Bug description:
In Ubuntu 14.10, the mouse cursor graphic gets corrupted under certain
occasions. It then looks flipped, sheared or shows fragments of a
  previous cursor.

  * when switching the cursor them forth and back in Gnome Tweak Tool
  * when drag&dropping a document icon

Maybe related, the cursor does not always show the correct image scale
on a high-dpi display (this was working right in 14.04). For example
after login, or when hovering specific areas, or on mouse down to
start a drag&drop, the cursor appears 1/4 the expected size.

Attached is a photo of a corrupted cursor (whereas a screenshot with
  Gimp showed the uncorrupted cursor).

In Ubuntu 14.10, the mouse cursor graphic gets corrupted under certain
occasions. It then looks flipped, sheared or shows fragments of a
  previous cursor.

  * when switching the cursor them forth and back in Gnome Tweak Tool

Maybe related, the cursor does not always show the correct image scale

after login, or when hovering specific areas, or on mouse down to

Status in indicator-datetime package in Ubuntu:

Status in usensord package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
I'm on rtm build 258 on krillin

  Steps to reproduce:
  - let battery run down on phone (was sitting unplugged for 1 or 2 days)
  - in the morning, a calendar alarm starting ringing/vibrating and would not
stop
  - when I looked at the phone, the screen was on and I see the Low Battery
dialog
  - after dismissing the dialog, then I see the notification for the alarm, and
only after 5-10 more seconds does the ringing stop

Seems like while the Low Battery dialog is displayed it keeps the
  alarm ringing forever

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1444223] Re: Bluetooth cannot connect to Audio Sink

If you are using Blueman for a bluetooth manager, there is a known bug

Bug description:
Bluetooth cannot connect to a device as an audio sink. Running the
  command:

  `pactl load-module module-bluetooth-discover`

Solves this, and allows you to connect to devices as an audio sink.

  This is in Ubuntu 14.04.

My suggestion is to run this or something when Bluetooth is enabled,
or on startup if the user elects to have Bluetooth start with the
  computer.

Currently the code in zenity_question() looks like:

  if (!g_spawn_check_exit_status (exit_status, &error))
    confirmed = TRUE;
  else
    confirmed = exit_status == 0;

However !g_spawn_check_exit_status() call is mostly equivalent to
"exit_status != 0". Thus, confirmed will be *always* set to TRUE, even
if the user cancelled the dialog.

I have prepared a branch to fix this.

  == Impact ==
The Cancel buttons in shutdown/end session dialogs are not working, and do
the same as "OK" buttons. This may lead to data loss due to unsaved
documents/etc.

  == Test Case ==
  * Log in to GNOME Flashback session.
  * Select "Shutdown" from indicator-session menu.
  * In the popped up dialog select "Cancel".

Expected result: the dialog will close, the machine won't shut down.

  == Development / Stable Fix ==
  Please see the attached branches.

  == Regression Potential ==
The fix is part of 14.10 release and was confirmed to work fine. So no

Bug description:
Currently Unity provides about two dozen keyboard shortcuts which are
  completely hardcoded.

It is essenetial from a productivity standpoint for the user to be
able to configure any of those. It was possible with Metacity /
Compiz through the Keyboard Shortcuts window. The same interface
could be used for Unity for updating its configuration and possibly
  featuring few Unity-specific keybindings.

  Desired resolution:

  - All the unity keyboard shortcuts (defined in the following document,
https://docs.google.com/a/canonical.com/document/d/1jqeKtIJwqLtl58Wk_fqjr9Rrgxn9zsouCYOo-cZsLSE/edit?hl=en_GB
) should be present and configurable using the 'Keyboard/Shortcuts' panel in
'System Settings'
  - Any keyboard shortcuts that are not supported by Unity should be removed.

Review the following keyboard shortcut bugs before fixing this bug:
  - F10 shortcut is used to show menu and this is wrong (bug #878492)
  - Ctrl Alt Del doesn't do what most people typing it would expect (bug
#890747)
  - Unity window placement shortcuts require a numpad (bug #751050)
  - Add keyboard shortcut hint overlay that is displayed when a user presses
and holds the Super key (bug #855532)
  - The grid keybindings are behaving inconsistently (bug #878820)
  - Make Unity keyboard shortcuts configurable (bug #775434)
  - Shortcuts need to updated as part of the 12.04 upgrade (bug #891757)
  - Unity should also use Super-L to lock screen by default (bug #830709)
  - Improvements to Launcher reveal when Super is pressed behaviour (bug
#905342)

Bug description:
I remember talking about this at UDS and how it was supposed to be
this way, and we all knew that, but I can't find a bug to track it so
  here it is.

You're supposed to be able to drag a lens from the dash and onto the
launcher, so that people can have their app or files lenses right on
their launchers like we did for 11.04.

  ---

  Desired solution:

  - A user should be able to add a Lens icon to the Launcher by dragging the
relevant icon from the Dash Nav to the Launcher (a user can position a Lens
icon in any position they choose on the Launcher).
  - All Lens icons should always remain in the Dash Nav; they are not removable
from this location.
  - Lens icons in the Launcher can be removed at any time by dragging and
dropping them into the Trash
  - See attached visual design "unity_desktop_24_06_11_02.png" for details of
how the Launcher lens icons should appear. Contact Rosie for the required
visual assets.
  - The Dash Nav should not change, icons that are dragged to the Launcher also
remain in the Dash Nav

In order for text entry fields such as used in the lock screen to be

seeing bug #722082 ("cannot change volume by scrolling on the icon
when the SoundMenu is opened") I'm filing it as a special case.

    1. Like to open the sound indicator menu, to see the volume control.
    2. Press the hardware volume up and down keys.
    3. The volume does not change.

Ideally the hardware sound keys should work when viewing the sound-
  related indicator menu.

See attached design "video_lens_v1-2_2.png" for details of exactly how

  Hi

  What Happened:
  1) Turn on launcher auto hide
  2) Display the HUD (tap Alt)
  3) Move the mouse to the left side of the screen (as if you are showing the
launcher)
  4) Note the launcher is not displayed
  5) Now hide the HUD (either tap Alt or select the X in the top left corner)
  6) Note that the launcher is now displayed, after the HUD closes.

  What I expected to happen:
  - I expected that the launcher is not displayed at step 6.

I expected for the launcher to not be displayed at step 6 because the
user could have the HUD displayed for a long period of time then
decide that they don't need the HUD. The launcher is then suddenly
revealed to them as they moved their cursor to the left side of the
screen a few minutes a ago. This could then confuse the user to why
the launcher has appeared when all they did was close the HUD.

Hope this can be fixed soon.

  Andy

   * Note that when entering keynav mode, the application loses focus.
THe triangle to the right of it's launcher icon is no longer drawn,
and the window title is not displayed in the panel.

  2) Select a launcher icon with the Up or Down keys.
  3) Show the quicklist by pressing Right.

   * Note that the application becomes active again - it's window title
is drawn to the panel, and the triangle to the right of the launcher
  icon is drawn again.

  4) Collapse the quicklist by pressing Left.

   * The app loses focus again.

This seems like inconsistent behavior to me... either the app should never
lose focus when we enter keynav mode, or should not be activated when we show a
quicklist.

Bug description:
Normally, tapping alt-tab switches between applications, and tapping
alt-` switches between windows of the front-most application. However,
if the two front-most windows are from the same application, then alt-
tab will switch between these windows instead, instead of moving to
the second-front-most application. Hence, in this case, alt-tab
  duplicates the action of alt-`.

  Here is an example:
  1) create the stack with two nautilus windows at the top, e.g. Nautilus
window 1 (N1), Nautilus window 2 (N2), and Firefox window (F1) (but you can use
any applications). Create the stack either by [clicking F1, N2, N1] or
[switching to Nautilus with alt-tab, then alt-` to the other Nautilus window].
  2) Tap alt-tab.

What happens: I switch to the other nautilus window.

What I expected: to switch to the other application (i.e. Firefox).

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1008182] Re: Provide a link to close notifications

2015-04-16 Thread Mirco Müller
The interaction-design (or rather non-interaction design) of desktop-
notifications wrt to NotifyOSD (used in conjuction with unity7 on the
current desktop) does explicitly not provide any means to allow/force
the user to act on them (e.g. close them).

The notification-bubbles do not get in your way (they are click-through
and "defocus" if you hover the mouse-pointer over them) to not break any
workflow and interrupt your current actions (e.d. clicking button,
reading text) with any UI-element, which might be below the
notification-bubbles.

That's why it's marked as "Won't Fix". For reference, please read
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/NotifyOSD#Rationale

The new notification-system (for unity8) revisits notifications and their
interaction-design. Currently unity8 is only used on devices such as phones and
tablets, but will make its way to the desktop too (keyword: convergence). As a
glimpse of how it's going to look, you can watch...

Bug description:
The Category Header of any category that is not expandible should not
be selectable using either mouse or keyboard navigation as
clicking/activating this item does nothing. For the same reason, the
header shouldn't react to pointer over events (e.g. if you can't
expand the Category Header it should not have a mouse over state)

This also includes the category headers of all flow views because they
  don't expand vertically.

  Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal with ppa:unity-team/staging

Issue:- Right click using mouse on dash icon in keynav mode fails to
exit keynav mode and does not activate the option chosen by the user.
Only if the user clicks anywhere on the screen, the chosen option gets
  activated.

For example:- In keynav mode, right click on dash and click on
"Applications". This will not exit keynav mode and will not open
applications lens. Only when the user click somewhere on the screen,
keynav mode exits and applications lens is opened.

  Action:
  - Press Alt+F1 to enter keynav mode
  - now right click on dash icon, click on any options in the quicklist

Bug description:
When dragging a file/folder/shortcut and going over the launcher (as in
trying to drop it there) the launcher shows, then hides and then doesn't fully
show after that.
After this, only about 80% of the launcher is shown every time it is
activated, with the left most 20% not showing (auto-hide enabled).
Also, when opening Lenses, there is a gap the size of the missing part of the
launcher, between the launcher and the lenses.
The only way to work around it is by restarting unity (or lightdm or the
computer) or by disabling and re-enabling the Unity Plugin in ccsm.
Happy to help troubleshooting this issue, please explain how I can help.

  Thank you.

Bug description:
I am not sure when this crash happened. However, when shutting down,
the shutdown/restart dialog took ages to appear and the actual
shutdown also took ages to start. I could not observe this behavior

Bug description:
When I hit the super key to bring up the dash and launch an
application, if I partially type an application; such as "ter" for
Terminal if I hit enter as Terminal is the first result there is a
slight delay before the application is launched -- about 1 second.
The delay is slightly less when I turn off searching from online
  sources.

Sometimes, when searching, during the delay before the application
launches right at the last moment I sometimes see search results pop
up right before the dash closes. These are usually local searches,
  sometimes online search if enabled.

In the 13.10 Dash, some of the scopes displayed in the Dash Home are
not displayed in the appropriate bottom bar Scopes (previously called
Lenses), and some of the Scopes from the bottom bar Scopes (previously
called Lenses) are not displayed in the Dash Home.

This needs to be fixed for the 14.04 release.

Music bottom bar scope (previously the Music Lens) should search the
following scopes:

  - Audacious (under 'songs' and 'albums; category headers)
  - Clementine (under 'songs' and 'albums; category headers)
  - gMusicBrowser (under 'songs' and 'albums; category headers)
  - Grooveshark (under 'songs' and 'albums; category headers)

The Dash Home 'Files' category header should also include results from

  - Google Docs scope (currently only returns results into the Files
bottom bar scope (previously called 'Files Lens')

The Dash Home 'Photos' category header should also include results from

  - Facebook (only related to user's Facebook account if setup with Online
Accounts)
  - Flickr (only related to user's Flickr account if setup with Online Accounts)
  - Picasa (only from user's Picasa account if setup with Online Accounts)
  - Twitter (only from user's Twitter account if setup with Online Accounts)

Photos bottom bar scope (previously the Music Lens) should also search the
following scopes:

  - Flickr (only related to user's Flickr account if setup with Online
Accounts)
  - Local photos (not using Shotwell)

The Dash Home should also include a 'Social' scope and category header that
include results from the Social bottom bar scope (previously the Social Lens).
This category header should display non-image results from:

  - Facebook (only related to user's Facebook account if setup with Online
Accounts)
  - Twitter (only from user's Twitter account if setup with Online Accounts)

Observe that the windows shrink vertically and repaint when entering spread

I expect the windows should scale and not repaint or resize when entering or
leaving spread.

  Test case.
Start a virtualbox VM (with guest additions enabled so desktop resizing is
automatic)
  Maximise the virtualbox window.
Open a terminal in virtualbox and run the following command:-

  watch xrandr

This will show the current resolution (which on my 1080p desktop is
1855x1034) - attached max.png
Enter spread on the host with Super+W
Observe the guest repainting the desktop
Wait a second or two for xrandr to display the new resolution (which on my
machine goes to 1855x1006 - a reduction of 28px) - attached spread.png
Exit spread and observe the screen size goes back to what it was before.

Bug description:
The logout dialog is, to my mind, rather strangely worded. It says
(see image attachment): "Goodbye, Colin Watson. Are you sure you want
to close all programs and log out from your account?"

Firstly, I find it odd to be addressed using my full name in this
fashion; nobody in real life would address me this way unless they
were trying to ask whether I was present in a crowd or something. We
could ask the user somehow for their preferred form of address, but
that's pretty tedious. Why not just drop the first sentence? It
reads oddly in any event because it is saying goodbye before
confirming that you actually want to leave.

Secondly, "log out from your account" sounds odd, and I would prefer
"log out of your account". The Google Ngram Viewer seems to agree
that this is a much more common usage:

Unity Lock Screen appearance does not respect RTL languages

Bug description:
When logging into Ubuntu using an RTL system language like Hebrew or
Arabic, the password box appears on the right hand side of the screen,
  which is correct.

  However if you go away from the computer and the computer gets locked;
or if you put the computer on standby and then resume it, the unlock
screen uses the standard LTR layout with the password box on the left
hand side instead of moving the password box to the right hand side to
  match the login screen.

nopasswdlogin group (and may not have a password).

  [TEST CASE]

  (1) Create a test user.
  (2) Add the test user to the nopasswdlogin group.
  (3) Log in to a Unity session using that acocunt.
  (4) Lock the screen.
  (5) Attempt to unlock the screen: no password prompt should be presented.

  [REGRESSION POTENTIAL]

Conceivably allowing a login with no authentication could present
unexpected vulnerabilities in which unforseen code paths also exercise
this function. Care has been taken by the developer to avoid such
  cases.

  [OTHER INFO]

The fix for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS was cherry picked from the Ubuntu "Vivid
Vervet" dev release where it has been in production use for some time
  without apparent regression.

14.04 LTS AMD64 Password/Keyboard Lockup after Unity Lock Timeout with
  VirtualBox VMs Running

Bug description:
I have replicated this bug on two different laptops, one at work
running mulitple monitors, one at home running a single monitor.

Symptom: When the Unity System Settings Lock Screen Settings activate,
and I notice the screen has gone blank and locked, I re-activate the
keyboard (usually left CRTL) and the 14.04 LTS Login Screen appears.

In all cases the keyboard is locked out and non-responsive, I can
click on the password box for my account and anything I type no longer
appears. I have to select "Switch Account" option with the mouse to
get a new login screen for my account and I can log in.

In some cases both the keyboard and the mouse input is locked out and
non-responsive. I can not select "Switch Account" and must power off
the laptop which of course is dangerous for the file systems of both
Windows VMs that are running and the host/14.04 LTS file system. I
have already corrupted the Windows VM file systems and had to repair
while testing this bug for repeatability.

Both laptops run the AMD64 version of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
Both have built in Intel Integrated Graphics, one laptop with the older
Ironlake, one with the newer ivy bridge.

Both are running Oracle VirtualBox but different version:

  1. Home is running the Ubuntu 14.04 Repository version of Oracle VirtualBox
(Currently 4.3.10_Ubuntu r93012)
  2. Work is running the Oracle downloadable AMD64 version of Oracle VirtualBox
Currently 4.3.12
  3. Both have the respective Oracle Virtual Box Extensions installed for
4.3.10 and 4.3.12
  3. Both are running Windows 7 64 VMs

Both 14.04 LTS have the following System Settings for Lock Screen:
Brightness slider - All the way left
Dim screen to save power - Checked
Lock - Switch to ON position
  Lock Screen after: 5 minutes
Require my password when weking form suspend - Checked

I have tested this with both a VM running (no other running applications were
tested) and with no apps running (fresh boot and login into 14.04 LTS unity
desktops).

  1. On fresh boot with no apps running the lock screen activates (after
5 min of no activity) and when I re-activate the laptops (usually
pressing left CTRL on keyboard) I get the login screen and can enter
my password successfully and the Unity desktop is presented.

  2. On fresh boot with a Windows 7 VM running the lock screen activates
(after 5 min of no activity) and when I re-activate the laptops
(usually pressing the left CTRL on the keyboard) I get the login
screen and the keyboard is locked and non-responsive and I can not log
  into my account.

Variations on 2. I can not enter password but I can use CTRL-ALT-F1, etc. to
switch to TTY and gain access to system.
Variations on 2. I can not enter password and can not use CTRL-ALT-F1, etc.
the entire keyboard appears locked out, but I can use mouse and select Switch
Account to force a new login screen to appear and the keyboard now works to
enter password.
Variations on 2. I can not enter password and can not use CTRL-ALT-F1, etc.
and I can not use the mouse, the entire input interfaces appear locked out and
I have to power off the laptops to restart and be able to log in to Unity again.

If I turn Lock: Off but leave Turn Screen off when inactive for 5
minutes set. If I have a VM running or no apps running, after 5
minutes the screen dims. I re-activate the system by pressing a key on
the keyboard (usually the left CTRL key) and the Unity desktop re-
  appears.

This bug only seems to occur when the Lock/Require Password when
  waking from suspend is active.

Bug description:
  [Impact]
Killing compiz repeatedly doesn't make unity to reload all the times.

This is caused by the fact that due to a regression unity7 is not
loaded anymore by upstart (but by gnome-session) and thus it seems
that sometimes it doesn't properly gets restarted.

This is also a security issue, because if the session was locked, and
unity is not reloaded the session won't be locked anymore.

  [Test Case]
From a terminal run killall -9 compiz multiple times, it should always
reload, but it fails after a couple of times.

  [Regression Potential]
The fix is about always making unity to be launched by upstart.
Regression potential is low, since upstart is now used by most ubuntu desktop
applications, and it ensures compiz will run properly anyway.

unity://running-apps position in launcher ignored during startup

Bug description:
  IN SHORT:

The position of unity://running-apps in the dconf setting
  /com/canonical/unity/launcher/favorites is being ignored during
  startup (login).

  DETAILED INFORMATION:

I will explain this using an example, which makes it easier to explain
  and understand.

Suppose that I have Nautilus and Firefox (+ workspaces and devices) pinned to
the Unity launcher, in that order.
When I open, for example, gedit, its icon appears below Firefox.
  "dconf read /com/canonical/unity/launcher/favorites" returns:
    ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'application://firefox.desktop',
'unity://running-apps', 'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices']

If I move Firefox's icon to below gedit (not pinned), any new applications
that I open that are not pinned appear above Firefox's icon, even after closing
gedit.
  "dconf read /com/canonical/unity/launcher/favorites" now returns:
    ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'unity://running-apps',
'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices', 'application://firefox.desktop']

'unity://running-apps' represents the applications that are not
pinned, and defines where those applications should appear in the
launcher. At least that's what it looks like.

The problem is that, after restarting the session or rebooting,
'unity://running-apps' is ignored, and apps that are not pinned appear below
the last "application://..." icon, even if it's the last one.
But "dconf read /com/canonical/unity/launcher/favorites" still returns:
    ['application://nautilus.desktop', 'unity://running-apps',
'unity://expo-icon', 'unity://devices', 'application://firefox.desktop']

The "favorites" are also maintained in gsettings:
"gsettings get com.canonical.Unity.Launcher favorites" returns the same
results above.

  IMPACT:

Because of this bug, users cannot pin applications to the "bottom" of
the launcher, as unpinned apps will always appear below the last
  pinned application.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1412001] Re: alt+backtick doesn't focus on selected one of many windows previously clicked

alt+backtick doesn't focus on selected one of many windows previously

Bug description:
This a user experience issue and easily reproducible.

Open multiple instances of your favorite application. Then click on
Unity's icon for the app when you are already focused on one instance
of it. This opens up a tile of the instances of the application which
you can select from with the mouse.

Now while that tile is shown, use ATL+backtick to select the window
you want instead of clicking with the mouse. The result is that the
  tile window doesn't go away.

If you use ALT+backtick and switch to ALT+tab (or start from ALT+tab
from the start) and select another kind of application, then the tile
goes away correctly and the other application comes in the front.

I can verify that the window you would select with ALT+backtick does
actually get to the top of the view and is marked as the "last visited
instance", because if you switch to another application (using
ALT+tab) and click back on the group of the original application you
would see the one you previously selected with ALT+backtick.

  ---

  Here are step-by-step instructions.

  - Open a couple of terminals
  - Open firefox
  - Click on the terminal icon
* This should open a tile showing the various terminal windows you have open
* If that doesn't happen, click again (you were not on a terminal window
before)
  - Use ALT+backtick to select one of the terminal windows

Expected behavior: The tile of terminals goes away and the selected
  terminal is focused

Observed behavior: The tile of terminals stays on the screen

An invalid line of code would occasionally cause Unity to crash.

  [Test Case]

  (1) Download and run the attached Python script test-1374942 to create a
candidate application.
  (2) Press the close button and wait for the Force Quit dialog to come up.
  (3) Choose the "Force Quit" button.

The desktop shell should not crash.

  [Regression Potential]

The fix for this bug involves converting an integer into a string and
appending it to an error message instead of adding the integer value
to the address of the error message. There is unlikely to be a
  regression from this.

  [Other Info]

The fix for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS was cherry picked from the Ubuntu "Vivid

The unity-panel-service process has been caching D-Bus messages sent
from upstart, effectively leaking memory. The solution replaces the
offending code with a single upstart event emission.

  [Test Case]

  0. Make sure there is a user session job with a dbus rule (eg

  1. Install and run system-load-indicator (indicator-multiload)

If you have a mounted drive with an underscore in it's name (e.g.
host_S), then, when you right-click on the drive icon in the sidebar,
the menu interprets the underscore as a keyboard-shortcut indicator,
so shows the name as hostS (with S underlined). Hovering over the
drive results in the correct "host_S" name; the bug is only in the
right-click menu. Note that right-clicking on the "Files" icon will
show a menu that includes the correct mounted disk names. It is only
right-clicking on the drive-icons themselves that shows the incorrect
  name.

  [Test Case]

  (1) Create a mountable device with an underscore in its volume name (eg.

When the power button is pressed, the shutdown dialog will be
displayed. Then clicks the 'Lock' button in the shutdown dialog and it
sometimes takes about 30~60s to lock screen. This happens on many

PS: If user moves the cursor out of the dialog window after clicking

Screen reader support for dynamic content in the Dash is enabled.

  [Test Case]

  (1) Enable Screen Reader (System Settings > Universal Access > Screen Reader)
  (2) Press Super + A to bring up the Applications lens of the Dash
  (3) Navigate displayed content
  (4) Choose an application for preview
  (5) Press Esc until the Dash is closed, repeat steps 2 to 4

You should hear the application description and preview description.

  [Regression Potential]

Some new code deals with processing pointers: the usual problem
potential of dealing with pointers in C code applies.

  [Other Info]

This patch for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS was cherry picked from the Ubuntu
"Vivid Vervet" dev release where it has been in public use for some
  time without apparent regression.

Certain code paths may cause the Unity lockscreen to crash, which can
allow the screen to be unlocked without a password entry.

  [Test Case]

Unfortunately this bug only appears under certain race conditions and
  is not reliably reproduce able.

  [Regression Potential]

The change in the code simply assumes that if a screen is already
locked, then it is lockable this avoiding certain operations that are
inherently racy. It is possible that this fix does not avoid all
possible crash conditions in the lockscreen and there may still be
  unaccounted-for crashes in the lockscreen.

This fix was cherry picked for Ubuntu 14.04 LTS from the Ubuntu "Vivid

If the screen is locked, launcher/panel edge barriers at the moment
  are active.

  [Test Case]

In a multi-monitor environment, lock the screen and move the mouse
between monitors. There should be no "sticky" edge between the

Every time the computer boots and autologins to my desktop, I see the
default background only behind the Unity Launcher for a couple of
seconds, and then it is replaced with the current wallpaper.

  [TEST CASE]

  (1) Configure the desktop to use a non-default wallpaper.
  (2) Log in to a Unity session and observe the area behind the Launcher.

  [REGRESSION POTENTIAL]

The solution to this problem was to eliminate the animation of the BFB
icon on initial startup. Potentially this could cause the animation
to not run at other times, although even if this did occur, it is
  unlikely to be noticed.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1367818] Re: [indicator] + [dialog] Silent Mode causes no indication of a change in [icon] state.

2015-04-16 Thread John McAleely
@pmcgowan I note that the UX task is still triaged. On the OTA3 image,
you get a little cross for 'silent mode' next to the indicator.

For the volume OSD, the visual language is different, where as you take
the volume down to zero, you get a cross. Which is confusing.

@patty davilla, is there still work to be done in this area, or is your
task in need of an update.
