Re: [gentoo-user] Apache + php
hi! with apache2 it is in /etc/conf.d/apache2 APACHE2_OPTS="-D PHP -D SSL -D DAV -D DAV_FS -D LDAP -D AUTH_LDAP" I don't know, how it is with apache 1.* but have a look at this /etc/conf.d/ perhaps you find a apache.conf or so btw it is enough to emerge apache with mod_php. you don't need php except you want to run php-scripts in the console or so. Does anybody know, why ldap ist commented in the apache2 builds? I use this with several servers and I have no problems. hope this helped. I found out that entering the URL at https://localhost/squirrelmail/ works but the one without the trailing / doesnt work. I saw some articles about this in the squirrelmail list but havent figured out what I need to do about it. The other error I had was that I had set up IMAP-SSL and set the port to 993. That doesnt work. I dont as yet know how to tell squirrelmail to use imapds. RE: [gentoo-user] Apache, PHP and HTTPS issue
Ok i found out that i needed to type index.php in the URL. But why? My commonapache2.conf contains the entry: DirectoryIndex index.html index.html.var index.php index.php3 index.shtml index.cgi index.pl index.htm Default.htm default.htm So this should cause apache to look for index.php right? To be honest, I hate having to use any kinda package management system mess with my apache/php/mod_ssl installation. There are just *too* many combinations to get it right. So I always download the sources and compile from scratch and install everything under /opt so it doesn't affect the package managed system in /usr. But to answer your question, if you're doing some basic dev stuff then go ahead and install apache2+php. But it's still not ready for production use because the a lot of the php extensions aren't thread safe. And to emerge it, put 'apache2' in your USE flags and then 'emerge apache2 mod_php'. (yes, you have to re-emerge mod_php to use apache2 instead of apache) later, ajay Satyajot (Ajay) Sharma [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- [EMAIL PROTECTED] mailing list
