Guys I do not understand why I do not have the problem anymore on my ubuntu 14.04. The file icon behaves how it should be (opening all minimized windows and middle click to open a new window). I would like to understand what I have changed (maybe in compiz) that makes everything fine. I'm planning to update my distro soon but before doing it I would like to investigate what is different from you. I had the problem in Ubuntu 13.04 but not anymore in Ubuntu 14.04. I believe it could related to the way how you mount it.
