I got annoyed that this old bug is still present: the language selector does not work properly. I have selected Romanian layout and after some time, the system notification area shows I have English. But I can still write in Romanian. So, it shows En but it works like Ro. This in not a reliable way of using keyboard layouts and changing keyboard languages. I tried to neglect it for some time, but it is too much for me. See what letters I can write in English: ăîșțâĂÎȘȚÂ. I guess it is not the way it should work. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1188569] Re: Some keyboard shortcuts randomly stop working
A workaround is to either open a terminal or Alt+F2 and issue the command 'unity' . This fixes the shortcuts by restarting unity, but all applications keep running, wihout login/out. You may want to try to run this command on resume|thaw in /usr/lib/pm- utils, since the keyboards (for me) seem to get lost on docking/undocking and related resumes; but I'm still testing, so i don't now if this is a robust (automatic) workaround. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. If I try to go to TTY1, it goes there, but upon entering my user name, it freezes and doesn't do anything. This happened since I got a mysterious Ubuntu 14.10 update. (It didn't ask me if I wanted to update, it just popped up saying I needed to reboot my computer, and I couldn't find any records as to what update it actually was). I have tried both Xubuntu (what I'm using now) and regular Ubuntu, both are doing the same thing. Sleep mode used to work just fine since 13.10, now it's broken. [Dx-packages] [Bug 1240848] Re: ~/.cache/upstart takes up around 70GB of space due to unity and mediascanner
I just want to report that I am also experiencing the same problem. The offending file is ~/.cache/upstart/gnome-session-Unity.log It grows at a few megabytes every few seconds. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of DX Packages, which is subscribed to unity in Ubuntu. Upon further investigation, I found out that mediascanner.log and unity-panel-service.log take 12GB and 54GB of space respectively. I'm not entirely sure if this is related to upstart as I had removed logrotate package because of a conflict.
