[Dx-packages] [Bug 1883423] Re: no menu bar in LibreOffice

2020-10-01 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
Did you install `bamfdaemon`? You most likely have empty appmenu applet!
Show output of `dconf dump /org/gnome/gnome-panel/layout/`.

  Fix Released

Bug description:
  In Ubuntu 20.04 with GNOME Flashback session, the top menu bar (File,
  View etc.) is not present in LibreOffice applications (in regular
  GNOME Shell, the menu is present OK). There seems to be no way to make
  the menu appear, except of uninstalling libreoffice-gtk3 package, but
  then all styling from the GNOME theme is lost and LibreOffice has the
  "raw" X toolkit look.

2020-07-21 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
I think real bug is in indicator-application. Definitely not in
indicator-applet as it only loads various indicators. I guess it could
be fixed also in hplip... For some reason menu is set after some delay -

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1878440] Re: gnome-panel - hplip - icon-menu empty

2020-07-20 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
>From quick look this might be problem in indicator-application...

Looks like hplip trayicon first is created without menu, "/NO_DBUSMENU"
is set as "Menu" for status notifier item. Then it is updated to correct
menu path, but indicator does not recreate menu.

D-Bus menu is created only when application is added:
https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-application/tree/src/indicator-application.c#n555

As workaround use `systemctl --user restart indicator-
application.service` to restart indicator application. Then it will
pickup / use correct menu path.

Use Screenshot application to create screenshot. Choose "Grab the whole
screen", set few seconds as delay, press "Take Screenshot". Open menu
and and after delay screenshot will be created.

  I have the crash files if you need them , Or you could tell me what exactly
you need from me or how to send you the dump crashes and whether they contain
private information or not , please tell me
  I set this as Security risk because once it crashes , you are free to go with
the PC , and I don't know if someone manages to crash it will be able to bypass
the login screen.

  Screensaver crashes and it allows you to have control over the PC with
  no need for password or anything else.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1770146] Re: [MIR] libayatana-appindicator

2018-09-09 Thread Alberts Muktupāvels
Are they 100% compatible? Can you switch between both without loosing
any functionality? Will end user notice switch?

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/network-manager-applet/blob/master/configure.ac#L167
network-manager-applet now support both and I doubt that someone tests all
indicators - systray, appindicator and ayatana-appindicator...

>From https://sunweavers.net/blog/node/67:
In Ayatana Indicators (speaking with my upstream hat on now), we are currently
working on a re-implementation of the rendering part of the indicators (using
GTK's popovers rather then menushells), so that it works on vanilla GTK-3. Help
from GTK-3 developers is highly welcome, in case you feel like chiming in.

So sounds like visually they are not same or will not be? How that
affects Unity 7 or other desktops?

Bug description:
  Currently the code in zenity_question() looks like:

  if (!g_spawn_check_exit_status (exit_status, &error))
    confirmed = TRUE;
  else
    confirmed = exit_status == 0;

  However !g_spawn_check_exit_status() call is mostly equivalent to
  "exit_status != 0". Thus, confirmed will be *always* set to TRUE, even
  if the user cancelled the dialog.

  I have prepared a branch to fix this.

  == Impact ==
  The Cancel buttons in shutdown/end session dialogs are not working, and do
the same as "OK" buttons. This may lead to data loss due to unsaved
documents/etc.

  == Test Case ==
  * Log in to GNOME Flashback session.
  * Select "Shutdown" from indicator-session menu.
  * In the popped up dialog select "Cancel".

  Expected result: the dialog will close, the machine won't shut down.

  == Development / Stable Fix ==
  Please see the attached branches.

  == Regression Potential ==
  The fix is part of 14.10 release and was confirmed to work fine. So no
regression potential.

Title:
  Adding indicator-applet appmenu does not export/move all menu items to
  panel (Utopic)

Status in “indicator-appmenu” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Current Scenario

  1. install indicator-applet-appmenu
  2. add it to panel.

  3. In the panel, For some gtk apps (gnome-terminal) It is showing only
  a single menu; File->close. All other menu items remains in the app.
  For some other gtk apps (i.e. Nautilus, eog) it doesn't show any menu
  at all.

  4. Surprisingly for Firefox it does properly move all the menus to
  panel.

  Expected Scenario:

  Adding indicator-applet-appmenu or global menu should move all the
  menu items from local app to panel.

Bug description:
  I'm using 2 screens, first is laptop (1280x800), second is external
  monitor (1440x900). Laptop screen is left and primary.

  Steps to repro:
  1. Open terminal and move it to screen 2
  2. Run "gedit"
  3. Gedit window should appear on screen 2.
  4. Maximise gdit window.
  5. Close gedit window.
  6. In Terminal, run "gedit" again

  Expected result:
  Gedit opens maximised on screen 2

  Actual result:
  Gedit opens maximised on screen 1. You can see a flash of gedit on screen 2
before it appears on screen 1.

  If you unmimimise the gedit window on screen 1, it jumps back to
  screen 2.

  Note:
  Metacity is patched to make almost-fullscreen application windows change to
fullscreen. This is possible culprit

  [Test Case]
  1. install gnome-session-flashback.
  2. login in session.
  3. add indicator-applet-appmenu to gnome-panel. at this point menu-bar will
dissapear.
  4. remove indicator-applet-appmenu from panel to get menu-bar back.

  [Regression Potential]
  I think there is no regression potential. Same fix is used for external
applets built with libpanel-applet library.
