[Histonet] BD PROBETEC

2017-02-10 Thread Baldwin, Kathy via Histonet
Hi Histonetters!!
We have a probetec unit that our histology department is willing
to sell. Below is conformation of the manufacturer date. It was taken out of
service this past fall and was in full working order. It does have a water
bath and heat block (the heat block is having issues maintaining a temp). The
model is BD Probetec ET, serial number: PT 2782. I will get ahold of our
materials management department if this is something any of you are interested
in.

Thanks

[Histonet] Selling a Ventana Discovery XT

2017-02-10 Thread Allan Wang via Histonet
Hello list,

The last message reminded me:

My lab is upgrading from the Discovery XT to the Ultra so we're selling the
XT. We're offering it for a great price compared to new. It'll come with
the computer, slide label printer, accessories, and all the reagents -
everything needed to get started. It's only been used for 7 months and is
still under the original first year service contract (doubt it will
transfer though)

If anyone is interested, I'd be happy to discuss the pros and cons of the
system. It is located in Rockville, MD.

Here is an example of a double stain:

[Histonet] New lab

2017-02-10 Thread Emily Horst via Histonet
Hi everyone,

I am in the process of setting up a new lab. We will process FNA specimens
as cell blocks and then treat them as regular histology specimens.

I am curious as to finding a proper VIP schedule for processing these
specimens. Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance,

Emily Horst

[Histonet] need automation system for fluorescent Multiplex IHC

2017-02-10 Thread Maria Mejia via Histonet
Dear All,

I work in a research lab where the focus is on early stages of Alzheimer’s
Disease.
We are seriously considering using an automated staining system for fluorescent
Multiplex
IHC, for the simultaneous detection of multiple (2-6 or more) proteins of
interest in
FFPE brain sections.

However, our lab has never used an automated staining system before, so we lack
the abilities and experience to make the correct choice for our lab’s needs.

Cost; the price of a USED system, since we are a research lab since a new
system is more
expensive, user friendly & size of system are of course major considerations as
well
as the consumables that go along with the system e.g. reagents, containers, &
anything else
to consider as well.

Please, I’m reaching out to anyone (system users & vendors) who can help our
lab make a smart choice.
I would be most grateful for any recommendations or suggestions. I very much
look forward to hearing
from you.

Re: [Histonet] Immunohistochemistry ghosting

2017-02-10 Thread Duddey, Aimee via Histonet
When we saw this happening it was slide related, especially with it happening
across all platforms. We use Cardinal Healthcare SuperFrost Plus and haven't
had an issue. Every time we have tried another brand we have seen this happen
to some degree.

Subject: [Histonet] Immunohistochemistry ghosting

Hello,
We have been experiencing problems with ghosting (inconsistent and/or no
staining) mainly affecting our control area which is located at the bottom of
the slide. Random antibodies markers are being affected. We were using Fisher
Scientific then TruBond slides. We are using Ventana Ultras X4 and XT in which
it is occurring on all machines. Ventana has come in to troubleshoot, in which
we have not reached a solution.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
