HI Mateusz, I haven't seen this problem on Vivid or Trusty for a really
long time. We can probably mark this as fixed?

On all three of my machines, org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop is the one with
NoDisplay=true and nautilus.desktop is the one without that line.

I have not made any changes to those files.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1436297] Re: Nautilus launcher icon matching issue (seems due to desktop rename)

2015-03-31 Thread Benjamin Xiao
No I don't have any nautilus related files in
~/.local/share/applications/

I think Colin pointed out (in the duplicate bug) that the problem really
stems from the fact that in /usr/share/applications, there's
nautilus.desktop and then there's org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop, which is
marked with NoDisplay=true.

Seems like the one in the Application menus is nautilus.desktop, but the
one that gets launched is org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop, so the windows
aren't properly matched to the icon.

org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop also doesn't have any of the right-click menu
bookmarks.

Is it possible to get rid of nautilus.desktop, mark
org.gnome.Nautilus.desktop to appear in the menus, and then associate
the bookmarks to it?

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1436297] Re: Nautilus launcher icon matching issue (seems due to desktop rename)

2015-03-31 Thread Benjamin Xiao
Resetting my launcher favorites using the gsettings command brings back
a file icon that doesn't duplicate, BUT it doesn't have any bookmarks in
the right click menu.

So it seems like the Files icon in the Applications section is different
from the one that's being written into com.canonical.Unity.Launcher
favorites by default. And the one that's being written by default does
not have any Bookmarks.

So new steps to reproduce should be:
1.) Unlock nautilus icon
2.) Drag Files icon from Applications into Favorites
3.) Click on Files icon.
4.) See another file icon appear.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1252121] Re: missing PrepareForSleep signal after resuming, causing networking to stay disabled

2014-09-03 Thread Benjamin Xiao
Also experiencing this on Ubuntu 14.04. It's much easier to reproduce
the longer you leave the computer in hibernation. I usually can't
reproduce if I hibernate for a few minutes and then resume, but if I
hibernate overnight and resume the next morning, this bug almost always
occurs. Doing a sudo service network-manager restart works around it,
but is annoying.

  SRU INFORMATION:
  FIX: https://github.com/desrt/systemd-shim/commit/9e1ebe3ab (in trusty
already)

  Regression potential: Low. Flushing the session bus was introduced in
  version 4 and is obviously bogus as in a system D-BUS service there is
  no session bus. This causes lots of confusing error messages and
  unnecessary overhead like trying to start dbus-launch. Flushing the
  system bus is low-risk, in most cases it's a no-op and it would
  otherwise prevent losing signals after waking up. No known
  regressions.

  TEST CASE: Run several suspend/resume cycles with the lid, session
  indicator menu, and verify that the network comes back up. It is known
  that this fix is necessary but not sufficient, so it is not expected
  to fix all cases. But it should not make things worse, so if network
  now does not come up any more on a machine where it previously worked
  this would count as failure/regression.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1363387] [NEW] Hidden Unity toolbar still receives mouse clicks when fullscreen applications are unfocused in multihead environments

2014-08-30 Thread Benjamin Xiao
Public bug reported:

This is a follow up to bug #748539 which fixed the issue where the Unity
toolbar was still displaying on top of fullscreen applications if they
were unfocused. It is correctly hidden, but it seems like the toolbar
still receives mouse clicks. When I click in the region where the Unity
toolbar should be if it wasn't hidden, instead of clicking in the
fullscreen app, it registers as a mouse click on the toolbar.

For example:

1.) Open up Chrome and load any stream on Twitch.tv. Put Chrome on the first
monitor and fullscreen it.
2.) Focus on any application on the second monitor.
3.) Without changing focus, move mouse cursor back into first monitor and try
to click the Play/Pause button in Twitch. Instead of playing or pausing, it
launches the Trash.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1312882] Re: Main menu of Qt apps locally integrated in the window title bar disappears after activation of any menu item

2014-07-23 Thread Benjamin Xiao
Also happens with Mumble. When is this bug going to be fixed? This makes
LIM unusable for all Qt apps.

Title:
  Main menu of Qt apps locally integrated in the window title bar
  disappears after activation of any menu item

Status in “unity” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  [The bug]
  When the integration of the app menus into the window title bars is turned
on, call of any dialogue from the menu leads to disappearance of the menu.
After that, the window title bar displays only the application title string.
The main menu cannot be seen and cannot be accessed until you switch to another
application and then return. The bug is observed only for unmaximized windows.
The main menu of maximized windows works fine.
  This bug is observed only for Qt applications. I have “succeeded” to
reproduce it for VLC, Gwenview, digiKam, Krita, Calliga, VirtualBox,
GoldenDict, Mixx.

  [How to reproduce]
  1. Make sure that “Show the menus for a window” parameter (System Settings ->
Appearance -> Behavior) is set to “In the window's title bar”.
  2. Start any Qt application, say, one of mentioned above. Let it be, for
example, Gwenview.
  3. Unmaximize the app window.
  4. Activate any dialogue from the main menu. For instance, File -> Open... or
Settings -> Configure Gwenview...
  5. Press Cancel to close the dialogue.
  6. Hover the mouse pointer over the window title bar.

  [What is expected]
  The app menu should appear and be accessible.

  [What happens]
  The app menu is not shown. Only the application title is displayed in the
title bar.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1342492] [NEW] Pressing Alt-F2 inside a Remmina session causes the local indicator-session to crash

2014-07-15 Thread Benjamin Xiao
Public bug reported:

I was using Remmina to VNC into another Ubuntu machine in my local
network. I pressed Alt-F2 inside the VNC session to run a command. Both
the local session and the VNC session showed the Alt-F2 run box, but
then the local session crashed and automatically submitted this bug

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1317741] [NEW] Hibernate option disappears when switching to another user

2014-05-08 Thread Benjamin Xiao
Public bug reported:

The Hibernate option disappears when switching to another user. The
first user who logs onto the system will get the Hibernate menu entry in
their Power menu. Any other user who logs on afterwards by switching
users does not see the Hibernate option in their Power menu.

I have obviously already enabled Hibernation by editing the relevant
polkit file as per https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-
docs/+bug/1232814/comments/13

Not sure if this is a regression from 13.10 as I do not have any 13.10
machines left to confirm.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1232814] Re: Hibernate option is missing from menu in 13.10 even after trying to re-enable

2013-10-22 Thread Benjamin Xiao
After applying the logind fix to
/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla
and doing a killall indicator-session-service, it still doesn't work.
Hibernate does not appear and in fact the restart option goes away as
well.

gdbus call --system --dest org.freedesktop.login1 --object-path
/org/freedesktop/login1 --method
org.freedesktop.login1.Manager.CanHibernate

returns

('challenge',)

Title:
  Hibernate option is missing from menu in 13.10 even after trying to
  re-enable

Status in Ubuntu Documentation:

Status in “indicator-session” package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  I upgraded from raring to saucy on my notebook, where hibernate was
  enabled and working fine. Now the hibernate option is missing. I
  followed the instructions on how to reenable hibernate
  (https://help.ubuntu.com/13.10/ubuntu-help/power-hibernate.html) but
  the option is still missing. Hibernating from terminal via s2disk
  works.

  File exists with proper content and permissions:
  $ sudo ls -l
/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla
  -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 111 Sep 29 18:52
/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla

  $ sudo cat
/etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-hibernate.pkla
  [Re-enable hibernate by default]
  Identity=unix-user:*
  Action=org.freedesktop.upower.hibernate
  ResultActive=yes

  -

  Solution found by Jeffery To (jefferyto) in comment #13 to enable
  hibernate menuentry:

  File /etc/polkit-1/localauthority/50-local.d/com.ubuntu.enable-
  hibernate.pkla needs to contain:

  [Re-enable hibernate by default in upower]
  Identity=unix-user:*
  Action=org.freedesktop.upower.hibernate
  ResultActive=yes

  [Re-enable hibernate by default in logind]
  Identity=unix-user:*
  Action=org.freedesktop.login1.hibernate
  ResultActive=yes

  Then reboot and run 'killall indicator-session-service' in terminal
  from your session. For background see #13.

  However this is not persistent across reboots.
