How did you get to this conclusion?

http://www.volano.com/report/index.html shows that our 1.4.1 is faster
than Sun's 1.4.1.
IBM's 1.4.0 seems to be even faster but it doesn't support as many
concurrent connections as Blackdown 1.4.1 and Sun 1.4.1.

It's a bug in RH 9: http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=90301
RedHat has a fix for the problem but hasn't yet released an update
of their glibc RPM.

You have two options to work-around this bug:

* Use our gcc-2.95 build
* Use the gcc-3.2 build with LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 (this will disable
  the use of NPTL)

Or bug RedHat until they release a fixed glibc RPM.

There aren't many differences between Sun's 1.4.1_03 and our 1.4.1_01.
A Blackdown 1.4.2 for x86, AMD64, and probably SPARC will be available
in a few days.

2003-07-01 Thread Sadanapalli, Pradeep Kumar (MED, TCS)
Thank you very much Juergen for you response and all others who have
responded to
my post for your time and help. Your responses were very useful. I hope
to see
blackdown java version 1.4.2 come out soon...!!

I am just wondering which should be preferred , either Sun Java or
Blackdown's Java?
I would appreciate if someone can clear my misconceptions. Are there any
specific
reasons that are to be looked at in selecting either Sun Java or
Blackdown java ?
Thanking you in advance

Pradeep
