[Dx-packages] [Bug 1083084] Re: add option for alt-tab window grouping disable
Alt-tab window grouping is a real productivity killer to a keyboard- oriented programmer. I frequently switch between a small number of windows while writing code. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1226962] Re: Hotkeys not functional in non-latin keyboard layout in 13.10 and 14.04
Awesome news! I found fix for this. 1) Disable of gnome control over keyboard: gsettings set org.gnome.settings-daemon.plugins.keyboard active false 2) Set desired settings for xkb: setxkbmap -option grp:rctrl_toggle,lv3:menu_switch us,ru,ua You can add this to autostart Here I switch layout with Right Control, Menu key is used for third level of keys and I use three layouts: English, Russian and Ukrainian. One notice: keyboard indicator on panel lives in parallel reality in such setup, so I'm using gXneur to indicate current layout (only this, and disabled input monitoring, looks like gXneur is broken in Ubuntu 13.10-14.04 with GNOME and Unity) and disabled original one in keyboard settings. As the result - I have all possible shortcuts working on any layout, switching layout with one key - right ctrl (not possible otherwise in GNOME) and separate layouts per windows and keyboard indicator with gXneur. Yes, such ugly but perfectly working hacks because of "smart" decisions of GNOME developers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1310316] Re: Text scaling factor changing unexpectedly
I too expereince system fonts suddenly being displayed at a much lower scaling factor than the 0,9 I have set. I suspect that this could have happen when I take the laptop in and out of its docking station changing between the laptop screen and a monitor with a higher resolution. Also I observe strange behaviour when I try to reset the scaling factor in gnome-tweak-tool. Usually the scale factor have been set to something like 0.5. Some disappear, then reappear. All the following are current. 1. Firefox and Thunderbird no longer find internet connection when connected wirelessly. System reports wireless connection is established and working, but neither FF nor TB cab find it. Wired connection works OK. This problem first appeared in early December and has continued to date (January 24, 2014). 2. Booting HP Pavilion dv6 laptop fails when external power is connected. Boots OK on battery alone. Bug reported. Problem appeared after January 1, 2014. 3. Firefox loses tab history -- it's still there, but inaccessable unless I reboot. Long-standing issue. 4. Right-click no longer works in Firefox. Can't copy or cut-and- paste. 5. After running for more than a few hours, Firefox window frames become transparent and Firefox no longer works. 6. When using LibreOffice, screen updates cause brief, but very annoying, display flashing or blanking. Blanking is sometimes extended up to ten seconds. (AMD A-8 quad-core processor with 6 GB main memory!). Very alarming. 7. Lost ability to scroll, etc. using "gestures" shortly after January 1, 2014. 8. Unity magically appearing/disappearing scroll tabs replaced Gnome's hard scrollbars. That's not nice. I don't like them. 9. Firefox never, ever restores automagically (though it always did in 10.04 LTS and does on Linux Mint). This issue has been outstanding for two years, or more. No biggie, but it's annoying and very unprofessional. Two bugs reported on this vs. Oneric! C'mon, people. Surely you can do better than that. This system is single-boot Ubuntu 12.04 LTS Gnome 3/Unity on an ext4 filesystem, installed about August 6, 2012 and kept up to date. What happened to the concept that 12.04 was to be a "stable" release? This is the most unstable *n*x OS release I have ever used since 1999 (SuSE 5 through 8, Ubuntu 8.04, 10.04, Mint 13 and 14). This nonsense makes Microsoft Windows almost seem desirable. I also use Linux Mint 14 on other "boxes", an HP Pavilion dv7 and a Dell Optiplex GX620. None of these issues affect Mint 14, although it is based on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Mint 14 has its own issues, but none affect usability like these do). Unity sucks stumpwater. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1257327] Re: 10de:06fd [Dell Precision T5500] Ubuntu 13.10 dual monitor screen lock causes windows to disappear off-screen
Well, what do you know - I enabled workspaces in a 2x2 configuration, then locked the screen, turned off both monitors, turned them back on, and the two windows I had in the right-hand monitor disappeared. When I clicked the launcher icon for them, they immediately showed up in the workspace in the upper-right hand corner of the grid. I just did it a second time, and it happened again - I think you must be right that it's the turning off of the monitors that's causing it now. It seems like I have a pretty reproducible test case, so maybe I could find time to try your package this week before I'm unavailable again for a while. Also in case it helps, I believe that just locking the screen back in 13.10 would set it off - I don't think I had to turn off the monitors. I'm thinking the reason that I haven't run into this consistently in 14.04 is that I haven't been leaving a lot of windows open when I go home and turn off the monitors; I think that I've just been closing most of them before leaving. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. I expected them to still be on the second screen - I can workaround this by using Alt+Spacebar to move the window back. This happens every time I lock the screen, and it happens if I use the Nouveau driver or if I use the proprietary driver. I expected the windows on the second screen to stay on the screen after unlocking the system. Instead, the windows disappeared off-screen - the Unity launcher still shows them being open, plus if I have multiple windows of an application open (i.e. the terminal), then double click the launcher icon, then it shows me all the windows and lets me choose one to bring forward, even the ones offscreen. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1313597] Re: Shortcut overlay cannot be closed by clicking the close button in 14.04
Please reconsider adding a higher priority to this bug. The shortcut overlay is the very first thing users will see on their new ubuntu desktop. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1257327] Re: 10de:06fd [Dell Precision T5500] Ubuntu 13.10 dual monitor screen lock causes windows to disappear off-screen
1. I'm using just a single workspace, I believe - I've never enabled workspaces, so I'm guessing it's disabled by default? I'll see if I can turn it on if it's off and set up additional workspaces. 2. None of them are maximized. I usually have Eclipse maximized in the left-hand monitor and some terminals and source-control UIs open in my right-hand monitor. 3. It is a dual monitor desktop system. Like I said, it doesn't reproduce much anymore, but if it happens again with the workspaces enabled, I'll report any findings to you. I don't have time to install your compiz package right now - I'm actually in the midst of some family transition time and probably won't be able to get back to you for the next month. If you think of any questions or things you want me to try, just let me know and when I'm back in the office I'll try to answer at the beginning of July. Thanks for helping! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. I lock the screen with a window open on the second monitor, then unlock it again. When the desktop shows again, the windows that were on the second screen are gone offscreen. There was no interaction from user. Possible solution: The snap decision should stay on screen for the amount of time the app asks it to, being always app dependant. A 60sec. time-out is too short due to use cases where an action from user is mandatory. Use case example: A class 1/2 SMS arrives after user triggered a USSD command from dialer. These type of SMS always requires a response from user (CANCEL or a further COMMAND). *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1314678 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1314678 The slider in System Settings itself has exactly the same problem, so removing the one from the indicator menu won't fix the underlying bug. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 1314678 "Display brightness" adjustable but does nothing when "Adjust automatically" is on -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to indicator-power in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1324068 Title: Brightness slider becomes ineffective with auto brightness turned on Status in The Power Indicator: New Status in “indicator-power” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: 1. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1001317] Re: Nautilus file operation progress window cannot be activated with the Launcher
Hi there. Is this bug fixed? I'm suffering the same inconvenience as this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Matching subscriptions: dx-packages https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1001317 Title: Nautilus file operation progress window cannot be activated with the Launcher Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: This is somewhat opposite to Bug #784804 (perhaps inflicted by its "fix"). If there's a file operation window showing eg. file copy progress, there's no way to activate it except Alt+Tab. It isn't present in the indicator area, and the Nautilus launcher button only activates the Nautilus window itself. If I close Nautilus window that spawned the file operation window, there's no button in the Launcher at all. No indicator for it either.
