branch ?

You're welcome. I didn't plan this, but now it has happened :)

Title:
[upstream] Recent menu botches file names

Status in LibreOffice Productivity Suite:
  Fix Released
Status in “libreoffice” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed
Status in “unity-gtk-module” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit
  Libreoffice
(not sure about what package to check for version, so I just checked core:
  -> dpkg -s libreoffice-core | grep -i version
  Version: 1:3.5.3-0ubuntu1
)

I have file names that have underscore characters. On the recent
menu, these are all removed, probably as the string gets sanitized for
other special characters. However, there's no real reason to remove
underscores, that I know of anyway.

  Expected:
All file names to be displayed as they exist on the system

  Actual:
Underscores are removed...haven't checked other characters

[Dx-packages] [Bug 367947] Re: Notifications appear in non-visible area of multi-head desktop

2013-12-11 Thread Samuel Mehrbrodt
You might try

  gsettings set com.canonical.notify-osd multihead-mode "focus-follow"

After that the Notification will always appear on the screen which has the
mouse on it.
I wonder why this is not the default.

Title:
Notifications appear in non-visible area of multi-head desktop

Status in Notify OSD:
  New
Status in “notify-osd” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: notify-osd

I use xrandr to configure a multi-head display -- a main LCD screen and a
TV-out.
In order to keep within my video card's 2048x2048 virtual display size for 3D
acceleration, I stack my screens vertically in the virtual display, with the
smaller screen on top.

Also, I have a single gnome panel at the bottom of my LCD screen.

Without the top gnome panel (if I understand correctly), notify-osd
defaults to placing the notifications at the top right of the display.
However, for me, this is either a non-visible area, or a TV screen
that is across the room from me (and most likely not even turned on).

Re-arranging the screens side-by-side 'fixes' things, but at the cost
of 3d acceleration (the virtual display is now greater than my card's
  2048x2048 limit).

If there is no top panel, any arrangement of screens with differing
resolutions that leaves a 'dead area' at the top right will trigger
  this issue.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 853865] Re: Multi Monitor: Option to hide unity's top panel on the second monitor

2013-10-22 Thread Samuel Mehrbrodt
It has indeed been fixed that the panel is no longer on top of a presentation.
But I think this bug is about adding an option to permanently hide the panel on
a monitor.

That would be useful in our use case, where the audience always sees the
second monitor whether there is a presentation running or not. We used
to have a black background and no panels, so it's "invisible". But
that's not possible with Unity at the moment.

Bug description:
Some presentations are given full screen on the second monitor while
someone is still working on another screen. Many people use lyricue
for example. But the panel is very distractive being always on top,
thus making unity unacceptable for presentations.
