installing/patching Sun Java Web Server?

the instructions on blackdown say to apply the jwebs-linux.diff file in
the JavaWebServer1.1 directory...if I do that by

patch < jwebs-linux.diff

patch just asks me which file i want to patch...am i missing somehting
VERY simple?

(slackware 2.0.30, patch 2.1b)

jserv & apache 1.3.1?

the instructions in the jserv 0.9.9 obviously (?) aply to an earlier
version of apache, and simply say to put mod_jserv.c in the /src
directory, add

  Module jserv_module mod_jserv.o

to the Configuration file and then build apache...

however this doesn't work--i get a long stream of unresoved symbols
during make, which terminates abnormally...

can anyone offer any hints as to the correct way to get this to work
(i'm light on Apache knowledge, but assume its not difficult ;-)

fwiw this is on linux 2.0.30/slackware...
