I followed your instructions (switching desktops, switching to Contacts,
swithing to other folders) but delete kept working. RH 6.2, GNOME 1.4,
most recent available snapshot: evolution-0.10-100_helix_200104260800

Can you try the sequence I outlined in http://bugzilla.ximian.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2682
and let me know if you can reproduce it? I'm just using
Evolution updated from anoncvs, so it can't be that different
from the packages.

It cannot be sawfish alone, it must be an interaction with the Evo
version you are using or with other packages, because I use Evo from
snapshots with the GNOME 1.4 Sawfish version without that problem. In
fact, Evo has been pretty stable, but then my usage is fairly
restricted: collect mail from local spool, send mail via sendmail, no
calendar, relatively little address book (especially since the last
snapshot came linked with the wrong version of db...)

Do you get any error messages from the calendar?

Can you please make sure no Evolution-related processes are running,
then run evolution-calendar by hand on one terminal, and run evolution
from another one? That way you may be able to see if the calendar
prints out anything interesting.

You may also want to run the wombat in a separate terminal to see if
it spews anything.

Well, we all got pretty caught by the hit-return-it-crashes thing, but
ORBit patched, did fix it for me.

You've tried like make clean and whatnot? Out of date idl compilation ?
I dont know, i'm grasping at straws here.

The focus issues seem very sawfishy (or something), I dont use sawfish
and dont really have these sorts of problems.

Re: Re: [Evolution] evo crashing

2001-05-08 Thread Not Zed

You need to add the stable branch name to the cvs checkout, i.e.

 -r orbit-stable-0-5

If you already have a copy checked out, you can just do

 cvs -z3 update -dP -r orbit-stable-0-5

from within the directory, and it'll just patch your copy to that
version.

Events do not appear in any of the calendar views. I've also tried
deleting my evolution directory and restarting evolution, but no
calendar.ics file gets created and I can't create any new events.

I haven't heard of that problem before.

Does the event not appear in any of the calendar views (day/week/month)?

it's the Nautilus list?) a few times that oaf in CVS has

Be aware that killing oafd may - I think - cause a bit of aggravation if
you're running Natilus at the time you issue the "killall oafd", since
Natilus also uses oafd.

I used to have this problem every now and again with Evolution until
some guys told me that it's an oafd problem. They suggested using the
following commands - "killev; killall oafd" when Evo is NOT loaded, then

What I do these days is to load Evo from a script, my script looks like

#!/bin/sh

killev; killall oafd; evolution

After you sign the first message, the passphrase is cached and it won't
ask again until it is removed from the cache (either by restarting
evolution or by telling it to forget passwords/phrases)

Are you sure it's not signing the following messages? and are you sure
you are checking off the "PGP Sign" checkbox each time?

I don't have any debugging info, but my Evo has been crashing for a couple
weeks, when it applies filters, after getting new POP mail. Not on each
time, but often enough. That's why (in addition to missing my lost
contacts), I've been waiting somewhat impatiently for a new snapshot.

-You probably need to update to the latest stable ORBit from
-CVS to fix this one. After you do this though, can you see
-if evo crashes when you open a Compose window, type a few
-characters, then hit (see bug 2517)? I've been trying

-aren't listening.

Thanks, but how do I get the latest *stable* ORBit from CVS?
When I try

cvs -d ':pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvs/gnome' login
cvs -d ':pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/cvs/gnome' -z3 checkout ORBit

(like with evolution, gal, etc.) I get a very old version. Where is the
right place to
get it (and also how)?

thanks a lot,
Heinz-Josef Claes

PS: Sorry for the bad format of the mail, but I'm receiving with evo
   and sending with mozilla.

Unfortunately, this isn't the crash. You need to type "c" to continue
past this and then it should get another signal.

[Evolution] imap access problem

2001-05-08 Thread Tom Cooper

I'm running evo .10 on RH7.1 using IMAP to access my Exchange mailbox.

I have lots of folders, and use server-side rules to file messages into
folders for me.

(I don't think that this matters, but I figured I should mention it.
I'm also running Outlook against that same Exchange mailbox all of the
time.)

Evolution doesn't always notice when new mail is filed into the folders.
I have evo set to update every 8 minutes, but that doesn't always seem
to work. If I click on send/receive, it generally updates.

Right now I'm seeing what I tend to see a few times a day. The imap box
simply won't update. The send/recieve dialog is up, but simply says
"updating" for the imap box, and will never return.

Please let me know if I can provide any additional information about
this.

Regards,
Tom Cooper

[Evolution] inbox stability

2001-05-08 Thread Tom Cooper

I'm running RH 7.1, Evo 0.10.
I have issues with stability of the inbox. About twice a day, the view
crashes and I have to restart evo. The worst part is yesterday I had
spent about an hour writing an email when it crashed and I lost my work.
Bummer!

What inforamtion can I provide which would be helpful in debugging the
cause of the crash?

Regards,
Tom Cooper

Just try it out. I'm having a hard time figuring out exactly
how to reproduce it now, but it just happened to me again 5
minutes ago. When I clicked on message headers in the message
list window of my IMAP folder, they were highlighted in gray.
Then I think I switched to my local Inbox (where they always have
highlighted in blue, but the key selectively stops working),
and switched back, my IMAP message headers started highlighting
in blue. Both of these problems probably are focus-related,
and were recently introduced. If I can come up with a way
to reproduce this one faithfully, I'll submit another bug report.
But this absolutely positively does happen. I'm not sure if
the IMAP highlight color problem introduces anything else.

Dan

P.S. I'm using the evolution-0-10 branch, and everything else
is most recent from CVS. And gtkhtml still crashes if I open
the Compose window, type a few characters, then hit . This
has been going on for weeks now (see bug 2517), but I'm not getting
anywhere with it.

[Evolution] error when checking POP

2001-05-08 Thread Tom Cooper

I'm running 0.10 configured for 2 accounts. The default account is an
IMAP account, and the secondary account is a POP3 account.

I inconsistently get the following error:
When launching evolution, I get a dialog prompting me to enter my IMAP
password, and simultaneously get an error dialog indicating that my POP
provider is not accepting connections.

Please note that the POP account does not prompt me to enter my password
prior to generating this error. Subsequently, if I hit the send/receive
button, I am prompted for my password, I enter it, and all works fine.

Hope this information helps.

Tom Cooper

Uhm, what do you mean? I am pretty sure that there is no difference,
at GUI/focus level, between the way IMAP folders and local folders are
handled.

[Evolution] GPG Signature fails

2001-05-08 Thread Juan Alonso Hernández

I'm using evo 0.10 and I've a working configuration for gpg. I've
configured evo to use /usr/bin/gpg and whenever I try to sign a message,
the first time it asks me for my private key passphrase but only for the
first message. All the following emails I send as signed aren't
delivered with the signature. It just asks for the passphrase the first
time.

Am I doing anything wrong?
