[Dx-packages] [Bug 1321221] Re: apps in different workspaces are collapsing into a smaller number of workspaces
Hi Jason, Thanks for getting back to me. This is definitely a Compiz issue. The good news is that I've been working on some fixes for situations like yours. If you feel somewhat adventurous, I have a test package that may fix this issue. It can found at https://launchpad.net/~townsend/+archive /compiz-test. If you do install it and it doesn't fix the issue, breaks other things (hopefully not:)), or you do not want to use it any more, you can always use ppa-purge to go back to the official version of Compiz in the archive. If you need help on adding my PPA, let me know and I'll give you some direction. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1321221] Re: apps in different workspaces are collapsing into a smaller number of workspaces
1. Yes! As I'm doing the "one app per workspace" thang, I maximize the app 2. it's a latop and I dock it at work (ie external monitor) and undock to take home (with no external monitor), but I'm mostly sure this issue happens even during one of those periods. eg last night at home I was working away and jumped to a window I'd been in before and it was full of other apps. But I do agree this is primarily noticed when I am interacting for the first time after changing laptop <->docked 3. yes. I sleep it to/from work to home - which goes hand in hand with the docked/laptop transition, so maybe it's nothing to do with external monitors and more to do with sleeping (or maybe how sleep affects display renegotiation after waking up?) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. I still have 8 - but most are empty There is no error, and they (say) go from 5 in use to (say) 3 in use - not a total collapse and not showing any app dependency. eg I may find firefox and thunderbird in the same workspace and another time find remmina sitting underneath some terminal shells The only extra piece of info is that it appears to only happen to the workspaces that I'm not currently in. ie I don't see this happening in the current one - always another one. Hi Jason, Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. This is most likely a problem in Compiz. I'm trying to tackle issues like this. [Dx-packages] [Bug 998285] Re: Tapping alt-tab switches between windows of the same application sometimes
Andreas wrote: "The reason for using shortcuts to switch windows is to do it automatically and without thought." This is so right. It is very annoying not to able to predict the behavior of alt-tab, to do it without thinking about where you were a few minuttes ago. Hence, in this case, alt-tab duplicates the action of alt-`. Here is an example: 1) create the stack with two nautilus windows at the top, e.g. Nautilus window 1 (N1), Nautilus window 2 (N2), and Firefox window (F1) (but you can use any applications). Create the stack either by [clicking F1, N2, N1] or [switching to Nautilus with alt-tab, then alt-` to the other Nautilus window]. 2) Tap alt-tab. What happens: I switch to the other nautilus window. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1321221] [NEW] apps in different workspaces are collapsing into a smaller number of workspaces
Public bug reported: I have just migrated from Fedora/Gnome3 and am too used to workspaces to get along with the defaults that unity has :-) So I have used unity-tweak-tool to give myself 8x1 workspaces, and put thunderbird in one, firefox in another, etc. What I am finding is several times PER DAY I suddenly discover that a bunch of apps are now in the same workspace rather than the separate ones I put them into. Any system or application hotkey witch use char (for example: ctrl+alt+t for terminal or ctrl+t for new tab in browser) become unfunctional when selected non-latin keyboard layout. Hotkeys with F1-12, numbers and other non-character buttons works perfectly. Window manager hotkeys not affected by this bug. All hotkeys in system parameters->keyboard->hotkeys->windows works perfect with any keyboard layout. Workaround for some system hotkeys and two layouts (english and non- latin): rebind all hotkeys in your local layout. For example instead of ctrl+alt+t use ctrl+alt+τ (greek tau). That hotkey still work with english layout. If you use english and two different non-latin layouts this workaround helps only with one of them. Dear Ubuntu users and developers! Please include the following information to your comment about non-latin shortcuts problems: 1. What Ubuntu version do you have (Ubuntu 13.10, Ubuntu 13.10 GNOME, Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 14.04 GNOME and so on), upgraded (describe version) or clean installed 2. What keyboard layout do you have 3. What shortcut for keyboard layout switching do you use 4. On which session you have problems - that is one from Unity, GNOME Shell, GNOME FlashBack/Fallback (Metacity), GNOME FlashBack/Fallback (Compiz) 5. With which program and its version and origin (Ubuntu repositories, PPA, non-deb binary package from some website) you have problems. By providing this information you can make bug-fixing much simpler and may be faster. -- For other layout switching problems introduced in Ubuntu 13.10 you can see bug 1218322. -- To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/df-libreoffice/+bug/1226962/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages Post to : dx-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~dx-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Dx-packages] [Bug 1245473] Re: Binding ctrl+shift, alt+shift, etc for switching keyboard layout makes shortcuts with ctrl+shift, etc not working in any program
I use Ubuntu 14.04 and this bug still present. If you can, please fix it. I use Alt+shift and this combination does not work with other keys in programs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1316978] Re: ubuntu-touch-session needs to be able to start even if the homedir is filled to 100%
Okay, cool. If you have a more general purpose fix, then awesome. In addition, the deduplication fix is included in an upcoming MR that's being SRU'd to trusty. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to hud in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316978 Title: ubuntu-touch-session needs to be able to start even if the homedir is filled to 100% Status in Ubuntu CI Services: New Status in “android” package in Ubuntu: Invalid Status in “dbus” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “hud” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Status in “ubuntu-touch-session” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: When the ~/phablet tree has media files added to it by the user, it is possible for the storage space to be filled, and consequently for the device not to boot. From the OEM project bug: "After further investigation this problem was caused by the following: 1) Files were pushed to ~phablet/ 2) The files filled the home partition completely 3) Upon a restart of the phone the upstart session job /usr/share/upstart/sessions/dbus.conf is attempted 4) Because the partition is full, the final line of the pre-start stanza fails as $HOME/.cache/upstart/dbus-session cannot be created 5) As there is no running dbus session instance unity8 fails to start Clearing space on the home partition allows unity8 to start again." Posted here, since following discussion in #ubuntu-touch it has the same underlying cause as bug #1270248, also reported on this package. Raised as a separate bug, because this was caused by user action, rather than simply the system failing to do log housekeeping.
