Yes.
As assumed earlier, Juniper goes for Mobile Network.
That's the next billion dollar business.

[j-nsp] OSPF route is not propagating in VRF

2009-08-19 Thread Mustafa Golam -
Hi List,
We are currently having some challenges with redistribution of routes from
the
new multisite M120 routers to the old M7 routers. Is there Any one who
can
provide some insight in resolving this?

Currently MPBGP routes on PE M120 routers received in the Gn vrf from remote
sites are redistributed into OSPF in order to be advertised to the Gn-VRF
of the
old packet-switched Network. The M7 routers in the old mpbn receives these
routes
as Type 5 routes and installs them in the OSPF database of Gn-VRF but these

external routes are not injected into the routing table of the Gn-VRF on the
M7
routers hence the old Core routers have no knowledge of remote routes in its

routing table.
Interestingly the GGSN[ M20 Router] in the old PS Core has the same routes
in its Gn-VRF ospf database and has subsequently installed these routes
into
the Gn-VRF.

Kindly advise on action to take to resolve this.
If you need any further info, let me know.

[j-nsp] Experience of Adding New RE in M20

One of my customer is using M20 as GGSN in their GSM network.
They had two RE and Primary RE got HW problem so they unplugged it
from Router. Now they have got their replacement HW from JTAC.

What would be the procedure to adding New RE to GGSN (M20)
without interrupting service? JUNOS version of New RE is 9.5 where
as currently running RE's 8.0.
I've search Juniper site and have gone through the documents.

Sharing practical experience would be great for me.

Our current configuration is :

Recent increase in demand and network utilization is asking to make at least

if we execute:*set chassis aggregated-devices ethernet device-count

Has anyone has similar experience?
Did1.) you need to restart the router

Re: [j-nsp] DPC and DPCE

2008-12-03 Thread Mustafa Golam -
DPCs provide multiple physical interfaces and Packet Forwarding Engines on a
single
board that installs in a slot in the Juniper Networks MX-series Ethernet
Services Router.
A DPC receives incoming packets from the network and sends outgoing packets
to the
network. The Packet Forwarding Engines on a DPC are equipped with
purpose-built
application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) that perform packet
processing and
forwarding. Each Packet Forwarding Engine consists of one I-chip for Layer 3
processing
and one Layer 2 network processor.
To ensure that the MX-series delivers the lowest cost per port without
sacrificing
performance, reliability, scalability, or functionality, each Ethernet
services router has
been purpose-built for optimization to provide both switching and
carrier-class Ethernet
routing functions.
The MX-series Ethernet Services Routers have three models of Dense Port
Concentrators: DPCE-X, DPCE-R, and DPCE-Q.
