[Dx-packages] [Bug 1672369] [NEW] Mnemonic not visible when opening menu

2017-03-13 Thread vanadium
Public bug reported:

When accessing a menu with the keyboard, mnemonics for the drop down
menu are not immediately visible. Thus, one cannot quickly spot the
mnemonic needed to open a menu item.

Steps to see the issue:

* Open gedit
* Press Alt+f to open the file pull down menu: menmonics cannot be seen. Only
pressing the down arrow to highlight the first menu item will reveal the
mnemonics

Desired behaviour

On opening a pull down menu with the keyboard, mnemonics are visible, so
the user immediately can proceed typing the correct mnemonic (if he does
not yet know it by heart).

Another issue (for another bug report): after opening a pull down menu
with alt+letter, one has to first release the alt key for the
accelerator letter to work.

** Affects: indicator-appmenu (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1295908] Re: Sometimes applications stop showing up in the Dash

2014-09-13 Thread vanadium
Switchin on "Filter results" reveals that searches for user files may
disable the Category "Applications". The following time the dash is
summoned, it will not find applications when typing in a new search
term. Pressing "Escape" before entering the new search term will enable
the Application scope, and again cause the Dash to find applications.

This is a bug, because the scope of the home lens should not change by
itself. Again, this bug is NOT a duplicate of bug #1308037.

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 1308037
   No results from application scope

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1295908] Re: Sometimes applications stop showing up in the Dash

2014-07-17 Thread vanadium
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1308037 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1308037

I don't agree that this bug report is a duplicate of bug #1308037. The
other bug reports no applications appearing in the applications scope.
This bug report reports applications not anymore appearing in the home
lens. The Applications lens still keeps working, though (but not, as I
understand, in bug #1308037).

As a matter of fact, it is due to "Applications" being disabled in
"Filter results" in the home dash at some time during the session,
without apparent reason. Checking "Applications" back on again makes
applications reappear in the home lens.

It is not possible to say what triggers this, and thus impossible to
provide steps to "reproduce" this issue.

[Dx-packages] [Bug 805087] Re: Dash and launcher appear underneath windows

"setsid unity" relads Unity and temporarily fixes the issue, but the
problem comes back during the session.

  more details and symptoms:
    docky behaves like unity-launcher/dash.
press "super" button and type "terminal+enter" (nothing displayed) ... a
terminal-window starts/pop-up

  conclusion:
    the "input-stack/focus" is o.k.

  more symptoms:
After docky-stop and docky-start (restart) the docky-bar shows as

This is reproducable with firefox windows by moving/maximise/move to

Sometimes other windows (like terminal-window/google-chrome-window) are

[Dx-packages] [Bug 1239710] Re: indicator-datetime or -session missing ~10% of the time

2013-12-23 Thread vanadium
Today, I again have the issue. It occurs 1% or less of the time for me.
I have launcher placement set to "all displays". However, I do not
experience the bug to the extend described in the new bug, 1253693,
where apparently no indicaters appear at all. It is just the date-time
indicator that is missing, and it only happens very occasionally. My
specs and the packages have not changed since I reported on 2013-11-20
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/indicator-
datetime/+bug/1239710/comments/36). I am not sure this bug should be
considered completely "fixed".

Impact: sometime indicator-session or datetime go missing in unity

Test Case: start sessions until that happens (or not)

Regression potential: the change is a one liner workaround for a glib
lock, shouldn't create issue, just check that those indicators keep
  working as they should

Like hufemj (hufemj-yahoo) (#32) I also still experience the issue
occasionally on a fully updated Ubuntu 13.10 install.
