Anyway, kalau ada artikel2 or link menarik mengenai hal tsb, boleh sharing2
mas
kayaknya menarik juga belajar virtualisasi dg banyaknya teknology yg banyak
disediakan vendors juga...jadi banyak pilihan juga...

ya, harusnya secara logika gampang ya mayan bisa "ngirit" dan
meng-optimalkan server, krn lama2 harga space juga mahal, dg virtualisasi
dan harga kejangkau bisa jadi alternative solution.

Tergantung definisi "repot" dan DR yang digunakan seperti apa. Disaster 
Recovery yang paling sederhana, tinggal copy folder Virtual Machine ke 
Server baru, up and running kurang dari 5 menit.

terus terang sih pengen coba implementasiin itu juga...mungkin solusi HP
untuk SMB itu cocok krn platform-nya proliant server dan konsep menggunakan
1 server proliant sudah bisa virtualisasi dg server proliantnya, denger2
harganya cuma sekitar 500-600$ untuk 1 Server. Tapi kalo yg level
enterprise-nya bisa 4,000$ :)

kalau server branded macam HP (DELL, IBM saya yakin juga ada), dan
hotplug kayak nya bisa deh. meski selalu backup dulu akan lebih baik.

sebenarnya kalau server nya bisa di down sih, gak ada kebutuhan vital
untuk zero down policy, mending di ghost :)

sedikit menambahkan, saya rasa yang ingin dicapai RAID selain
reliabilitas adalah speed I/O. theorinya, speed I/O untuk raid 1, pas
READ, akan n times dari single disk, n = jumlah disk yang di RAID 1
kan. cuma pas WRITE ya sama kayak single disk plus sedikit overhead.

kalau mau ngejar speed saja, hajar pake RAID 0. anyway, RAID 1 dan 0
tidak melulu harus 2 disk, bisa saja kita me RAID 1 yang terdiri dari
4 disk, teori nya speed READ nya akan 4 kali speed single disk.

untuk reliabilitas, RAID tidak meng hilangkan kebutuhan backup. so,
persepsi saya selama ini, RAID sebenar nya buat speed, bukan reliabilitas.

(raid 2 disk di mirror ke 2 disk biasanya namanya RAID 10, raid 0 di
mirror kayak nya).

Tambahan lagi mas Andy,
Coba cek lagi semua PC dan Laptop yg masuk ke jaringan, terutama laptop para 
boss. Para net admin biasanya agak risih ya kalo mau periksa peralatan para 
boss misalnya PC, laptop bahkan flashdisk.
Kejadian yg sering di tmpt saya malah memang biasanya jg laptop atau PC boss2 
yg suka kirim sinyal broadcast (biasanya krn adanya virus) akibat pemakaian 
internet yg kurang peduli virus, malware, spyware dan sebangsanya.

Tips dari saya:
1. Cek semua antivirus dan software firewall di semua PC dan laptop. Yg belum 
punya pasangkan, yg sdh punya cek update-nya, atur supaya pake RTP (real time 
protection) terutama buat para boss atau rekan lain yg mals update.

2. Rajin-rajin cek tujuan jelajah internet dari semua user. Buat aturan baik di 
proxy maupun di firewall, core switch atau lainnya utk proteksi jalu internet, 
buat white list dan black list, serta settingan jaringan lainnya spt besar 
download yg diijinkan, besar bandwidth utk tiap user, dsb.

3. Cek ulang secara berkala konfigurasi logic dan fisik jaringan setiap bbrp 
bulan. Lakukan refreshing pada semua alat komunikasi, PC, laptop, dan server.

4. Usahakan tidak terlalu banyak file/folder yg dibuka sebebasnya alias full 
sharing kalo tidak terlalu penting. Lakukan buka tutup seperlunya saja.

5. Buat aturan yg bisa disepakati bersama seluruh kantor ttg cara aman dan 
nyaman memakai internet dan intranet di jaringan. Misalnya tidak sering 
melakukan copy atau transaksi kirim file dalam jumlah besar diantara user 
karena bisa memberatkan beban jaringan, dsb.

Mungkin segitu aja dulu yg saya ingat. Maaf kalo ada yg slh atau krg. Kalo ada 
rekan2 yg bisa menambahkan silahkan. Kita sharing aja disini.

  Di tempatku dulu pernah ada kejadian serupa, ternyata setelah di cek pakai
  network monitor ada client pc yang selalu broadcast dan menyebabkan network
  full. Ketika pc tersebut di scan dan kami menemukan virus "opasrv'. Setelah
  si opasrv nya hilang baru network dapat berjalan dengan normal.

Kadang ada virus / worm yang menjadikan dirinya sesuai dengan nama file 
document, akan tetapi extension nya bisa exe atau vbs dengan icon 
document tersebut.
File dokumennya ngak hilang, cuma dihidden.
Kalau mau pastinya, silahkan ketik di command prompt
/
C:\NAMAFOLDER>ATTRIB -h -s -r -a

/Atau kalau ngak pusing ke explorer Windows kemudian pilih menu /*Tools 
-> Folder Options -> View*/ kemudian yang bagian /*Hidden Files and 
Folders*/ pilih radio button yang /Show hidden files and folders/.
Kemudian boleh juga ditambahkan dengan tidak mengaktifkan /Hide 
extension for known file types/.

[ITCENTER] Newbie: Virtualisasi VMWare Untuk Disaster Recovery dan Symantec Backup Exec

[Faisal]

Saya beerncana melakukan simulasi virtualaisasi mail server (exchage) just
in case ada disaster (amit..amit) dgn menggunakan VMWare.

Nah karena sebelumnya pernah coba pake VMware tapi yang versi workstation,
pertanyaannya kira-kira produk VMware mana yang cocok untuk virtualisasi
disaster recovery (DR). Apakah cukup VMware wokstation aja atau VMware
server? Masih binun coz VMware server belum coba?

Btw ada yang pernah coba virtualsiasi VMware ini untuk DR?

Terus produk image backup mana yang cocok buat backup exhcnage dan Active
directory? Pernah coba sysmantec backup exec tapi beuu ribet bgt ya dan file
installannya cukup kompleks shg dikahwatirkan ganggu integritas system
server (terutama Exchange) sedangkan system server terutama SBS server
disarankan jgn banyak program yang dinstall (musti minimalis).

Btw share donk pengalamannya pake symantec backup exec. apakah ada faislitas
imaging drive juga?? lumyan kompleks ini software dan rada ribet... terutama
yang masih belum ngerti adalah sysmatec contiunous backup server itu
kegunaannya apa...

1. copy slrh file joomla yg ada di localhost
2. ubah konfigurasi joomla (file: configuration.php) sesuaikan dengan
konfigurasi di t4 hosting kamu...

soalnya begitu di telusuri begitu boss kaga masuk beberapa hari and tdk ada 
masalah di network semua running well.

  Di tempatku dulu pernah ada kejadian serupa, ternyata setelah di cek pakai
  network monitor ada client pc yang selalu broadcast dan menyebabkan network
  full. Ketika pc tersebut di scan dan kami menemukan virus "opasrv'. Setelah
  si opasrv nya hilang baru network dapat berjalan dengan normal.

Maaf nich nambahin, 
saya punya RAID 1 mirror  80 GB ( pake HD 2 HD masing masing 80 GB ), 
saya mau upgrade jadi 160 GB dengan mengganti satu - satu HD nya. tanpa 
mengcopy file nya mungkin tidak ?
jadi saya jadwal kan mungkin minggu ini saya ganti HD1 yang 80 GB dengan 320 
GB. dan minggu berikut nya saya ganti HD2 yang 80 GB dengan 320 GB lagi. gimana 
mas - mas ada gangguan tidak ?

Betul saya setuju. Bila itu server branded, biasanya menyertakan
software tools untuk check kondisi h/w.
Karena banyakkejadian, h/w juga berpengaruh. Setelah h/w tak ape ape,
baru permasalahan ini menjadi tidak valid kalo h/w menjadi penyebab.
tunjuk hidung ke OS dulu pasti.
Kalo sudah OS, bisa diukur utiliasinya lewat semacam perf monitor,
atau kalo sudah komunikasi eror, bisa diukur menggunakan semacam
software seperti etherial untuk melihat traffic apa aja yang keluar
dari server tersebut.

IMHO. Kalo menurut saya, disk tidak bisa saling membackup dan menjaga
availability, tapi itu tugasnya controller.
Nah masalah ada yang jadi master atau slave (sebetulnya istilah ini
kurang pas juga), itu bisa saja menjadi propietary dari vendor yang
menciptakan controller. Selama prinsip mirroring RAID 1 dipenuhi,
artinya ketika salah satu HDD rusak, maka HDD lain bisa di backup.

Sebetulnya konsep HDD pun menjadi rancu manakala yang di mirror
menggunakan h/w mirror, kayak di smart Array HP, dia bisa membuat 2
HDD seolah2 menjadi 1 logical, dan di backupke 2 HDD yang lain.
Apa aja menjadi lebih luas ketika vendor mengembangkan sendiri hal tersebut.

Itu kan kalo saya lihat, (misalnya saya masuk yang bagian koleksi
digital), tinggal click.
Dia akan muncul pop up windows baru buka PDF nya (kalo udah install plug in pdf)
nah kalo udah muncul semua, click aja tombol save nya di tool bar.
simpan deh di pc.

Atau kan pas buka javascript itu, catat aja url langsung nya.
download pake download manager.

klo firefox bicara penambahan / add ons security di browser mereka.. itu dapat 
dimaklumkan karena dari kacamata IT auditor, yg namanya email atopun hal2x yg 
bersifat privacy uda kudu tidak diperbolehkan utk offline side atopun tersimpan 
secara temporary cache...

Firefox menerapkan hal seperti itu ada benernya juga.. siapapun tidak mau yg 
namanya isi email itu sampai tersimpan secara offline ato secara temporary 
cache di bookmark ato history site, nanti klo ada yang buka tuh compie-nya 
gimana ayo..
Uda umum yg namanya security, kudu ketat.. apalagi skrg uda byk website seperti 
google ato yahoo, ada expire data berdasarkan tanggal.. dengan asumsi jika 
lewat dari 1 hari, harus login ulang...
Jika diliat dari sisi security sampe2x akhirnya menjadi kekhawatiran para 
petinggi ISP di Indonesia.. saya nilai itu terlalu berlebihan, karena Risk-nya 
kecil kok.. apasih yg dikhawatirkan.. paling2x international bandwidth.. 
ujung2x international traffic.. 
enggak usah dipusingkan, perihal firefox seperti itu.. klo kadang2x bisa jalan, 
yah mungkin itu lagi ngaco, alias emang belum stabil dari firefox-nya...
Klo di tempat sy yg namanya Firefox ato IE 7 ato IE 8, dan melakukan hal 
seperti ini, tidak mungkin, karena kita uda diwajibkan aware dengan security [ 
due care and due diligent ], jadi semua centralized.. jadi enggak efek tuh 
dibuat seperti itu oleh firefox, kita tetap kena filter juga...

Sama bro gw juga pake firefox 3 n IE 7,,, gw juga 2 minggu belakangan ini

Menurut dia, ini udah jadi bahan pembicaraan di kalangan petinggi2 ISP2 juga

lan card sudah coba di ganti beberapa komp. untuk beberapa hari fine tapi 
sesudah itu mulai masalah lagi. jarak antar computer dengan switch paling jauh 
15m, paling dekat 1m.

di ping sih kl kondisi bagus sih semua bagus tp kl mulai.. yaa kaga dapet sama 
sekali.
indikator connect atau enggak di pc client semua oke, tapi tidak mau nyambung.

Itu biasanya file tsb corrupt. Bisa anda perbaiki pake program

Excel Data Recovery. Banyak koq programnya di internet.

Sayangnya rata2 demo version dan shareware. Jadi program

tsb bisa memperbaiki file XLS dan DOC yg isinya kacau.

Utk info lebih lanjut silahkan anda searching di google mengenai

program tsb.

dan TV memang dominan menjadi major revenue, meskipun kita tahu keadaan sangat
crowded, 80% kita tidak ingat billboard apa yang kita lihat karena terlalu
crowdednya.  Marketing and Advertising
menghadapi new challenge, branding menjadi alternative yang lebih wise,
kreativitas semakin menjadi tuntutan. 

Kalau di
USA 20% orang mengganti Channel saat Iklan atau Commercial break? Kalau di
Indonesia kira- kira berapa %, ada yang tau ngga?

Apakah
sebenarnya arti dari consumer confidence dari segi ekonomi dan marketing
perspekfif?

Di tempatku dulu pernah ada kejadian serupa, ternyata setelah di cek pakai
network monitor ada client pc yang selalu broadcast dan menyebabkan network
full. Ketika pc tersebut di scan dan kami menemukan virus "opasrv'. Setelah
si opasrv nya hilang baru network dapat berjalan dengan normal.

harus aktivasi dulu,trus saya search di crack.am tetep aja ga bisa...ada yang 
punya solusi ngga?

Cek apakah memory yang di pakai di server HP, mendukung Advanced Error
Correction.

Setahu saya server lambat Faktornya akan lebih jelas jika di berikan data
yang jelas tentang keadaan lapangan. Bisa dari aplikasi yang di install di
server, bisa juga hardware yang akan rusak, bisa juga corrupt, atau bad
sector, bisa juga karena faktor lain.

Anda juga tidak menjelaskan apakah karena tambah user di aplikasi foxpro,
atau tambah user di active directory yang menyebabkan lambat.

Jadi saran saya berikan data yang akurat, supaya bisa anlisa lebih tepat.

Dear JIMMY,

mudah2an bisa membantu,

saya kurang jelas apa kah access sebagai UI dan database atau hanya database 
saja. klo access di anggap sebagai database untuk permasalahan anda lebih baik 
pengurutan di coding UI saja dengan 2 temp, 1 temp untuk bulan dan 1 temp untuk 
tahun dan saat reqist 2 temp di gabungkan.

sedangkan apa bila di access, setau saya tidak bisa .. access hanya bisa 
mengurutkan dari 1 sampe seterusnya .. klo dengan parameter khusus kayanya 
tidak memungkinkan..

Banyak Faktor, jika kurang mengerti lebih baik tanya yang lebih mengerti
jika di jabarkan akan sangat panjang.

Singkatnya :

1. Faktor Perangkat Keras entah kabel, switch, listrik, ethernet card, RJ45,
etc. ( pernah saya alami masalah listrik, setelah switch dipasang ups, baru
normal nyambung terus)

2. Faktor aturan main yang harus dipatuhi, kabel tidak boleh melebihi
panjang yang sudah ditentukan, Kabel yang bagus kualitasnya ( saya pernah
pakai kabel yang kualitasnya tidak bagus, akhirnya untuk nyambung terus
kadang harus di goyang, kejadian pada kabel merek belden, kabel kualitas
jelek ada hubnya dengan Rj45 nya. dll.

3. Faktor anallisa kebutuhan, dan pengaturan loop network antara backbone
dengan antar switch, dan bandwidth yang di butuhkan.

Contoh jika anda memakai switch (fast ethernet) 100 Mbps user bisa dapat
rata rata 6 MBps ( Walau sebenarnya berdasar teori 100Mbps = 12,5 MBps ).
Jadi perlu diperhatikan juga hitungan berapa bandwidth yang di pakai user
perorang di sesuaikan dengan hardwarenya. jangan switch 100 di pakai
berlebihan dari kapasitasnya, yang ada akan terjadi time out ( ngga nyambung
). Jadi jika user memakai 100 Mbps usahakan backbone server kalo bisa Switch
Gbps 1 Gbps akan mendapatkan 125 MBps. Maka bandwidth akan lebih lebah dari
pada backbone 100 Mbps.

4. Setting Network ( IP, netmask, gateway, dns, service network ).

Untuk analisa cukup pakai ping dan tracert.Olah data yang diberikan ping dan
tracert.Biasanya dengan tools ini kita bisa dapat data time to live, brp
besar packet yang di kirim, pattern reply ( lama reply ), perjalanan packet
yang menyebabkan lambat.

Untuk analisa yang lebih oke pakai network analizer pake fluke.

Hmm... setahu saya dalam RAID 1 (mirroring) tidak ada yang berlaku
sebagai sebagai master maupun slave. Intinya ke dua disk bersifat
saling mem-backup dan menjaga availability data.

Re: [ITCENTER] Restore Active Directory

Wah sebaiknya jangan pakai cara restore seperti itu, yang errornya
nanti terbawa.

Mungkin cara yang ok:

1. Perbaiki errornya AD dengan tool ntdsutil (cari di internet)
disini kita bisa compact, find some error etc

2. Lalu backup system state (hanya untuk jaga2)

3. Bangun Windows di server yang baru, naekkan jadi DC

4. Pindahkan semua fungsi FSMo ke server baru

5. Pindahkan semua pointer lain yang mengarah ke server lama, misal
dns kalo ada, pointer lainnya yang spesifik ke server lama.

Ada yang kurang gak yah? seingetnya aja
