others have mentioned that it's already in progress, but for now you can use 
"kappfinder".  it's an app distributed with kde to help find other 
applications on your system and setup them up in the k menu.

The devs are working on this.  But what's wrong with right-clicking the 
K-menu and using kmenuedit (Menu Editor) - it's really easy.
