Here's the updated document to include codes in the term paths. The csv
file is posted on Central Desktop in the CMH folder

Comment (by ngraham):

In discussion with Russ, I learned that pregnancy is one of the exclusion
criteria for the aspirin trial. KU has it under `Visit Details \ Visit
Vitals \ Last Menstrual Period \ Pregnant` in HERON/i2b2. There are also
other pregnancy related concepts such as diagnoses.

Comment:

Somehow I was under the impression that we owed a write-up on [[PMO]]
milestone 2.6, but we already did that in #176. So the write-up is for our
 own purposes.

I took a quick peek, and I see nothing wrong with your draft. Let's start
looking at what to do for next quarter, perhaps focussing on CDM
 compliance (#240).

As "reporter," it's nominally up to you to judge whether this ticket is
done (subject to appeal), but I'm going to optimistically presume you're
 happy with it.

Re: [gpc-informatics] #103: subject of observation (e.g. maternal findings relevant to child)

2015-05-12 Thread Bushee, Glenn
Would MOM_ID / DAD_ID maybe be better in PATIENT_DIMENSION as a 1-time fact
like BIRTH_DATE/VITAL_STATUS? This shouldn’t overload that table with extra
data and would facilitate making queries (not pretty ones) joining together
Mom/Child facts from OBSERVATION_FACT.

BTW, I checked our instance and was surprised to find that the MOM_ID field was
filled in over 10k times, but the DAD_ID was almost non-existent.

Agreed; that was the point of the LOINC codes for observation_values for
"Mother_of", "Father_of" and "Family_member_of"

The best way I can think of would be to add a concept that links to a
parent or child patient_num.

For example, if a child had an observation of:
CHILD_OF VALUE= where is the patient_num of the mother.

Or we could do the opposite with the mother¹s observation being:
HAS_CHILD VALUE= where is the patient_num of the child.

This would give you the ability, on the back end at least, to find
siblings and parents.

Alternate plan would be to just add a separate table with the data needed
and keep it outside of i2b2, since i2b2 can¹t really handle the parent
child relationships.
