is added to the launcher.
  There is a gmail application in the dash, but I believe it's from an
  older version: in fact, when I start it, the command line being used
  is:

webapp-container --app-id=Gmailmailgooglecom --webapp --enable-back-
  forward https://mail.google.com

  whis seems wrong (the --webapp argument is missing the webapp name).
  I tried removing all webapps from ~/.local/share/applications/, and I also 
removed the ~/.local/share/unity-webapps* directories, but this didn't help.

  This is 100% reproducible on my side with an updated 14.04

  I have a laptop that after 3 minutes of inactivity shutdown the screen
  and lock-it.

  If I press the SUPER button to activate the dash and then I wait 3 minutes 
for auto screen locking the screen become black.
  After that when I move the mouse to go to lockscreen and unlock my session, I 
see the dash on top of the lockscreen.
  I can digit my password and unlock the laptop pressing enter but I cannot see 
the username, box, dots etc
  I think that the screenshot attached explain very whell what I'm writing.

  I think that this is a security problem because as you can see from my
  screenshot other people can see my personal data (file and folders)
  without authorization.

  PREREQUISITE:
  2 phones

  STEPS:
  1. On the Ubuntu Touch Phone (Phone A) add the other phone (Phone B) as a 
contact
  2. Put Phone A to sleep
  3. Send an sms from Phone B to Phone A
  4. Notice that it very briefly displays SMS from +0123445678999 instead of 
the contact deatials.
  5. Hit the notification for the Incoming SMS
  6. Send another message now and you get no Blue icon, No notification, No Ping

  2 things might be happening here from what I can tell so far:
  1. The indicator dies and is in the midst of a restart when the second text 
comes through (no crash log for indicators just one of the only things I can 
think of)
  2. Something is broken in the interaction of the sms system (Possibly 
relating to "The QT bug")

Title:
  unity freezes when the screen sleeps while having a fullscreen flash
  video

Bug description:
  When I'm watching a youtube video on fullscreen, if the screen goes to sleep 
( which happens suddenly, not the normal fading way ), when I move the mouse to 
wake up the screen is frozen while the video still plays normally. ( I mean I 
can still hear it, but the video is still on the same frame )
  also I get a popup to unlock the keyring after the unity restart.

  I go to tty1 and try:
  killing unity-panel-service didn't seem to do any difference.
  restart unity it self seems to get the thing to work again, but the panel 
loads with no indicators at all.

  I'm using 14.04 daily build, upgraded from 13.10, firefox, and the
  normal flash from the software center

  EDIT:
  When I went through the same scenario again after the unity restart, the 
screen faded (as expected) and when i woke up the screen it showed the old 
screen lock, and it didn't freeze, so i guess it might be the new lock screen's 
fault

  Steps to reproduce:

  1) Leave system idle until screen locks and monitor goes dark
  2) Wiggle the mouse to wake up the monitor
  3) Enter password to unlock the screen

  Automatically locks the screen again within 5 to 15 seconds and
  monitor goes dark.

  Unlocking the screen a second time works fine, and the spontaneous
  screen lock doesn't happen as long as I'm actively using the system.

  But if I let it go idle again and the screen locks, then the first
  unlock attempt only lasts a few seconds before having to re-enter the
  password.

  - log into unity
  - lock screen
  - start typing your password on one screen
  - move the pointer on the other screen

  -> the entry is displayed empty

  
  Ideally the same entry would be move so you can keep typing even if you 
happened to have move the focus, that's what lightdm/unity-greeter is doing

Title:
  Dash is visible on top of the lockscreen after screen monitor auto

Bug description:
  This is 100% reproducible on my side with an updated 14.04

  I have a laptop that after 3 minutes of inactivity shutdown the screen
  and lock-it.

  If I press the SUPER button to activate the dash and then I wait 3 minutes 
for auto screen locking the screen become black.
  After that when I move the mouse to go to lockscreen and unlock my session, I 
see the dash on top of the lockscreen.
  I can digit my password and unlock the laptop pressing enter but I cannot see 
the username, box, dots etc
  I think that the screenshot attached explain very whell what I'm writing.

  I think that this is a security problem because as you can see from my
  screenshot other people can see my personal data (file and folders)
  without authorization.

  1) Leave system idle until screen locks and monitor goes dark
  2) Wiggle the mouse to wake up the monitor
  3) Enter password to unlock the screen

  Automatically locks the screen again within 5 to 15 seconds and
  monitor goes dark.

  Unlocking the screen a second time works fine, and the spontaneous
  screen lock doesn't happen as long as I'm actively using the system.

  But if I let it go idle again and the screen locks, then the first
  unlock attempt only lasts a few seconds before having to re-enter the
  password.

  Users of nvidia graphics drivers can see graphics freezes or corruption after 
suspend/resume. Switching to a VT and back to X can potentially solve freeze 
issues, but corruption may result.

  [Test Case]
  Suspend/Resume many times with nvidia graphics and see if the problem happens.

  [Regression Potential]
  This is already in Trusty.

  Perform regular suspend, either from system menu or close laptop lid,
  when system resuming from suspend, it will freeze.

  Switch to VT and back to X can solve freeze issue,
  but the screen are gabled and some character rendering are strange,
  however whole system can perform usual task.

  No results from application lens

Bug description:
  Unity is in a state where I don't get any results from the
  applications lens. This sometimes happens for one search but either
  re-entering the search or toggling the lens has always fixed it in the
  past for me. This time neither of these steps work.

  I'm attaching a bustle log of the problem in case that's helpful. I
  searched for "spotify", which I've got installed, and got 0 results.

@Doug: what you describe is weird. I don't see the issue here (tried on
several installs/accounts), but it could be sign that it depends on what
order things are loaded on login/be a timing between components issue

Title:

Bug description:
  One regression I've had since karmic, and it seem to continue with
  lucid is that in the past I used the upper right corner for the volume
  applet. This allowed me to use fitts law to change the volume (a
  frequent action) without looking away and distracting me from my
  current task.

  Now that the volume applet is gone and its just the volume indicator
  in the indicator applet, there are two problems:

  1) Volume indicator placement is not regular. It depends on
  application startup order, which is not constant from boot to boot. So
  even if I move the indicator applet to be the right most applet,
  there's no certainty that the volume notifier will be on the right.

  2) Even if the volume indicator is the right-most icon in the
  indicator applet, the indicator applet has an invisible boarder,
  causing mouse-wheel scrolling to not land on the volume indicator so
  changes in the volume level do not occur.

  I feel volume changes are a more frequent action then logging in and
  out of a session, it seems silly that a corner has been dedicated to
  the "power button" applet by default. I can of course handle this
  poorly chosen default if its something I can modify, but that doesn't
  seem to be the case here.
