does it fail also on AS7.0?

I haven't noticed such freezes while running both 7.1 or 7.0 on linux and osx
so wondering if there is some windows specific things.

We don't really do anything magical/weird/different in this area so a bit
surprised seeing it happen.

And yes, getting a stacktrace via jstack would be great.

Thanks again Mauricio,

Unfortunately, my work environment is not on the Internet.  My internet access
is via an email/browser station with very limited functionality.  Just
importing files from the Internet is a tedious, administrative, and time
consuming process.  Exporting to the Internet is nearly impossible; I'm afraid
I can't provide any code. I am using jBPM version 5.2.0.Final.

I appreciate being able to expose the task server bean as a JNDI resource, but
for now, our plan is to have our one app be the one-stop-shop.

I see the LocalTaskService and LocalHumanTaskService classes in the
org.jbpm.task.service.local package.  Are these the classes I need to start a
local task server inside my application?  If so, I'll try to Google for
examples.  Are they independant, or do I need both?  Will I still interact via
a TaskClient?

Can I do this and still use the custom UserGroupCallback?

I'm sorry I was confusing about the user session info.  The JEE realm will not
provide me any information beyond HttpServletRequest.getRemoteUser(), and
HttpServletRequest.isUserInRole("role_name").  The application/database doesn't
know about provisioned users, it only knows the identity string of the current
user within the context of a user's session.  (It does know about roles/groups,
as membership requirements are all over the application, granting access to
pages, data, resources, etc.)  So, in a session scoped bean, I could implement
the UserGroupCallback as long as the only user was the current user.  I suspect
that won't be possible however, and I'll have to go outside the realm and use
the external RESTful interface.  I hope that's more understandable.

It should work with also a local version of the task server. you can start a
local task server inside your application and use that to interact without the
need of using the Mina Server at all..
You can also expose the task server bean as a JNDI resourse so multiple
applications can use it if it's needed (it's a common requirement to share the
task server across different applicaitons that will be running processes or
creating tasks).

Usually what you need to build is a task list oriented UIs. I'm not sure to
understand correctly your example. The user that is logged in should see
his/her own tasks (or the one belonging to it's group). If you want to see
another user tasks you need to loggin with a different user (a common
requirement as well).

If you can provide a simple application/test that shows and setup the JEE realm
with some mock users we can help you to improve it as long as we can have a
generic example like the LDAP one.

Cheers

We are using JBoss 4.2.1 application server, redhat linux OS and Apache as web
server. The jboss package is JBoss EAP 4.3.0 _CP09.

I am seeing many CLOSE_WAIT statuses not getting resolved related to AJP
connections. I also found that the issue was resolved/fixed in JBoss EAP 4.2
version.
But since, we are still getting it, I want to know if this issue was not
resolved entirely as the Application Server is still JBoss 4.2.1.

I also found that downloading and adding the JBoss Native libraries should
solve the problem. Is this applicablt to this version as well?

Note: We are in process of getting our Jboss Support through RedHat. It would
be great if meanwhile I get some information for this issue.

Thanks,
Hetvi

Thanks Mauricio,

I believe you're saying I have to impliment the UserGroupCallback interface and
register that class with the UserGroupCallbackManager singleton.  Is that
correct?  Is that only for the MinaTaskServer?

The JEE security occurrs in the context of a user session, so in that context,
I can't obtain the user and group information for a different user, only the
authenticated user.

(If there's no other way, my authentication provider does have an available
RESTful API that I can use if necessary.  I would prefer not to if I don't have
to.)

But let me backup.  We have a single application on a single application
server.  It would be preferable to not have to use an external (Mina) task
server.  Is there a way to do this entirely within the session context?  If
not, is there a way to do this entirely within the one application (WAR)
without exposing an external Mina Server?

Thanks,
John

Hello,

I have a JAX-WS service implementation class, that tries to @Inject a bean. The
bean does not seem to be injected. If I change the Web service impl to be a
stateless session bean, the @Inject is done.

Here's my code, in which the inject is not done:

@WebService(serviceName = "EchoServiceService", portName = "EchoServicePort",
    name = "EchoServiceImpl", targetNamespace = "http://my.org/simple";)
@SOAPBinding(style = SOAPBinding.Style.RPC)
public class EchoServiceImpl implements IEchoService
{
 @Inject
    HelloBean hello;

    @WebMethod
    public String sayHello(String msg) throws MyException
    {
    //throws a NPE:
    return hello.sayHello(msg);
    }
}

Is this a known limitation of JBossWS, or am I missing something?

Thanks,

Paul.

The project is not dead, and it's quite active indeed. You can take a look a
the source code that is evolving day after day.
You can achieve what you are looking for using the UserCallbacks, you can take
a look at an example using LDAP here, in your case it will be the same but for
the JEE realm.

Hello,

My last request for help received no replies, so I hope this product isn't
dead.  Is it dead or dying?  Is it being replaced by Activiti?

I am still trying to use jBPM 5.2 in an existing application with a variety of
technologies including Spring 3.1 and JEE realm security.

The users are authenticated and authorized via the realm.  The users are not
pre-provisioned or managed within the application (database).  I want to equate
the users roles (as in web.xml security-role) to swimlanes.  (I presume that is
the correct association.)  Can that be done?  If so, how?

When a user in a particular role (as in .isUserInRole()) opens a particular
page, he will see the "inbox" for all users in that role.  After he completes
the activity, the process will move on to the next user Task and will show up
in any inboxes for it's role.  Does this make sense?

Thanks,
John

Hi,

The way I solved it and according to my problem was:

1 - Create a Work Item handler and the work item with abort methods:

public class PrintWorkItemHandler extends MyWorkItemHandler {
    public Printer2 p;
    protected Date startTime;
    protected Date endTime;

    class printThread extends Thread {

    protected long wiID;

    public printThread(long wiID) {
    this.wiID = wiID;
    }

    public void run() {
    startTime = new Date();
    p = new Printer2();
    p.printAlot("adasd");

    // notify manager that work item has been completed
    mng.completeWorkItem(wiID, null);
    endTime = new Date();
    System.out.println("PRINT ENDED and took  " +
    JBPMUtil.dateDiff(startTime, endTime));
    }
    }

    public void executeWorkItem(WorkItem workItem, WorkItemManager manager) {
    super.addWorkItem(workItem);
    super.setWorkItemManager(manager);

    new printThread(workItem.getId()).start();
    }

    public void abortWorkItem(WorkItem workItem, WorkItemManager manager) {
    System.out.println("ABORTED");
    p.stop = true;
    manager.abortWorkItem(workItem.getId());
    }
}

2 - When i want a workItem to finish i do:

mng.completeWorkItem(wiID, null); to complete ir
or
manager.abortWorkItem(workItem.getId()); to abort it

Hi Tihomir,
I've read your reply and looked trough the link you posted.
I've opened drools-guvnor.war but I can't find any file named
"preferences.properties" in WEB-INF
I've created a new one and copied the code from 10.5.2 chapter of the manual
(modified localhost). Then I zipped the directories (.war) and deploied the
package, but this doesn't work (also with designer 2.1 )
In the end of the chapter 10.5.2 I've read "you have to deploy Guvnor as
exploded archive".
How can I do this?
Thanks
Mirko

I'm using JBPM 5.2.Here is my attachment of server.log file.
Steps I followed

1.Created a BPMN Process in eclipse with one user task.
2.Edited the package name as defaultPackage
3.Now,the I added bpmn file from eclipse to the guvnor location.I can see the
bpmn process in guvnor defaultPackage.I added tasknames to that BPMN Process
and generated succesfully the taskforms(able to see source for the taskforms
too).Now,I validated the process
4.There are no validation errros.I saved the changes and validated and build
the package configuration.But,after logged into JBPM Console,I'm not able to
see the process in ProcessOverview.What might be the problem occured.Did I
missed any steps.Please suggest me.

Here,is the attachment of the sample BPMN Process and server log too

Hi All,

Request you all to please help me on this. I am using jbpm 5.2. I use
getTasksOwned API to get the tasks assigned to an user. It works fine in all
scenarios except for the tasks that are claimed.

What happens is, as part of the claim operation the "createdBy_id" column of
Task is not getting updated. Because of this the query "TaskOwned" which is
defined in TaskOrm.xml does not return the results. The "actualOwner_id" column
is updated, but for some reason "createdBy_id" column is not.

I tried going through the code and found that in commands method of
TaskServiceSession.class, only actual owner is set. Is this an issue? If I
manually update this column in db, it works.

Is this an issue? If yes, is there any work-around for this? I am right now
thinking of using the query API to get the tasks assigned. Will there be any
other issue if I do that?

Please provide your suggestions. Let me know if I need to provide any more
information. Thanks for your time.

Regards.

Nicklas answered this question for me in the Jboss 7 forum.

My connection url was missing a colon after db2 and I also had the port and
database name in the wrong order.

This is what the connection url should have had:

    jdbc:db2://10.90.10.125:60009/apdev70

Thanks again.

Hi forum,

Following up on this matter, I have some more info.

The fact is that eventually the program stops running, but this only happens
about 30 to 60 seconds after the last instruction in the code was run.

Alternatively, I tried the return instruction which had the same outcome. The
only one that did the job was System.exit(0);

So would like to ask if using the System.exit is the best approach or should I
file a bug?
Would really appreciate the help on this matter.

Sounds good. Just to get you started - Designer has a notion of profiles. A
profile determines a number of things, one of them being how the save/load
functionality is implemented. A profile name is a mandatory URL parameter that
has to be passed to designer (for example
localhost:8080/designer/editor?profile=ABC&uuid=XYZ&pp=). Each profile has it's
own impl class, for example for the jbpm profile see:
https://github.com/tsurdilo/process-designer/blob/master/src/main/java/org/jbpm/designer/web/profile/impl/JbpmProfileImpl.java

https://github.com/tsurdilo/process-designer/blob/master/src/main/java/org/jbpm/designer/web/profile/impl/JbpmProfileImpl.java.
 Each profile among other things has its own config (again for jbpm profile
look @
https://github.com/tsurdilo/process-designer/blob/master/src/main/webapp/profiles/jbpm.xml

https://github.com/tsurdilo/process-designer/blob/master/src/main/webapp/profiles/jbpm.xml)
 which determines what plugins etc get loaded at startup.

Again, feel free to ping me on IRC and we'll talk more.

Hi Mirko, I assume that both Guvnor and Designer in your setup run on
10.0.0.61:8080. On a save operation Guvnor get's the process JSON from Designer
via JavaScript and sends it off to Designer to marshall it into BPMN2 which
then get's saved into the Guvnor's JCR.
By default Guvnor assumes to find Designer under localhost:8080, see docs:
http://docs.jboss.org/jbpm/v5.2/userguide/ch10.html#d0e3136
http://docs.jboss.org/jbpm/v5.2/userguide/ch10.html#d0e3136 to see how to
configure both Designer and Guvnor to change the default settings (as you
mention you have done the Designer part already).

With Designer 2.1 close to releasing I would also recommend to replace your 2.0
wars with 2.1 candidate release available at
people.redhat.com/tsurdilo/designer/master and test with that as we have fixed
numerous issues around execution of the BPMN2 produced by Designer since 2.0.
Don't forget to clear your browser cache after replacing your current war.

Hope this helps.

Sure...that is understandable. I think the right way to go is indeed to get
more support by the community- Especially by companies having the necessary
environment to push a project like this forward. We will soon starting with the
first steps on the designer..hopeful with some quick results.

>> Yes we definitly need it sooner as we're waiting for month now. <<
You'll have to forgive me as almost all work in the last months went into
making sure bpmn2 created by designer is 100% executable by the jBPM runtime
and lots of usability improvements (such as user data input editors). Having
more eyes and hands on the project would most definitely help.

Hi all, Im developing web services to expose an IBM application api as web
services (using Metro).
I'd normally use tomcat, but found out the API has some EJB and websphere
runtime dependencies, so I'm trying to deploy 'as is' to Jboss 7.0.2 Final

I think I have pulled in the right websphere runtime libraries without clashing
with jboss jars,

However, when I try to deploy I get the following error:

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.omg.CORBA.TRANSIENT

I'm totally new to Jboss, and I would assume this class would be in the
standard jboss class path (either in rt.jar or
jacorb-2.3.1jboss.patch01-brew.jar) ?

The jacorb file is present. I'm running 'standalone.bat'. Everything is
untouched/OOTB appart from JAVA_HOME and listening ports. Is there more CORBA
configuration to do?

Yes we definitly need it sooner as we're waiting for month now.

Can you give me a hint how to start where. Is there any guideline or starting
document available? Our company will be more then happy to support the project
and push things forward.

Hi,
I've JBoss (http://www.coderanch.com/forums/f-63/JBoss) bound to localhost and
hidden behind Apache https server. JBoss + Apache are serving connections
through HTTPS protocol. I would like to configure admin-console to be also
accessible via HTTPS. I've the following entry in Apache's configuration:

|      |  |
 |
|      | ProxyPass    |
http://localhost:8080/admin-console |
|      | ProxyPassReverse     | http://localhost:8080/admin-console |
|      |  |
 |

When I open https://host/admin-console it works well but after committing
entered username and password the server redirects to:
http://localhost:8080/admin-console/login.seam which results in error. How to
fix that?
