New keyboard layout changer in Ubuntu 13.10 introduce old-new bug. Any
system or application hotkey witch use char (for example: ctrl+alt+t for
terminal or ctrl+t for new tab in browser) become unfunctional when selected
non-latin keyboard layout.
Hotkeys with F1-12, numbers and other non-character buttons works perfectly.

Window manager hotkeys not affected by this bug. All hotkeys in system
parameters->keyboard->hotkeys->windows works perfect with any keyboard
  layout.

Workaround for some system hotkeys and two layouts (english and non-
latin): rebind all hotkeys in your local layout. For example instead
of ctrl+alt+t use ctrl+alt+τ (greek tau). That hotkey still work with
english layout. If you use english and two different non-latin
layouts this workaround helps only with one of them.

  Dear Ubuntu users and developers!
Please include the following information to your comment about non-latin
shortcuts problems:
  1. What Ubuntu version do you have (Ubuntu 13.10, Ubuntu 13.10 GNOME, Ubuntu
14.04, Ubuntu 14.04 GNOME and so on), upgraded (describe version) or clean
installed
  2. What keyboard layout do you have
  3. What shortcut for keyboard layout switching do you use
  4. On which session you have problems - that is one from Unity, GNOME Shell,
GNOME FlashBack/Fallback (Metacity), GNOME FlashBack/Fallback (Compiz)
  5. With which program and its version and origin (Ubuntu repositories, PPA,
non-deb binary package from some website) you have problems.

By providing this information you can make bug-fixing much simpler and
  may be faster.

If you're using GNOME Shell or Classic and affected in
Inkscape/IntelliJ/NetBeans, etc., you can try the PPA here temporarily:

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1208019]

2014-04-27 Thread Arunkumar-thondapu-i
Verified it is fixed on Ubuntu 14.04. The current version of Unity in
Ubuntu 14.04 still does not show the 'Source' and 'Refactor' menus but
even that problem has a fix which should be made available in an update
soon. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-gtk-
module/+bug/1208019/comments/116 for installing the fixed packages now.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1308572] Re: Ubuntu 14.04: security problem in the lock screen

2014-04-27 Thread Seth
@kristian-erik-hermansen Cool find, but utterly irrelevant here. That
bug is about users blindly trusting the screen to auto-lock (which they
_should be able to_).

This bug is about the trust being broken even after they _verified_ that
they had _explicitly_ locked their screens. That's (a) a very different
issue (b) a very different severity of failure.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1313436] Re: Unity/Compiz very slow after resume from suspend

2014-04-27 Thread Chris Cheney
** Attachment added: "Example of problem"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1313436/+attachment/4098712/+files/image.jpg

** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => unity (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: unity (Ubuntu)
   Status: New => Confirmed

** Description changed:

After suspending and then resuming the system unity/compiz often but not
always becomes extremely slow to respond, so much so that you can see
the transistion from lockscreen to desktop for many minutes (if it ever
finishes). I will attach a picture of what it looks like. I didn't wait
around long enough to see if it would ever actually finish showing the
  desktop.

Is there any way to work around this issue? setsid unity has been
mentioned online as a workaround for unity/compiz problems but that does
not appear to work when run from the linux command line outside of X.

The system has never been able to run the nouveau driver due to it
crashing on resume under any desktop environment, which is the primary
- reason its running the nvidia driver.
+ reason its running the nvidia driver which has worked fine for the past
+ 5 years I've owned the system.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1313436] [NEW] Unity/Compiz very slow after resume from suspend

2014-04-27 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

After suspending and then resuming the system unity/compiz often but not
always becomes extremely slow to respond, so much so that you can see
the transistion from lockscreen to desktop for many minutes (if it ever
finishes). I will attach a picture of what it looks like. I didn't wait
around long enough to see if it would ever actually finish showing the
desktop.

Is there any way to work around this issue? setsid unity has been
mentioned online as a workaround for unity/compiz problems but that does
not appear to work when run from the linux command line outside of X.

The system has never been able to run the nouveau driver due to it
crashing on resume under any desktop environment, which is the primary
reason its running the nvidia driver.

  scrollbar:i386" doesn't have an install candidate because it's a
"multi-arch" package. This should (or so I've been told) be reflected
in the meta information of the "overlay-scrollbar" package but isn't,
which is why the former package fails to install.

As a more competent person than I put it:

  "The overlay-scrollbar package does not come in i386 or amd64 flavors;
it comes as an "all" flavor, which installs on all archs.

It appears to be missing the Multi-Arch: allowed header so it won't
satisfy an i386 package depending on it. You should file a bug report
asking that the missing header be added."

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I have two monitors on a GeForce460 graphics card. One monitor is
connected via a DVI switch with which I can switch it between my
computer and my TV-tuner. When I switch it to tv, with the computer
on, then switch it back after a while, both screens are on, but the
image of one screen is stretched to fit both screens. I can't click
"restart", because the mouse sensitivity is not stretched. By
carefully aiming and trying, I can click a button. But it's easier to
just hit crtl-alt-del to re-logon. After logon, screens are normal. I
have had this DVI switch for some time, and until recently I used
gnome-classic, which never caused a problem like this. I'd love to go
back to gnome, but it's broken, and I can't seem to fix it. I'm stuck
with Unity, and I have to ctrl-alt-del after watching TV.

Bug description:

For other layout switching problems introduced in Ubuntu 13.10 you can see

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1313350] [NEW] Menu bar integration fail after filtering app windows in the spread by name

2014-04-27 Thread Jiaxing Wang
Public bug reported:

After filtering and selecting a app window in the spread view, other windows in
the same workspace can't have menu bar
integration when maximized, i.e., their window title bar appears under the
unity menu bar, which can be seen from the attatched
screenshot.

Reproduce step:
1. Open some windows, Terminal and Folder for example.
2. Press Ctrl+w to spread the windows.
3. Type one window name and select the window.
4. The other window can't have menu bar integration when maximized(no matter
the other windows were maximized or not).

When this occurs, open the spread by Ctrl+w and select one window by
mouse click recovers the issue.

Bug description:
As per request from bug #1184262, this is a new report, along with
  dbus (to be attached)

  ProblemType: Bug
  DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10
  Package: systemd-services 204-0ubuntu19
  Uname: Linux 3.12.0-custom x86_64
  ApportVersion: 2.12.5-0ubuntu2.1
  Architecture: amd64
  Date: Sun Nov 17 20:24:41 2013
  MarkForUpload: True
  SourcePackage: systemd
UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to saucy on 2013-10-17 (31 days ago)

  SRU INFORMATION:
  FIX: https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/9e1ebe3ab (in trusty
already)

Regression potential: Low. Flushing the session bus was introduced in
version 4 and is obviously bogus as in a system D-BUS service there is
no session bus. This causes lots of confusing error messages and
unnecessary overhead like trying to start dbus-launch. Flushing the
system bus is low-risk, in most cases it's a no-op and it would
otherwise prevent losing signals after waking up. No known
  regressions.

TEST CASE: Run several suspend/resume cycles with the lid, session
indicator menu, and verify that the network comes back up. It is known
that this fix is necessary but not sufficient, so it is not expected
to fix all cases. But it should not make things worse, so if network
now does not come up any more on a machine where it previously worked
  this would count as failure/regression.

  - Set ctrl+shift as shortcut for switching keyboard layouts

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1313280] [NEW] Fullscreen window set to "Always on Top" will hide the lockscreen

2014-04-27 Thread KillaW0lf04
Public bug reported:

Im running on Ubuntu 14.04 and noticed this while watching a video last
time.

There is a really easy way to replicate this bug:
* Open a video in Totem
* Set Totem to "Always on Top"
* Make Totem full screen
* Manually Lock the screen using Super+L
* Notice that the lockscreen is hidden by totem.

If you don't lock it manually and just pause the video and let it lock
automatically this will show the same behavior.

The same behavior occurs with any application that can enter full screen
mode.

On Ubuntu 14.04 LTS at least LibreOffice Writer and Gimp can start
