[Histonet] slide printers
HEllo Histonetters, We are a research lab that has been using the Leica IPC/IPS printed for many years. Today the flash motor went out in the IPS. We are now looking into updating the slide printer. We are research only and NOT hooked into any LIS system. It would be a stand alone process. Can some of you share what you have and the pros/cons? I need to start the search for the replacement I would like. Thank you in advance. -- Colleen Forster HT(ASCP)QIHC BLS Histology and IHC Laboratory Jackson Hall, Room 2-155 321 Church St. SE Minneapolis, MN 55455 612-626-1930 ___ Histonet mailing list Histonet@lists.utsouthwestern.edu http://lists.utsouthwestern.edu/mailman/listinfo/histonet

Re: [Histonet] slide printers
Jessica, We did this successfully. At one time, our cassette printers (Leica IPC) were not interfaced either, but we were able to use Leica's software and enter the cassette identifiers, and that information was able to be saved in the bar-code, which also printed on the cassette. Patient names were not printed, only the accession number/letter. We have the SlideMate Pro printers, and before they were interfaced, we were able to scan the barcode on our blocks and they would print the information obtained from there. The SlideMates were also able to be programmed so that the hospital name was printed at the bottom of each slide. So it can be done, but only if your blocks are bar-coded. Good Morning, Happy Friday Everyone. I was wondering what people are using/recommending for slide printers at the microtome? Do they all have to be connected to an LIS? The Thermo Slidemate and Prima are both good. The Thermo is small. It is designed for a microtome work station. If you find another company, I would be careful to ensure they can interface with your LIS and or cassette marker. You want continuity between the two makers and the LIS Sent from my iPad > On May 5, 2016, at 6:45 PM, Ginny Achstetter wrote: > > > I need a recommendation on a slide printer. Just curious as to anyone's thoughts on slide printers and cassette printers. We currently process close to 200 blocks per day and are considering adding at least a slide labeler to improve efficiency. We have an open platform LIS that most printers are currently interfaced with, so all things equal, I would love to hear from histonetters which brands they love/hate and why :) ___ Histonet mailing list Histonet@lists.utsouthwestern.edu http://lists.utsouthwestern.edu/mailman/listinfo/histonet

Hello Everyone, I am looking for a small slide printer that works off a bar code printed on the cassette. There are some small ones on the market that can sit right next to the microtome for each tech to use. Anyone have any experience with these printers? Thanks!
