[Dx4win] What happened

2014-10-20 Thread Tom Horton
All of a sudden when I click on a spot for 40 or 80 meters, it sends the radio
to the wrong sideband.
What am I doing wrong? It worked just fine for ages.
 Radio or DX4WIN problem?
Thanks, Tom K5IID

Re: [Dx4win] Using IC7600 USB port

2014-10-20 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Here is the missing message text:

"I have been running my IC-7600 via a USB to COM port adapter. I
would like to run the rig directly via its rear USB port. Is there
some way to do this? In the program's "radio" instructions it only
shows COM ports. I installed a USB driver for the ICOM but DX4WIN
doesn't see a radio so there must be more to it, if its even possible.
Any help?"

Today I received a follow-up:

"I loaded a driver I got from the IC 7600 users group. Looking at my
computer device manager it says that driver is on com 3. So I set com
3 and 9600 baud under preferences, radio, and saved it. But doesn't
work so I am missing something."

Please respond to both Mike and the reflector.

[Dx4win] DX Spotting Window

2014-10-20 Thread Bud Governale

Thanks to all who replied.

The INS key on the NumLock pad did not work.
However, the INSERT key in a separate key group on the keyboard did work.

Paul F6EXV and Ian G4IIY both said to sort by priority.
That was the main help.
It eliminated having to scroll thru the DX Spotting window.
It put what I was looking for at the bottom of the window.

Re: [Dx4win] DX Spotting Window

2014-10-20 Thread David Kozinn, K2DBK

Bud,

When you say pressing INS doesn't do anything, does it not stop the
display or does it not even display "(HOLDING)" at the top of the DX
stop window?

While sorting by priority (as others have suggested), I use "hold"
myself all the time and know it can be frustrating. Couple of things
come to mind: First, if you've got more than one Insert key on your
keyboard, try the other one (if you haven't done so already). Try
pressing the NumLock key and see if Insert works. Actually, you could
probably see if it's the Insert key itself by going into anything where
you can edit text on your computer and see if the Ins key is functioning
properly at all.

You could try to unplug/replug the keyboard, or, when all else fails,
try rebooting your computer (if you haven't done those thing yet either.)

How to freeze the DX Spotting window?

Pressing INS does not appear to do anything.

During a contest with many spots rolling in it’s nearly impossible to back
track to select a red or blue colored spot.
