Re: [JAWS-Users] New JAWS repair method

2017-02-19 Thread Artur Räpp
Hi,

You can press shft+application instead of shft+f10 too if shft+application is
more convinient. But not every keyboard has application key.
Shft+application and shft+f10 give extended context menu. For example Extended
context menu has more Send to entries as standard context menu too.

Ps
Windows XP doesn't have Copy as path in the extended context menu, maybe
Windows Vista too, cant remember.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] New JAWS repair method

Hi. I'm writing to explain the new JAWS repair method I learned today from VFO.
Previously, I'd taken the file of the currently running JAWS build, put it in
the C drive, copied the exact wording into a Windows run dialog, etc. this
procedure failed twice for me today. VFO seems to know about this because when
I called, they had me follow the procedure I'll detail below, and it worked. I
don't know why it is different, but somehow it is. So, here goes.

First, make sure you have the .exe file on your system for the JAWS build
you're running. You can download it from the FS/VFO website.

Unlike before, it doesn't seem to matter where you keep it on your system.

Close all running apps.

Highlight the JAWS .exe file.

Press shift-F10.

Arrow up to "Copy as path." Press enter.

Open the run dialog with Windows key-r.

Press control-v, then spacebar, then / (the forward slash key), then the word
"type", spacebar, and then the word "repair."

Let me try that command line a different way. After pressing control-v followed
by the spacebar, continue with /type repair

Then press enter.

The process went more smoothly than any JAWS repair I can remember, and it went
all the way to the end.

I hope this is useful.

That's pretty standard stuff, but not what I'm after at all. After you
select one, two or even all files (control-A) and copy them to the clipboard
(control-C), is it possible, then, to change directories and continue
selecting and copying files to the clipboard without overwriting the files
already there?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Make JAWS speak ASCII code.

2007-11-20 Thread Artur Räpp
Hi,

may be you are accidentaly set in
configuration manager, set options menu, Graphics And Symbols... dialog,
Character verbosity something other than none.
there are 5 choices:
None; TypeEcho, SayChar, SpellWord; Also SayWord; Also SayLine; Also SayAll

Default is None.

I tested with line
6÷3=2
If i set to all JAWS says:
6 character 247 3 = 2
if I set to none JAWS says:
6 divided by 3 equals 2

Only guess

Re: [JAWS-Users] Jaws 9 beta and the window live messenger

2007-10-26 Thread Artur Räpp
Hi,

We have here in Estonia same problem. JAWS with English live messenger works
good. With estonian live messenger not.

For example. In messenger chat window is history subwindow. JAWS searches in
"history" window text "nick name says:"

Problem: This window has in not-English live messenger other name and "says
is in estonian language and in chinese another word.

and so on.

possible solutions: You can use English live messenger or modify live
messenger message file.

[JAWS-Users] Vista and disapearing text in notepad

2007-10-19 Thread Artur Räpp
Hi,

I have in my laptop 2 accounts. One is for administering and other I use
everyday.

I haven't modified anything in first account. In second I have played around
with various Vistas settings.

With this second account I have following problem: (JAWS 8 and JAWS 9.0399
beta too)

Text disappears in notepad quite often. If I use up arrow keys Usually.

For example: move to end of document and then move 20 - 30 times up with up
arrow keys.

If text disappears I can't read text with JAWS cursor too. All notepad
Window is missing.

Instead desktop items are visible.

Refresh screen helps, until next time.

All is OK with First account.

It's seems that I have modified some Vistas appearance settings. I can't
find working settings for this everyday account now.

I have tried with other themes, desktop backgrounds and colors, no success.

May be someone can help me.

Artur

Re: [JAWS-Users] Finding the width of a cell in Excel 2002

2007-10-08 Thread Artur Räpp
Hello,

in Excel Format menu, column, width dialog
excel gives column width in characters. at least in Excel 2000.

-- copied from excel help message ---
Type a value from 0 (zero) through 255 to change the
width of columns where you have selected cells.
This number represents the number of characters
that can be displayed in a cell formatted with the
standard font. If the column width is 0, the column is hidden.

Hi,

( An Outlook Express basic repair kit )

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/IE/community/columns/filecorruption.mspx
(The Other E-Mail Threat: File Corruption in Outlook Express )

copied from second page:

Signs and Symptoms of DBX Corruption
The first symptoms of DBX corruption usually begin innocently enough. You
might notice that Outlook Express feels sluggish when starting, or when
switching folders. Simple tasks like marking a message as read might take
several seconds. Such performance issues usually mean that some minor
corruption has occurred but has not yet reached a critical level. If the
corruption is more extensive but involves a single e-mail or news folder,
Outlook Express might crash with this error when you try to open the damaged
folder:

Re: [JAWS-Users] Moving pane in Excel?

2007-09-29 Thread Artur Räpp
Hi,

May be You can use Excel goto command, ctrl+g.
ctrl+g, a1 - go to cell a1
ctrl+g, a1:g100 - select cells from a1 to g100
ctrl+g, move with tab key to special button, spacebar, select with arrow
keys what you need, for example Visible cells = select visible cells.
May be you can use alt+page up or alt+ page down (move one screen left or
right)
or page up or page down - move one screen up or down.
