[JIRA] [nodelabelparameter-plugin] (JENKINS-33297) Release 1.7 of dramatically changes the behaviour of this plugin - A mode to switch between the two behaviours should exist.
Title: Message Title Duncan Bell created an issue Jenkins / JENKINS-33297 Release 1.7 of dramatically changes the behaviour of this plugin - A mode to switch between the two behaviours should exist. Issue Type: Bug Assignee: Dominik Bartholdi Components: nodelabelparameter-plugin Created: 03/Mar/16 3:15 PM Environment: Jenkins ver. 1.642.2 LTS, Ubuntu Trusty Labels: jenkins plugins workflow Priority: Major Reporter: Duncan Bell Before this change in 1.7 when running a job against node "all" it would randomly select one of the nodes with this label. I use a control job which loops around an array of things to build and despatches them to another job, which runs on a random node using this plugin... This change in 1.7 now means the job runs on ALL the nodes simultaneously, which dramatically changes the behaviour of this plugin which has been the same for a number of years. Since upgrading my build machines, including the Jenkins plugins they use, I have had to revert thi
[JIRA] [nodelabelparameter-plugin] (JENKINS-22185) Job with "NodeLabel Parameter Plugin" does not build in parallel on all nodes which share a label.
Title: Message Title Duncan Bell commented on JENKINS-22185 Re: Job with "NodeLabel Parameter Plugin" does not build in parallel on all nodes which share a label. My slaves are all identical and so is the job they run, I just run another Jenkins job with a for loop in it which triggered another job which was set to run on all, this would spawn out the jobs as many times as it needed to slaves... it was quite a nice way to control running the same job with different parameters across a load of slaves... I didn't see this 22185 as a bug, I just wrote code to make the plugin do what I wanted. [JIRA] [nodelabelparameter-plugin] (JENKINS-32645) Rebuild Plugin triggering same job multiple times on slaves simultaneously
Title: Message Title Duncan Bell commented on JENKINS-32645 Re: Rebuild Plugin triggering same job multiple times on slaves simultaneously Thanks, I will look at raising a feature request to make the plugin work as it has done for the past zillion years. Until then I can just deploy the working older version of the plugin I have. Title: Message Title Duncan Bell commented on JENKINS-22185 Re: Job with "NodeLabel Parameter Plugin" does not build in parallel on all nodes which share a label. I have replied on my own ticket, but would just like to say, is changing the main behaviour of this plugin after it working one way for three/four years not rather drastic? [JIRA] [nodelabelparameter-plugin] (JENKINS-32645) Rebuild Plugin triggering same job multiple times on slaves simultaneously
Title: Message Title Duncan Bell commented on JENKINS-32645 Re: Rebuild Plugin triggering same job multiple times on slaves simultaneously So there is no way for your plugin to random select one of N number of slaves to run the job on, but only every run the job once on one slave? As I have used the plugin the way I have for so long, I cannot see why someone would want to run the same job x 20 slaves... I build VM's for example, so only want one copy of each VM, so the jobs are distributed out to slaves, then the data copied back to the master... Title: Message Title Duncan Bell commented on JENKINS-22185 Re: Job with "NodeLabel Parameter Plugin" does not build in parallel on all nodes which share a label. Hello Please see https://issues.jenkins-ci.org/browse/JENKINS-32645 which I raised recently. Changing the behaviour of your plugin actually is the opposite of what I was using it for and expecting it to do, so when I upgraded it, my build environment was unusable. Is there a way I can upgrade the plugin, but retain the old behaviour? [JIRA] [rebuild-plugin] (JENKINS-32645) Rebuild Plugin triggering same job multiple times on slaves simultaneously
Title: Message Title Duncan Bell commented on JENKINS-32645 Re: Rebuild Plugin triggering same job multiple times on slaves simultaneously For testing I have copied over rebuild 1.22 on a Jenkins 1.6.46, and am still getting the same behaviour where clicking rebuild node=all triggers the same job on all my slaves, where as before it would just select one slave and run the job once. It appears that in Jenkins 1.595, all jobs run on the slaves would retain the node label of "all", but with this new incorrect behaviour, they seem to have the node=slavename I am going to check if using the old version of the ssh-slaves plugin (1.9) instead of 1.10 helps things. [JIRA] [rebuild-plugin] (JENKINS-32645) Rebuild Plugin triggering same job multiple times on slaves simultaneously
Title: Message Title Duncan Bell commented on JENKINS-32645 Re: Rebuild Plugin triggering same job multiple times on slaves simultaneously I tried to downgrade the rebuild plugin to 1.22, using the "downgrade" button, but after restarting Jenkins it has come back with 1.25 with no further option to downgrade again. I could perhaps copy the plugin from an older instance of Jenkins I still having running instead if this helps?
