English selected but writing Romanian letters - keyboard layout bug

Status in indicator-applet package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have no idea what package it is, so I selected this one.

I got annoyed that this old bug is still present: the language
selector does not work properly. I have selected Romanian layout and
after some time, the system notification area shows I have English.
But I can still write in Romanian.

So, it shows En but it works like Ro.

This in not a reliable way of using keyboard layouts and changing
keyboard languages. I tried to neglect it for some time, but it is too
  much for me.

See what letters I can write in English: ăîșțâĂÎȘȚÂ. I guess it is not
the way it should work. It happens quite every time I use a different
layout, but I do not know what triggers it after some time (minutes,
dozens of minutes) of correctly working.

  the system completely unusable.

  1. run Firefox 12.0 in the foreground
  2. hit Alt to bring up HUD
  3. type any text
  4. select one proposal from HUD
  5. wait for unity-panel-service and hud-service to fill up the remaining RAM

This is due to a high number of bookmarks in a user profile

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1188569] Re: Some keyboard shortcuts randomly stop working

2015-02-25 Thread Erik M
A workaround is to either open a terminal or Alt+F2 and issue the
command 'unity' . This fixes the shortcuts by restarting unity, but all
applications keep running, wihout login/out.

You may want to try to run this command on resume|thaw in /usr/lib/pm-
utils, since the keyboards (for me) seem to get lost on
docking/undocking and related resumes; but I'm still testing, so i don't
now if this is a robust (automatic) workaround.

Bug description:
  Hi,
Certain shortcuts randomly stops working in my computer. They are Super+s
(workspace switcher), Super+Up (switch to workspace above) and Super+Down
(switch to workspace below). Other shortcuts work fine.

A few notes that might help:
1- Reassigning shortcuts make them work again except for Super+s.
  2- Rebooting make shortcuts work.
3- I have been using these shortcuts with many previous ubuntu versions and
my preferences are old.
4- I am not sure of certain steps that produces the problem. The shortcuts
sometimes stop working but once they stop, they do not work unless I reassign
them or reboot.

  I am using Ubuntu 13.04.

  Thank you

Bug description:
  Hello,

This bug is maybe not due to Indicator-Sound but since this indicator has
been ported to a "service" (since we have to load
/usr/share/unity/indicators/com.canonical.indicator.sound), its menu looks
different when using it with Cairo-Dock or with indicator-loader.
As you can see on the screenshot (indicator-sound_loader-vs-cairo-dock.png),
players menu entries reserve more spaces with Cairo-Dock.

Note: ido_init() has been called once and these new indicators are loaded
with "desktop" profile.
  More info:
https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~cairo-dock-team/cairo-dock-plug-ins/plug-ins/view/head:/Indicator-applet3/indicator-applet3.c#L29
The code is not so big and not so different than indicator-loader:
https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~indicator-applet-developers/libindicator/trunk.13.10/view/head:/tools/indicator-loader.c
The dock just loads the applet and popup the menu (IndicatorObjectEntry->menu)

Any idea of what is wrong? :)

Bug description:
Unity can't show the global menu item for some gnome apps.

For example, the 'terminal' menu for gnome-terminal, or the
'calculator' menu for gnome-calculator cannot be opened. Other menus
  can be displayed (file, edit,...)

This is a recent regression I think.

  No application menu displayed

Status in indicator-appmenu package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After a recent Vivid update, Geary's application menu is no longer
displayed although the GtkSettings property (gtk-shell-shows-app-menu)
  is TRUE.

After installing, when set to display menus in the menu bar, the
"Geary" app menu text appears on mouse hover, but no drop-down menu is
displayed on click. When set to display menus in the title bar, the
"Geary" title is present but doesn't react to hover or a click.

However, if I log out and log back in, when menus are set to title
bar, hovering over the title does change the display (it even looks
like a little button) but clicking does nothing.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1389300] Re: Display frozen during sleep

  Display frozen during sleep

Status in systemd-shim package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
When the computer goes to sleep, it freezes to a black screen with a
single text cursor frozen (not blinking.). If I try to go to TTY1, it
goes there, but upon entering my user name, it freezes and doesn't do
anything. This happened since I got a mysterious Ubuntu 14.10 update.
(It didn't ask me if I wanted to update, it just popped up saying I
needed to reboot my computer, and I couldn't find any records as to
  what update it actually was).

I have tried both Xubuntu (what I'm using now) and regular Ubuntu,
both are doing the same thing.

Sleep mode used to work just fine since 13.10, now it's broken. This
is a laptop and needs sleep mode to work, as I can't sit there waiting
for the machine to boot every time.

I spoke too soon. Although it doesn't happen so quickly now, and the
