[gentoo-user] XFS server eating too much CPU
Hi there, I've installed X Font server (4.3.0r3) on newly compiled Gentoo, and I've added it to default runlevel by rc-update add xfs default. Now it is eating minimum 40%CPU. It is not responding to kill command or /etc/init.d/xfs stop. I have 1.3 GHz Celeron computer. -- : :. kind regards :.. Hm I think nmap is checking various parameters of packets from scan like TTL and such each OS has its predefined values for parameters of packets... [gentoo-user] Trying to configure VIA sound on gentoo
Hi, can anyone help me with configuring VIA sound on gentoo? My card is: bash-2.05b# grep audio /proc/pci Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8233 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 64). I have recompiled my kernel with soundcard support as module and VIA82c686 and Oss sound both as modules. Then I emerged alsa-drivers and made module-updates. I got message while going to maintenance mode stating: fsck.reiserfs for device /dev/hda3 exited with signal 6. and bread: Cannot read the block (XX): (Input/output error) So I booted to Knoppix and did reiserfsck --fix-fixable (I am assuming that while I have new harddrive no --rebuild-tree option is needed), it didn't find any error at all.
