Bug description:
Connect a bluetooth audio device (headset, speakers) to the ubuntu
  phone.

Play music/enter into a call, so that you have active audio to the
  device.

Adjust the volume, using the UI or keys on the ubuntu phone.

The volume of the bluetooth headset changes (good) but the ui contains
no clue that this is what the phone is doing (less good). The standard
volume indicator is shown. This can lead to user confusion if they are
not currently using the paired bluetooth accessory, and have forgotten
it is paired. On other devices the volume indicator changes to provide
visual feedback that the bluetooth device volume is being set.

  Desired resolution:

Please use this icon to replace the volume icon. The icon is bluetooth
volume which we had design already.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1103593] Re: Unity always shows all devices in launcher when CD is inserted

2015-10-01 Thread Alex Baggott
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. We have tried to
recreate this on the latest release of Ubuntu and cannot reproduce it.
This bug is being marked as Invalid. If you believe the problem to still
exist in the latest version of Ubuntu, please comment on why that is the
case and change the bug status to NEW.

When testing In 15.10 Beta 2, connected USB drives that have been
unlocked from the launcher do not reappear when a CD is inserted. I did
not test this with network shared filesystems.

Bug description:
In Ubuntu 12.10 the default behavior when inserting a CD (or a USB
memory stick, etc.) is to add a list of mounted devices to the
launcher. This takes up a lot of extra space for me as I usually have
several Samba mounts. Furthermore, I don't need or want to see my CD
  in the launcher.

I can click right on the mounted devices and select "Unlock from
launcher", but the next time I insert a CD they're back. Disabling
this "feature" should be an option in 12.10. I believe it was an
option in 12.04 via CCSM. Thanks.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1396553] Re: No rating and 0 reviews shown for all applications in the dash

2015-10-01 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks Kiwinote, I just debugged a bit that before seeing your comment,
we basically have the same conclusions.

The software-center issue is bug #1313884, I submitted a fix for it, the
issue is that the flag is to be use with set_flags(), not open(). One
thing I'm unsure about is if fixing that issue is going to be a
performance hit, since the commit resolved slowness issues but likely
because it disabled the db recording more than because of the flag use
that didn't work...

I'm also submitted a change for the db versionning issue there

Bug description:
Previously the Home lens searched a "local" context on one's personal
computer. The shopping lens, and other lenses leverage online
searches to provide additional potentially relevant results, but in
cases where they integrate with the home lens they violate the
expectation of privacy established by the previous local search
context. They also violate the expectation of privacy that one
  associated with a "home".

This could be resolved by introducing the concept of a "world" lens in
addition to a home lens, and a switch to select which is the default
search performed in the Dash. The "world lens" would provide online
results, whereas the home lens would always perform local searches.

A UI mockup of this feature is provided in "How to Fix" > "Step 2" of

If user choose Asturian language, and Asturian keyboard, it's
  impossible to type á,é,í,ó,ú, ü, ñ.

  Steps to reproduce it:
  1- Change language to Asturian
  2- Change keyboard (Launcher-->System settings-->Text entry-->Asturian

  3- Add it.
4- In the top panel, clic and select the text entry: Asturian
5- Open a .txt file, and try to type á,é,í, ó,ú, ü,ñ (it will doesn't work)

case and change the bug status to NEW.

I tried this on Ubuntu 15.10 Beta 2. Compiz didn't use more than 85 MiB
under the conditions you describe.

Opening the dash causes memory usage to climb dramatically, and never

Bug description:
This may not be a bug at all, but thought I'd report it anyway.

I am NOT reporting a memory leak - at least, I don't think so. I am
  simply reporting this:

When I start a desktop session, Compiz uses 85M of memory. It stays
there as long as I *do not open the Dash*.

Once I open the Dash - simply pushing the Ubuntu button, and then
closing immediately - the memory usage climbs to ~120-150.

If I go through every page in the Dash and open every sub-page and see
every icon available, the memory usage clibms to ~185M.

Re-visiting the Dash, no matter how often, doesn't cause a further
increase, but I'm not certain the Dash should use ~100M of RAM all by
itself. I'm not sure how much it *should* use, but it just seems a
  bit excessive.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1301589] Re: indicator-session-service crashed with SIGSEGV in strlen()

2015-10-01 Thread Matt
I have the same issue, but may have found the source & potential
workaround.

When I use a monolithic site-wide passwd file, indicator-session
crashes. When I strip it down to just a local account, everything is
fine. After I stop showing the users for quick user switching, it stops
crashing!

Possible workaround: Run the command below as the affected user.
dconf write /apps/indicator-session/user-show-menu false

I've actually applied this as a manditory setting on a system-wide
level. Apply the attached tarball, then run 'sudo dconf update'

Bug description:
I asked in #ubuntu-desktop and people couldn't reproduce this in vivid

Open the indicator, click one of the greyed dates at the start or end
of the month (sometimes requires more than one go). The active date
starts to repeatedly jump between this date and another one. I ran
with G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all and when it's happening this is spammed (I
  clicked a date in 2015-05).

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1241101]

2015-10-01 Thread Martin Oberhuber
Many thanks for the analysis so far, the explanation with "empty radio
label" makes a lot of sense! - Does anyone know if a ticket already
exists with Ubuntu for getting this fixed ?

We also do see the crash occasionally with Mars on Ubuntu 14.04 64-bit.
The suggested workarounds SWT_GTK3=0 UBUNTU_MENUPROXY=0 have been applied.
A fix in either Mars.2 or an Ubuntu 14.04 update would be highly appreciated !

[Dx-packages] [Bug 845023] Re: Unity Panel showing newlines

2015-10-01 Thread NickTh 
Hello,
as part of the bug clean up ahead of 16.04 LTS I'm marking this as invalid
because it affects an Ubuntu release which is now unsupported. If you can still
recreate this bug in a supported release please do open a new bug and we can
triage it for consideration in the 16.04 LTS development cycle.

Regards
NickTh

When programs have titles with newlines, the Unity Top Panel displays
  them.

As an example, when running this Python program
  (http://paste.ubuntu.com/685465/ which requires package python-
  wxgtk2.8).

  1. Run the file in the pastebin with python
  3. The Unity Panel displays a newline after "Unity"

When the frame is minimized, instead of the line, it displays "...".

  Attached is a screenshot.

Personally, I'm not sure of what should happen, but I decided to
  report the bug anyways.

  EDIT
On the Launcher, if I hover the icon of this program I also get a newline,
but this is good.

Same here, bug still occurs. The longer you leave your machine on, the
better chance you hit the bug.

Bug description:
  [ Impact ]

With nVidia hardware from time to time window content is rendered
black or transparent. The problem manifests more frequently as
  session uptime increases.

Apparently the problem was caused by textures being cached and not
freed, resulting in memory exhaustion conditions. It turns out the
  texture caching is unnecessary anyway.

  [ Test Case ]

Verification requires an nVidia GPU with proprietary drivers. The
problem can not be reproduced at will, only after some time (depending
on resident GPU memory and usage) and even then only randomly and
  unreliably.

  [ Regression Potential ]

It is unlikely this change has the potential to introduce new
  regressions.

  [ Other Info ]

Fix was cherry-picked from the Ubuntu "Vivid Vervet" dev relase where
it has been in use for some weeks without problem.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1484589] Re: Spurious volume notification when changing output role with headphones

2015-10-01 Thread Xavi Garcia
I've fixed some changes to notify the user when the active output
changes [bug 1382548]

What happens for the Marron game is what describes bug 1485522.
We have the notification because everytime we play a sound the audio role
changes from the ringtone to multimedia.

  1. Install the "Maroon in Trouble" game.

  What happens:
  2. There's a volume notification each time a sound plays.
  3. There are no more volume notifications.

  What should happen:
  2. There are no volume notifications, because neither the sound output nor
the volume is changing.

  : "When the primary sound
output changes for any reason except an app request, or when the sound
volume changes for any reason, a confirmation bubble should appear ...
There should be no special notification when the active output role
  changes."

This could be a side-effect of bug 1418210, but probably not, since it
is idempotent: the notifications keep happening even if you don't
change the volume in the meantime.
