[Histonet] Processing Canine Nasal Passages

2016-05-18 Thread Wilson, Carol via Histonet
Good Afternoon,
I am looking for information on collection (ie. Upper jaw to eye socket?),
decalcification(approximate timing, tips?), trimming (any tips/suggestions) and
processing (without mega cassettes if possible) canine FFPE tissues. If
someone can please give me some suggestions or ideas I would appreciate it. Or
direction to an appropriate article? Thanks in advance.

[Histonet] Bone Density in Rodent Femurs/Archimedes Principle

2015-11-04 Thread Wilson, Carol via Histonet
Hi All,
I am not having much luck finding exact information to perform bone density on
rat femurs/tibias using Archimedes principle. Can anyone provide an exact
procedure, or point me in the right direction? Including exact type of
equipment used, etc. I have found many references with outlined instructions,
but not exact enough for what I need.
Thanks,
Carol

[Histonet] RE: Leica Slide Printers

2013-10-22 Thread Wilson, Carol
We have had our slide printer for going on 6 years and have had minimal
problems. It does require good maintenance habits though, as do all slide
printers. We also purchased the PM/service contract on this and the cassette
printer when the warranty ran out and I think they are worth the cost since
service calls always seem to cost a lot even if it is something minor.

[Histonet] Cresyl Violet as a counterstain

2012-04-18 Thread Wilson, Carol
Hi All,
Looking for suggestions or protocol for staining 20 micron rat brain sections
with a Prussian Blue w/cresyl violet counterstain and a modified Wright Giemsa
w/ Cresyl Violet counterstain. Any suggestions or tips to do this would be
greatly appreciated. Both for dealing with these very thick sections and then
also for the staining. Thanks in advance.

[Histonet] FDA Reagent Label Requirements for Richard allan Flex alcohols

2011-08-03 Thread Wilson, Carol
Hi All,
I currently got inspected by my QA dept. and they complained that our Flex
alcohols did not have storage requirements on their labels, is anyone using the
new Flex alcohols in the larger bottles and if so, do they have the storage
requirements on the labels. If not, are there any GLP labs out there that add
a label to their alcohols when they are received stating storage requirements?
Looking for ideas to have a simple fix for this.
Thanks,
Carol

[Histonet] GGT IHC in NHP

2010-09-21 Thread Wilson, Carol
Hi All,

Does anyone out there have experience staining for GGT in NHP tissue,
specifically Rhesus monkey? If so, could you please forward any
information you may have. I was told by a business manager that this is
"just a standard special stain" , like an iron, PAS or Trichrome, and
should be able to accommodate within our standard histology offerings.

Thanks in advance for all help.

[Histonet] Lab to do Possible EM as well as preferred fixative

2009-05-12 Thread Wilson, Carol
Hi All,

We are going to be collecting rat ileum for possible EM after completion
of our study. I am looking for a lab to possibly process these
specimens as well as what most would consider the preferred choice of
fixative and storage while we are holding the specimens until the
decision is made to process them. Thanks in advance for replies.

[Histonet] Human tumors from mouse xenograft IHC HELP!

2009-04-16 Thread Wilson, Carol
Can anybody out there provide protocols and/or vendors for the following
antibodies for human tumors from mouse xenograft: ORC1L, MCM4, MCM6,
MCM7, Cyclin D3, and FEN1? I am trying to show my boss that this is not
as simple as he seems to think it is for a lab that is not basically set
up to do even basic IHC. Thanks in advance...

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if LFB stain works well for staining nerves in GMA
sections? My pathologist is looking at sections of these stained
elsewhere and she does not feel the myelin is staining as it should.
Any insight on this particular combination? Thanks in advance.
