Hi Kevin,
Have you tried watching a live match on battrick? Does this work for blind
users or does the page not update.

Re: [Audyssey] New GTC game play recording

2006-09-12 Thread Thomas Ward
Hi Raul,
Eventually, I think it would be great if some of my tactics could become
apart of the audio archive. Mining the road north of the bridge is just
one of them I found verye helpful in making the level easier to deal with.
Another area that is a good place for mines is the mouth of Northern
road in sector 2. do it early on and as the tanks enter the town from
the north gate and come down northern road you can kill some of them
before they can get fully in place and ambush you somewhere. Either that
or find a position somewhere near by and kill them as they turn on to
5th street and eliminate them before they can do much damage.

raul, is your site offline?
I was in the middle of gtcs4 file and it timed out and I can no
longer connect to your site.
Everything else works here, so I was just wandering.
I'd like to finnish getting the files as tomorrow after noon sometime
I will be away from the net on a beach somewhere nice and hot.
Just for the weekend, well 2 weekends will be back during weeks.

All ya need is a patch cable. I believe you can get them for about $6 or so
at radio shack. I would think all you'd need to do is hook that up to your
TV's headphone jack if it has one. Or if you have a stereo system, hook it
up to that. Then hook the other end up to your line-in on your soundcard and
boom! Audio.

[Audyssey] sorta off topic. disabling repeat mode in goldwave

2006-09-12 Thread Yohandy
Hello all,
Just wanted to ask this to the group, since many of us use goldwave for game
recordings anyway. Does anyone know how to turn off repeat mode on goldwave?
I don't even remember turning it on, but it just keeps jumping to the
beginning of a track when it reaches the end. it's very annoying, and makes
sound editting harder.
Thanks for any help!

hi, it's not actually a problem. if you look at the jfw help files, it tells
you this is how you open and close and select in a combo box. it's just that
some sites seem to be able to hold on to the selection without the openeing
and closing, battrick doesn't in the player selection area, but it does on
other parts of the site though.

Re: [Audyssey] Rowing machine

2006-09-12 Thread ari
Hi Tom, I don't know, but it must be really expensive for some models, if
you think that professional rowers use the expensive ones. Remember though
that as a blind person, you'd have the benefit (at least with the model I
saw) of hearing the sea everytime you pull, and hearing the scarey tones for
the shark. I think though that to use a lot of the features, you would need
sighted help.
You do also get other cool machines that do things which you'd think cool,
like for cricket, the provinces and large clubs train using machines that
bowl different types of balls at different types of speeds at the player.
Unfortunately, I don't know if the machine can be set to bowl sort of
under-arm so that it can be used by players of blind cricket. For rugby
their's also machines against which you must push called scrum machines, it
sort of uses powerful springs to try and push you back. As for playing games
while you excersise, which would be cool, their was an excersise bike at an
exhibition, it is still being properly developed, but while you pedal, you
have a little screen in front of you and you try to drive the bike through a
maize to complete a work-out. When you put pressure on the left side of the
handle bars, the bike on the screen goes left, and of course, right would go
right. I'm not sure, but I also think that the difficulty level changes when
you get to a hill in the maize etc. I think I heard that it has about 21
maizes for different types of excersise. I wonder if their'll ever be an
accessible sort of excersise machine with games for blind people to help us
enjoy excersise more.

You go to the combo box, with jfw you press alt and down it should say
'open' choose player, then press alt up and it should say 'closed.' I think
this problem should be really simple to fix, but I'm just not sure how to
explain the problem to the battrick staff. If you guys could help me, we
could make a letter and email it to battrick. How do you explain the
problem, something like: 'we sellect items from the combo boxes, but they're
not staying selected?'

[Audyssey] New GTC game play recording

2006-09-12 Thread Raul A. Gallegos
Hi gamers. I've done a new recording for GTC. This time I played the
arcade mode. I was going to try out Tom's suggestion on sector 5 of
lining the area with mines but I forgot.

This time for the files there are 6 of them, one per sector. I did not
even bother breaking them down into smaller chunks. The files are all
called:

Raul_GTC_SX_Sep12_2006.mp3 where X is a number from 1 to 6 for the
different sectors. You can get them from http://games.asmodean.net under
the game audio section. The other GTC recording files are still there
however they are not in the html page so only way to get them is if you
know the exact file name.

I'll be taking that game from last week down soon in favor of this new
one today.

All the best.

Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. "Of course you don't --
till I tell you. I meant 'there's a nice knock-down argument for you!'"
"But glory doesn't mean 'a nice knock-down argument'," Alice
objected.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in a rather scornful
tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less."
"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean
so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master --
that's all."

to do it, then send it to me and I'll put it up with whatever description

Yeah, that's right, but when it's a game you already know, I don't find the

[Audyssey] where has the portal gone?

2006-09-12 Thread shaun everiss
Hi all.
For all those who think the portal dissapears, well aparently it doesn't.
It just moves.
If you scan properly in the room with the level1 teleport there is a door.
its almost in the same place as the level1 teleport though so hard to spot.
Now go through that and down the passage.
Through the door at the end and then search for another door, again
hard to spot but you can get there.
Then shoot the monsters and the portal is there.
If it aint there, its in the other place.
I recomend getting the armour first, shooting the monsters in
the room with the first end game portal.
If its there go back and finnish the other locations.
A small tip.
If you can avoid destroying the portal, well its lightly protected.
Nothing major guards that.
a cyborg, and sometimes a couple humans with lasers.

[Audyssey] MK Deception was Re: Hunter GamePlay

2006-09-12 Thread Neo
HI Yohandy,
I'm definitely for it. I've always been deeply interested in Mortal Combat
and I have never seen anyone play Deception yet, not to mention that I don't
have it myself. So go for it if you can.
Thanks,
Lukas

[Audyssey] Hunter GamePlay

2006-09-12 Thread Yohandy
Hello everyone.
I was pretty bored this morning, so decided to record myself playing Hunter.
I do not talk on this review, that's because folks will probably enjoy it
better that way, and because I'm just terrible at the game. I completely
humiliated myself on
some of these levels. hehe.
I don't have a place to host the review, so if anyone's willing to host it,
please let me know. Thanks!

P. S. I was considering recording myself playing Mortal Kombat: deception,
or doing a walkthrough of some kind for this game. what do you guys think? I
could do it if enough people are interested.

For an amazing video gaming site containing original soundtracks, game art,
etc, go here.

Re: [Audyssey] battrick.

2006-09-12 Thread kevin and emma
hi, maybe the below will help. it's taken from within the sledging forum on
battrick.org. i've worked the 3 day game selection thing out so if i can
help let me know. but read the following first.

A quick guide to the new orders for First Class games...

Spell Orders? What's that about?

Hover your mouse over 'Spell Orders'

Max Overs / Min Overs / Max Runrate

These are guidelines you can set to your captain.
A spell is a period of bowling. Unlike in one-day games, there are no limits
on how many overs a bowler can bowl.

In real life, fast bowlers have short spells of maybe 4 to 8 overs. But if
they are taking lots of wickets the captain will let them bowl for longer.

A spinner can bowl almost endlessly... more than 20 overs in a spell. But if
you have a high stamina spinner, and he is being hit for 10 an over, you
want
your captain to take him off! So you can suggest how many runs you think
that bowler should be allowed to concede per over.

Example

Max Overs / Min Overs / Max Runrate

e.g. 8-4-6

His spell will be at least 4 overs, at most 8 overs, but will end if he
concedes more than 6 runs an over.

Declaring

If you are batting against a rubbish team, for example Moss Side
(4618)
in IV.24 in England, you will score many thousands of runs. But the match
only lasts 3 days, so while it's cool to spend 3 days scoring 800 for 2, the
match
will be a draw. You can set a declaration target. When your team have scored
that many runs, they will declare their innings over, and you can start
bowling
at the other team.

Following on

Imagine you bat first and score lots of runs, say 600.

Then you bowl the other team out for 100. He's so far behind that you can
force him to bat again. That's called making him follow on. i.e. he bats,
and
bats again.

Now you still have another turn left, so if he scores 501 in his second
innings, you need to score 2 runs to win.

Only the team that bats first can make someone follow on.

In RL teams don't always enforce the follow on - sometimes their bowlers are
too tired and they want to allow them to put their feet up for a bit and
normally
it is harder to bat last as the pitch cracks up.

However if one team is better than the other they will normally enforce the
follow on as in cricket you aren't just playing against the opposition, you
are also playing against the clock as you need to take 20 wickets inside a
certain time (in battrick 3 days, in test matches 5 days) in order to win.
If
you bat twice it gives you less time to bowl the opposition out twice.

Priority

Use the priority boxes to select the five or six players you want to bowl.
Priority acts like a ranking system. When a bowler gets tired, the captain
will
look to change the bowling. He will (depending on circumstances) use the
highest ranked player available.

For example, if you have two spinners, one proficient and one competent, you
might want to set the proficient spinner to priority 4, and the competent to
priority 5. That way, the captain is more likely to use your better spinner.
