[hlds] Infinite deadringer cheat?
One of my admins came across this today: http://www.sourceop.com/videos/banned_players/cheater_frostnixon_20090726.av i Has anyone seen anything like this before? I know that spectating players will not correctly show their cloak meter, but this guy is able to instantly reuse his deadringer. I've never encountered such a cheat/exploit before. Anyone know what might be going on? Its just that steam will use at most 2 connections to content servers, high bandwidth-delay product, windows tcp settings and packet loss (tcp is very sensitive at high data rates). Upload bandwidth is also important, if the ratio of download to upload is high, ~1:20 and higher, then with default windows settings there is not enough upload bandwidth to send all acknowledgment packets to reach maximum download bandwidth. If you're on windows xp try http://tepeserwery.pl/wscale.reg (needs restart, will only help for high bdp not packet loss or upload bw). Interestingly enough, when you configure your servers to properly autoupdate, it appears to move way faster than using hldsupdatetool, at least on my 4 FIOS servers. [hlds] ClipRayToVPhysics crash and other related crash
I get those exact 2 crashes, where gdb shows it was either in ClipRayToVPhysics() or CTFProjectile_Arrow::PositionArrowOnBone() If anyone at Valve wants my crash dumps, I'll be happy to send the relevant ones. I can download updates and games from steam at 1.5 mb/s with my 30/10 line with comcast. The fact is, there still isnt cable available in some places so people are stuck with DSL.
